As for the software, I finally got everything installed except Acrobat, (which I don't need) so I'm thrilled about that! Now I can finally start catching up on my homework?

I'd go ahead and install acrobat as it is needed for PDF files which is much better than word etc.. oriented files. You can also turn the audio on w/i Adobe Acr and have it read the file for you thru your speakers. It is slower but at times is fun to listen to Mr. Roboto...

Watch out for the full version of Acrobat 8.x. We've had problems with it freezing Windows. I disabled it for now and use Acrobat Reader only.

Yea but Tony wasn't that installed buy your idiot IT guy at work? You guys have more Windoz problems than anyone I know, could be again that IT guy and that you're just too hardcore of a MAC guy and hate Windoz too much.
If it where me Vicky I'd backup my disk with a full restoreable image and then install Adobe and see what happens. If it kills windows then restore the backup and Adobe is gone...

I installed every component except acrobat, I'll worry about it when I need it. Or when my support is about to expire, lol... I just bought 2 gigs of ram to install into this piece of you know what sony viao... I'm gonna install it tomorrow. The store wanted $45 to install it, wish me luck, lol.. if you don't hear from me tomorrow you'll know why!

Hopefully you got enough RAM to make 2G total, unless you have the 64bit version of Windoz as the 32bit version (Vista) can't see more than about 3G of RAM. And I'm sure you'll install it just fine, note books are much easier to do than a desktop. Just one little cover to take off (usually that is) and the SoDIMMs pop in and out easy, just look at your instructions for the computer, even two left thumbs Tony could do it!!

BTW..General...could you spare one of those used 512K memory strips?? I'm still using my old 256K memory strips on my old PC, and the memory upgrade would really help me greatly.

[To be accurate, one mem card is 256K and the other is 512K...my original PC only came with one 256K strip; I added an additional 512K card about a year ago to boost the memory because the system was crashing down on me. Another upgrade with another 512K card would do me some good.]

Ahhhh...Oh-oh...I may have to cancel that request, General...just read this from Wikipedia on DDR SDRAM cards (the ones I use for my memory sticks) and it's compatability with your DDR2 memory sticks:

Actually, Torp, if you have Adobe Reader and the latest of Adobe Flash Player and Adobe Shockwave Player installed, you should be able to read PDF files quite sufficiently. You would only need Acrobat if you want to create and edit PDF's. And I'm sure that there are stand-alone apps available for verbalizing text files...that are much cheaper than the 125 bucks you'd have to pay to get Acrobat.
