You have to really exercise them! No matter what! Even then they are hyper!

This is the most lovable and hardest to train dog I've ever had!
I absolutely love her, but she took off on me this morning, she can't resist the call of the wild, when she wants to chase a quirrel or a turkey, or a deer or even a bear, there's no stopping her... she was gone for a half hour this morning, but came home when she was done! I wouldn't mind her wandering, just that she could get hit by a car, or someone will find her and decide to keep her....

Although she is a handful... She must make you very happy indeed.

And THAT short film was sooooo very cute!!! :D :D :D :D I liked it so.

Though you had to set the treadmill for a slow speed...

I'm glad you and her are getting exercise. How is your knee? Finally better? I hope so.

And with you and her together - did remind me of that old cartoon, Astro and George Jetson... ;) :D

Oh Miss Stinkie is not impressed at all, to say the least, lol... so she just ignores her, really, just pretends she's not there at all.... actually it's a good thing, because stinkie was starting to act old, sleeping all day, she is over 10 now, but with competition she is more active, plus Loki needs long walks every day, poor Stinkie can barely keep up, I'm almost carrying her at the end, but it's good for her.... the both dream after their walks, whimpering and little feet running in their sleep....

I love those little animal dreams, our cats do the same thing!! I wore Stinkie out a couple times too, just walking her up the hill here. Have you asked the Vet about her, is this normal for her, she maybe 10 but for a small dog that's not that old. Our cats are 10 also and they're slowing down now too!! So Stinkie just turns her head away from Loki like Loki is not there? Stinkie only found one friend while visiting us, it was another Shi Tzu like her and she really seemed like this other dog, all others she put on the Tribble growl...LOL
And after awhile she started warming up to one of the cats that just wanted to be her friend.
That video is too funy!! :527: :527: :527: :527: :527: :527:
You said that Loki likes to jump on the treadmill by her self?? You need to video that one and put it on YouTube, and here are a couple that are already out there:

I know that second one is not a JR, but is too funny!!
Ms Bossman wanted a JR so I bought her JR's for Dummys and she changed her mind. She said she'll get one after she retires and has time for the dog and does not have anymore rabbits (JRs like to eat the rabbits!!)

And someone keeps telling us how smart dogs are. That was funny.

re: Vicky's clip. My good freakin' grief. I get horny even when she's got clothes on running on a treadmill

I was thinking about this because I'm anxious to go home tomorrow, I miss my dogs so much! I called my friends who are babysitting and they said "dog? what dog? we don't know anything about any dog", lol.. .in other words they want to keep her. I shot this little video of her a little while before we left, I swear I could do a whole video of this animal and send it in to animal planet...

she spied a squirrel from the porch, tore down the hill and trapped it in a piece of french drain we were planning on burying next to those stairs...

You will not believe what this insane dog did today!!!!

First off she is an escape artist, we continuously block holes, add more spindles, and build retaining walls higher, but she keeps getting out! She can easily jump 5 feet from a standing position. Sometimes I think she has springs under her feet.

Well she disappeared just before we were gonna go to the dog run with our friends and their boxer. I had the whole bloody neighborhood out looking for her. Then I realized where she was. Underneath my neighbors house. Inside the 24 inch high crawlspace. It's worse, we built adjoining decks here at the cabin (it's like waterworld), so you can't get under their house without crawling under the deck first. Besides all the cobwebs and creepy crawlies, there are electrical cables, gas pipes, and god knows what else under there.

Somehow she got herself stuck under there. I could hear her howling and scratching to get out, I figured her halter must have got stuck on something.

It drove me crazy I was under the house (backbreaking and disgusting) for 1/2 hour with a flashlight, I'm not kidding, I could hear her crying, scratching and breathing really heavy. I was sure she was hurt, but I couldn't find her!

