WHO IS PAYING THE MOST (OR LEAST) IN THE WORLD FOR GAS????

Here in the good ol USA, everyone is one the warpath about gas prices..... 100,000 dead in a tragedy..... not as important as the price of oil.

I just paid $3.59 per gallon for regular unleaded gasoline.... the most I have paid in the USA for a gallon. I used to pay as low as 89 cents a gallon about 10 years ago. Out of interest.... who on here is paying more per gallon and are you cutting back on making trips or going to the store because of the price of gas...... me, I have thought twice about making trips that are lengthy because of the price of filling up the tank....

I use 89 octane in my car and I'm paying $3.93 but I've seen 89 at $3.99 & $4.03. I'm really lucky because I work only 12 miles from my house. I can fill up my tank and make it to work and back for about 2 weeks.

I just paid $3.49 about a week ago at Wal-Mart, usually about 10 - 15 cents cheaper than the name brands. I think the average here is running about $3.60 or so now. Benny, it's motorcycle time for you (maybe all of us. Sold my last one couple years ago. It doesn't bother me around town, but on trips you really feel the difference (45 -50 mpg.)) I usually don't let it get below half empty. I know I'm still payiing the same amount, but It feels better to pay $30 instead of $60.

I don't remember the exact numbers, but when I was in Spain in the 70's, I'm pretty sure it was near $4/gal then. I remember multiplying it out and being astounded. I seem to remember that it was around $1.25/liter, whatever that converted to in Pesetas. Probably 90% of the cars on the road were small, 4 cyl stick shifts.

..Once upon a time, in a land far far away in a prehistoric era, millions and millions of years ago, there lived the dinosaurs.....they paid the most for our gas...... since they became extinct, became fossils, and then became crude oil in the glaciers, tar pits, seas, and deserts of the world. They died for our sins.

Right??... Yes, I know I'm off the wall and very strange in my answer here. But it's true. Really.

Well on Long Island, in New York gas is $3.89/gal for regular. $4.13/gal for special. And $4.29/gal for high test or premium.

This morning, the convenience store prices in my area are $3.61 to $3.65. Wal-Mart is at $3.52, $3.49 with your Wal-mart shopping card, which I use. So, $3.49 for me. For now. For this hour.

John, what is "Special" gas, and, do I want to know??? :lmao: :lmao: You mean I can bottle it and use it in my CAR??? :lmao: :racing :lmao:

Walt this car gets almost 23 miles to gallon, and what a great back seat. My mom would kill me if I did that in her car :bj: :cockspank:

I thought it was funny...about the dinosaurs....

Anyway, thanks Walt - for the words of encouragement. :D

Let me explain. What is "special" gas? Jokes aside. When a gasoline tanker truck pulls into a gas station in need of gasoline - it fills the drums and tanks under the station with either high test/premium; lets say 93 octane and regular unleaded gas; lets say 87 octane. However, there is also a siphoning mechanism in the individual pumps so that when the customer/patron selects it - a special or mixed blend of gasoline comes out from both the high test/premium tanks and the regular unleaded tanks down below. Lets say at 89-91 octane (or numbers close to that effect). Most gas stations work this way, with three choices - regular, special, and high test/premium. Be it from Exxon, Mobil, Amoco, BP, Gulf, Chevron, Texaco, Phillips, and Shell... However, Sunoco has it even broken down further into five choices or groups, depending on the various octane selections chosen. Basically, all you're doing is getting a change in octane levels so that your car can perform better.

Well, you don't need to buy a higher octane than your car mfr recommends (especially at todays prices,) but I guess that sounds like a 'mid-grade' gas. I can't even remember what they called it, as I've never used it. Never knew it was a combo thing.

And, Julie, 23mpg isn't too bad, I guess. And, as far as the back seat is concerned, if 'the urge to merge' just gets too powerful to overcome, and you have no choice, just lay down a towel.

1. Mom will never know, and,
2. It's not like it was the dining room table. :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Well, I can't beat Steinar or Julie, but, remember that gas I saw yestersay for $3.52? Did I fill up? Oh, hell, no. That would have been WAY too smart for TheOldGuy. I waited 'til this morning, when it had shot up to $3.65 ($3.62 with discount card thankyewvurrymuch.) So it cost me $2.21 more today than yestersay for 17 gallons of gol - oops, I mean, gas. Steinar & Julie, want me to send you a gallon or so?

Reminds me of a song, John -- "I hate you more today than yesterday, but OilCo, not as much as tomorrow...."

I would appreciate that Walt...lol

But I`m lucky....the truck I use in my work is owned by the company I work for, so they pay the gas for that. And I live very central...only 5 minutes from downtown Sandnes and 20 minutes from Stavanger....so I drive less than 5000 kilometers a year with my own car.
