Can you believe the vette gets 28 miles per gallon on the highway? Love that car! Anyway it was $69 to fill it in Ga, then gas was cheaper in SC, but more expensive in NC. For years and years gas was cheaper in Ga than anywhere else in the southeast, don't know what happened, but it's not the case anymore.

28 for a 'vette sounds pretty good, without knowing what engine you have. My '99 Camry gets 35 if I turn on the cruise control and keep it at 65. I can just make Dallas from El Paso (600 miles.)

Vicky,

Think it may be GA taxes?

Most do not Know But big Oil only makes about $0.08 per Gal. to Find, Pump, Refine and deliver while US Gov. makes $0.18 on ever Gal. States often tax and Take more. Thus, the difference as Jebby told us dim blonds!!!

I'm not sure about Big Oil taxes, but I know that stations only make a few cents a gallon (< $0.05?) They used to put a sticker on the pumps that told how much of the price was taxes. Not sure how much now, but am betting it is a minimum of 33%.

Well, just googled and found this. http://www.gaspricewatch.com/usgastaxes.asp It says Fed tax is $0.18, highest state is Wisconsin at $0.32, lowest is Georgia at $.075. Now, heck, who the devil do I know who lives in Georgia? Dang it, I can't remember. I swear I know someone who lives there teehee :lmao: :lmao:. But they also add a $0.04 sales tax.

NC, on the other hand, is $0.26.6/gal, but adds a $0.25/gal "inspection" tax ( :wtf: is THAT?), making their 'add-ons' $0.52/gal

SC is $0.16 State tax, but they also add a $0.25 inspection fee and a $0.50 environmental fee, making their add-ons $0.91/gal.

Wanna try cigarettes? Haha. The "newest" excise tax, effective June 3rd, on a pack in NYS is up to an approximately astounding $2.75 alone. A carton runs about over $100.00 in New York City. On Long Island or elsewhere in New York it's around $75.00 a carton. Yikes!! You have to get them on-line or via the Indian reservation. (I'm glad I stopped. In July, I'll be five years smoke free after 24 years of it.)

Wow. I'm in Cheap Gas Heaven. Only $3.85 this AM. Unfreakinbelieveable. $30 for 7 lousy gallons. I feel I ought to be buying it by the pint. As it is, I fill up before it gets to 1/2 tank. Yes, I know I still pay the same price. It's psychological. It doesn't hurt so bad If I pay $30 vs $80. I really feel for you folks still driving to work (I'm retired.) Time to go for the 30 mpg or better vehicles, folks. This may stop rising sometime this year, but it ain't gonna drop more than a possible few cents.

Hi
I paid 4.09 today and 4.19 over the holiday for regular. Been paying over 4.00 a gallon for the last 6 weeks close to Chicago. Chicago is 4.59 Regular a gallon at times. This is bullshit :1106:

Yeah, I know the price of gas sucks in New York too.

I'm doing the same thing now Walt. I've been going when the tank goes down to being half full. So far it's been costing only $35.00 for a fill up. That is so true. It is psychological. And I do feel better.

Did you reverse Wisconsin and Georgia? Now I'm completely befuddled...
So you are saying SC taxes are lower than NC, yet the gas was much cheaper in SC? Makes no sense at all....

The page says Wisconsin State tax is 32 cents per gallon (32.1), and Georgia is 7.5 cents/gal.

Total SC add-ons are higher than NC, including state tax and other add-ons, by $0.41/gal. So it seems like SC gas should be, on average, $0.41/gal higher than NC. But, one thing I notice in traveling, is that gas seems to be pretty much the same price everywhere. It still varies, but not by a lot. No, I don't understand it all, either (ok, any of it.)

over $5

My dad drives an m6 and an s450 and it costs him like $80 + to fill his cars because he has to get the expensive gas cuz his cars need it. The other day he was like, I hope gas prices shoot up so all the people who can't afford it get off the road and I can drive as fast as I want.

Well, I like your dad's thinking. I used to have a cute little Turbo-charged Pontiac Sunbird. A real hot rod. It took Super, but got maybe 25 mpg.

Walt, Georgia was 7.5 cents per gallon; now after the crooks ( state law makers) in Atlanta changed it last year to 8% which now gas cost more in Georgia than Alabama, and Tennessee. Where I live the stations in Georgia have to keep gas lower because of the Tennessee stations, in Chattanooga gas was $3.86 yesterday. I was in Atlanta last Wednesday gas was $4.04.

I paid $47.00 today for 10.932 gallons = $4.299/gal.
