Somehow he wiggled out of his shirt during the night. I barely slept every time he moved I was wide awake because he kept considering jumping off the bed ... I know he couldn't get comfortable, he would stand up, lie down, sit, lie down, he didn't know what to do with himself.

Poor thing. I hope Harvey's feeling more settled now.

Not a Jack Russell, but....

I found a stray cat in my house!!!

stray cat.jpg

Its obviously domesticated, but there are not tags to identify the owner. I'll have to drop it off at the humane society tomorrow.

People love to let their cats run free to crap in other peoples yards and destroy their trash. I have a cat eradicator here. His name is Fred, lol.

It could have a microchip? Hopefully they will find the owner. It's likely one of your neighbors? Do you guys have an app or anything for your neighborhood?

I put up posters in the neighbourhood. Oreo's owner came and got him. :) They'd been calling the humane society and wer just about to start putting up posters themselves.

All's well that ends well.

Oreo was bigger than either of the 2 chiahuahuas that live here. Maybe even as big as both put together!!

It's only been a year since I lost her, I miss her so much, it's so empty without her in my life.

Found this for you Andrew:
A DOG'S PURPOSE (FROM A 6-YEAR OLD)
https://www.vetwest.com.au/pet-library/ ... 6-year-old

Being a veterinarian, I had been called to examine a ten-year-old Irish Wolf hound named Belker. The dog's owners, Ron, his wife Lisa, and their little boy Shane, were all very attached to Belker, and they were hoping for a miracle.

I examined Belker and found he was dying of cancer. I told the family we couldn't do anything for Belker, and offered to perform the euthanasia procedure for the old dog in their home.

As we made arrangements, Ron and Lisa told me they thought it would be good for six-year-old Shane to observe the procedure. They felt as though Shane might learn something from the experience.

The next day, I felt the familiar catch in my throat as Belker's family surrounded him. Shane seemed so calm, petting the old dog for the last time, that I wondered if he understood what was going on. Within a few minutes, Belker slipped peacefully away.

The little boy seemed to accept Belker's transition without any difficulty or confusion. We sat together for a while after Belker's Death, wondering aloud about the sad fact that animal lives are shorter than human lives. Shane, who had been listening quietly, piped up, 'I know why.'
Startled, we all turned to him. What came out of his mouth next stunned me. I'd never heard a more comforting explanation.

He said, 'People are born so that they can learn how to live a good Life - - like loving everybody all the time and being nice, right?' The Six-year-old continued, 'Well, dogs already know how to do that, so they don't have to stay as long.'

Remember, if a dog was the teacher you would learn things like:

When loved ones come home, always run to greet them.
Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joyride.
Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face to be pure ecstasy..
Take naps.
Stretch before rising.
Run, romp, and play daily.
Thrive on attention and let people touch you.
Avoid biting when a simple growl will do.
On warm days, stop to lie on your back on the grass.
On hot days, drink lots of water and lie under a shady tree.
When you're happy, dance around and wag your entire body.
Delight in the simple joy of a long walk.
Be loyal.
Never pretend to be something you're not.
If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it.
When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by, and nuzzle them gently.
:yeahbaby: Perfection is not attainable, but if we chase perfection we can catch excellence.

Harvey had his stitches removed yesterday morning. The incision scar that was a perfectly straight line is healing up but it's more of a squiggly line now because he couldn't stay still no matter what.

Our first Dachschund Max became my dog; slept beside me, sat beside me, wanted me to go outside with him, feed him, etc. When he was about 6 we noticed he was not walking correctly, it got worse, took him to Vet. Long story short, Max had a ruptured disc in middle to back part of spine & within 3 days was nearly paralyzed. New Year's Eve (early '90's) we drove 2 and a half hours to the U of GA Veteran Hospital.
THey took him from us about 4:30 PM and told us to go, they would call us with results of surgery, and we got a call around 2 AM saying he was out of surgery. We were not allowed to visit until 6 to 8 weeks later, he progressed, we took him home after 2 months, then complete cage rest for another 4 months.
He was shaved from shoulders back to tale, like a rectangle, and had a scar from near his shoulders to near the tale. About 8 months later we had gone somewhere and he was with us, got home and I let him go out into back yard. A few minutes later, I heard something unusual, went out back, he had killed a rabbitt!! Sorry for the rabbitt, but happy that he could run and move quick enough to get the rabbitt,
When Max passed about age 16 (over 10 years after the back surgery) it was worse than any death I had been through. I could not believe how attached I was to Max. He lives on with me forever.