Finally when I was at the spot where the breathing was the loudest, I realized that she was inside the insulation above my head! There is a thick layer of fibrous water barrier pinning all the insulation up between the floor joists, There was no way to tear it, I had to get a knife to cut through it, pull out bunches of insulation that ended up all over me (I'm itching like crazy now), grab her by the tail and yank her out between hot water pipes (think she was right under their bathtub!) She was completely sandwiched in there and was afraid. She had worn herself out struggling. She was soaked with sweat by the time I got to her. I took a shower, and gave her a bath, but we are both still itching, and she got it in her eyes too. Retarded dog. She was quiet for an hour afterwards, but now she's back to her mischievous self. Why the hell did I ever get a Jack Russel? Life was simple before her.

What a great adventure! Hate that itchy insulation. Bet it was worse for you than the dog.

Vicky, did you see the post we had before below? Jeb had several of those lovable but ornery critters. We 2 met a neighbor's Jack Russell and thought they were nuts to have a dog like that till Jeb told us about their history. So your dog is not really insane, just bread to be that way! There msut have been something under the house to chase. And yes we saw the spirngs in the feet of the neighbor's dog as she jumped over a 4+ foot fence and ran away after who knows what and got stuck in a drainage pipe for over an hour.

Why do most Good horse stables keep some Jack Russell terriers around the barn?

Well horses are sloppy eaters and spill lots oats and food all over the place. The local critters in the area see this as a restaurant. Now cats may eat mice but most are scared of big rats. Before the royal Brits used Jack Russells to dig foxes out of their holes at the end of the hunt, Jacks were bread to work the coal mines in order to keep the rat population low. Thus, the white color was easy to see and the tail was cropped to the perfect length to grab when that is all that sticking our of a rat hole. Pull on tail and out comes the dog and dead Rat!

Some refer to Jacks as “Rat Killers” or Rat Dogs.” Vicky found that her Jack Russell was not that sure about the difference between a squirrel and a rat! And Vicky, no need to worry about the nose getting bitten. It is rat killing instinct and the dog always wins!!! Since John is in NYC, with lots of both, maybe he could tell us if a squirrel is not just a rat with a furry tail that prefers the trees in Central Park over apartments, subways and sewers?

Vicky, see you are part way there to getting some horses and have Rokkerr build you a big stable! The Jack Russell is the start. That is how Jeb over time had 5 Jacks and 7 horses. You guys are on your way to lots of fun!!!

PS Maybe more will check the link about Dog CED for some real fun: http://www.vickyathome.com/clips/foryourdog.wmv

Like I think I said before Ms Bossman wanted a Jack and so I got her Jacks for Dummys and she changed her mind, thank god. If I had that much trouble with a dog I'd... I won't say I like animals too much to really hurt them, unlike some two legged animals, LOL.
You might to tie her up, I sure she'd hate it but after a while or many days maybe she'll get over it. I had a friend that had a yellow lab that was an escape artist so they had to chain her in the back yard, but that dog was crazy and eventually (after charging their new little son) they had to put her to sleep, too bad. I'd do the chain thing and get her used to it. :icon_sad: :icon_sad:

Vicky, some people will never get the fun of Jack Russells. No chains on a Jacks Bossman. They are so smart they will bite your hand if you try to tie them up! We 2 dim blonds will never be as Jack nuts as Jeb! He loves the Nordic name Loki. Told us that Loki is mythical giant Man in Norse mythology. Loki is also an adept shape-shifter, with the ability to change both from a salmon, horse etc. and SEX (he turned into a woman to trick Frigg to learn Baldr's weakness). But he had to borrow Freyja's cloak whenever he wanted to change into bird form. What a guy!!!

What a perfect name for a female Jack Russell. Most all have multiple personalities!

LOKI was a nordic half man half God, he was a mischievous trickster, who was always getting the other Gods into situations, and generally creating havoc everywhere he went... I'll bet you Steinar can tell us more about it! Yes it's a perfect name for her, lol... As much as she frustrates the hell out of me sometimes, I love her to death, she is so lovable, and smart, as you can see on the cam, she kisses me all the time... She has her own little personality, and I love that she can run with me, Stinkie can't do it anymore...

See what I mean? lol... perfect! Thanks for the great link! I can see the spark of mischief in her eyes, she's always looking for "what's next to get into trouble with".. Now when she wants to go out she brings me her leash and sits there and barks at me. I can't help but love her.
