On a more somber note, Isaac Hayes the composer of the Grammy Award and Academy Award winning "The Theme of Shaft" has passed away today. He was 65. Reports coming out of the Shelby County (TN) Sheriff's Office have stated that he was found unresponsive near a treadmill by a relative. He was rushed to the nearby Baptist East Hospital in Memphis, but died an hour later.

Have to agree with you John. Isaac Hayes was more than just the creator of the 'Shaft' theme. He was an icon of popular music. He will be missed.

Yeah I'll agree Kman. He was an innovator. They say he was rapping(talking) on songs, long before Barry White and Marvin Gaye ever did. He started out in the juke joints of Memphis and the Deep South in 1958. In 1964, he developed his music so much so that he began working as a pianist for Otis Redding for Stax Records. And later co-wrote with David Porter - some of the hits for Sam and Dave, "I'm Coming," "Hold On" and "Soul Man"....

Apparently so. The County Coroner was working up toxicology tests, and planning on performing an autopsy. I heard this morning that it was a possibly a stroke that he suffered.

Sad to say, it appears that the boomers have died. The last true entry was Julie's Aerosmith. Since then, Bachman Turner Overdrive has been waiting in the wings and feeling neglected. Here now is a tribute to that poor little band.
