Wow! 5000 km/year (~3000 mi.)? Hell, I'm retired and I'm still logging 12-15000 miles (~19,000 - 24,000km) a year. Course, I do a lot of traveling, too. Well, at least I used to when I could afford gas.

I just learned a new word so I thought I would use it here..... being as parsimonious as I am, I shudder at the price of gas .... it went up another 10 cents from 4 days ago. (parsimonious being thrifty)

I look forward to my filling up tomorrow... usually 11.75 to 12.5 gallons worth.... my guess around $45.00 or so. Luckily, I average a fill up once every two weeks.

Has anyone experienced the pump shutting down? As I heard that happens at $75.00 or so.

Here they, at least used to, shut down at $50. What a pain in the ass. To get a full tank, you had to do it twice.

Now, would you freakin' believe it? Gas at Wal-Mart is actually DOWN 4 cents this AM, and a nearby Conv. Store is down 3. New question: when is the last time you remember the price of gas going down??

Christine and I were talking about that the other day. When it goes down, it goes down 2 or 3 cents. When it goes up, it goes up 6 or 10 cents :wtf:

How about when they have to switch to "Winter blend?" The price goes up to account for that. But, come Spring, when they switch back? Does the price go back down? NO! It goes up AGAIN!!

We used to have gas wars here all the time. Sometimes it would go down 20 cents/l, it's been a while though. When it was over they would raise it by 30 cents.

Yeah, I remember gas wars. When I left Denver, it was $0.23/gal. What? When? Oh. 1965. I was working at the Oxford Hotel for $3/day plus tips. Course, in the summer, you could make $20/day in tips, which wasn't too bad in 1965.

Well, I bought 12.5 gallons and tipped the scales at $50.75 tonight... The pumps did not shut off.

Hey Walt - About 1965 wow $.23/gal for gas. Anyhow, is that the hotel that Steven King used as a model in his novel, The Shining... You didn't have a caretaker's job? Did you? And have your main responsibility to keep switching the boilers to an even temperature. Ah la, the axe-wielding Jack Nicholson. Hmmmmmmmm??!!

Okay Walt... we'll leave it at that, R E D R U M >> Do you remember that? >> Or shall I say in your case -- T E R V R E P // Y K N I K -- Haha!!!

Why does the price of gas go up in the spring, that's an easy one.. the oil companies expect people to drive during the summertime for vacation travel.

Maybe because in the winter - it becomes fuel oil for your boiler?

...and despite all the blame onthe Arabs, no one says a word about American oil companmies, except to report they have made another billion in profits for the last quarter. They say that they use that money for exploration and drilling new wells. Well, in my book, "Profits" are what is left over after you have paid all the bills.

Today, the price of oil actually went down a few sheikels
