If it wasn't for me and my dumb idea of putting those naked pictures on the banner of the board here, I could actually use a school computer and post on the board while the teacher is going over some boring intro stuff that I already know... or even at lunch time.... but noooo I had to go and choose those....

Another teacher last week was slamming the "damn pornographers" at the blackboard. He was talking about the .XXX domain saying he wanted so desperately for it to be passed that every porn site would be obligated to have that extension instead of .com or .net. That way it would be so easy to filter out porn from home, school, work, hell china and others could just filter .xxx from the whole country. We are soooo hated. , Makes me feel bad....

I took the intro to photoshop course last week and learned just enough to be dangerous and totally screw things up.. I'm experimenting with stuff, so sorry I may hurt your eyes sometimes.. just holler at me me if something is really ugly, lol... like the banner I made on the members home page that says "welcome to valhalla" Rokkerr says it's god-awful-ugly, lol.. so I left it there just to bug him some more....

Actually, Vicky, I kinda like that banner....only change I would do is to redo it in a more Viking-appropriate font.

I could use some Photoshop courses myself...I'd love to learn how to manipulate images (though, being an open source 'Dog, I prefer The Gimp as my WMD....

Oh, but I wish I would have been there when that instructor had started his rant about .XXX....I would have told him that some of his very own allies in the Christian Right and the US Government had opposed .XXX for exactly the opposite reasoning; that it would legitimize adult content rather than just wipe it off the face of the earth. And I would have noted that most of the adult industry (including the Free Speech Coalition) actually opposes the XXX domain for that very reason your "instructor" cited.

Are all of your instructors as closed minded and pig headed when it comes to sexual media as this one is??? Perhaps when you graduate this course, you could recommend someone offering a real course that is a bit more sex- and adult-friendly??

I must say I am really surprised. I thought since the school is downtown in a large city like atlanta that the instructors would be hip, lol... boy was I wrong! Talk about stodgy!

Pornographers have a bad reputation for a reason, so many of them are unethical, send out tons of unwanted spam, (yeah I loved it when I my mom's husband got porn spam with my pics filling up his mailbox, think it was zero tolerance or someone related to them) they use endless exit consoles, browser hijackers, buy mispellings of common urls to steal traffic, etc.. I totally understand why they are hated. I just wish it wasn't so. We are not all the same! But we get painted with the same brush.

Internet porn programmers are not known a "real programmers". They are looked down upon by the "real programming world". The teacher always says things about don't choose these colors or don't make animations flash, or make a "click here" that blinks or you'll look like a cheap porn site.... I don't know whether to laugh or cry, cause it's true! lol....

Vicky, I wouldn't hold out hope that any professors will admit to liking porn in public. As has become very apparent recently, all men surf porn or the vast majority do anyway. What they say in public is the opposite because you have no choice but to be against it or risk losing your job. How long do you think your prof would last if he openly advocated any type of porn or sex sites in the classroom? He'd be out in a NY minute. But I bet he goes home and surfs porn like the rest of us. Don't ask, don't tell, don't admit, just do secretly.

You hit the nail on the head with regards to the spam aspect and/or the google aspect. The xxx extension ought to have been implemented long ago. Then the company websites would not be keyword driven.

Don't agree with the porn prgrammer sentiment though...dependng upon what level they would have a leg up on most graphic oriented designers.

Perhaps, the next time a crack is made about porn sites, perhaps you "innocently ask" and what exactly do you mean by porn sites... as In Jenna Jammeson or Marilyn Chambers or as in BrendaSweet oriented sites. Could you clarify what you mean? That ought to get the discussion going as some of them have some very sharp web pages.

I wouldn't bring up anything in a classroom environment regarding porn. Just let the instructor rant on and take good notes. It'll probably be on one of his politically-motivated quizzes, lol.

So what would you do if someone at school recognized you Vick? Would you deny being Vicky Vette or would you embrace it knowing that you'll be outted all over the place? The bigger question is, how would it affect your grade if the instructor knew? Maybe he already does and that's why he's ranting against porn so much, maybe he's trying to make you blow a gasket, LOL.

It's the same here with porn, I was almost expelled. I had to see the dean of Phys Ed, and he's not really open minded he's an ass. When he told me I would most likly be expelled I burst into tears, I said you never even asked me what happened. I said a white lie, I told him I went on by mistake, and would never do that on purpose innocent (ok a massive lie) He believed me, but now I won't even say shit even if it's in my mouth.

Gotta disagree with 'ya, Torp, on the xxx domain; all it would have done would be to create a isolation cell for adult content to be imprisoned, isolated, and then ultimately starved to death. The main debate amongst the Right was between those who wanted to use the xxx domain that way ; and those who believed that such would "legitimize" content that really shouldn't exist.

Also....spammers aren't limited to porn; ever tried fighting through hair growth treatment spam or political hack email sometimes???

Porn programmers are no more or less responsible than the rest of the Web....but they get all the blame and none of the credit. There are certainly bad apples, and even more than a few sleazeballs...but no more than any other Internet genre.

Anthony, that's ok but we will agree to disagree on the extension. Too often when doing a simple google you get a host of unwarranted sites.... Take into consideration that many youngsters now use this as an everyday tool and it exhasterbates the problem.

Just like the .gov, .edu and so on and so on, it's one of the entertainment businesses that needs to be sectioned off just like the .gov due to many of the things you indicate.

I did a search no less the other day and boy I came up with some that fesces oriented..... It's like rap, it can't police itself so it needs some help so we don't have to use key words to eradicate sites.... Otherwise, MTV and Movies would be out.... Just the other day on AMC it was showing legally blonde... and the nail stylist says, "pecker" and fat ass
