Ok guys and gals, the challange is on. We're starting a thread of artists/albums from 1950 to 1979. We'll see how many of you can contribute. Personally, I've got about 6500 songs on my computer, but only about 60% qualifies for this thread. I don't care if you repeat a group or artist, I'd just rather you didn't repeat a specific song by the same artist. For instance, Muskrat Love was done by both America and The Captain and Tenille (whoa, we've already thrown most of you into a major episode of 'What the fuck!'.) Please bear with us. If you actually take the time to listen to the tunes we post, you might find that you actually like them and you want to hear more. So press on, hippies. We've finally got a sounding board!
And by the way, I'm starting the thread with America, Today is the day. Listen to it and tell me what you think.

What the hell is this? We jump from America to Little Eva? Whose alphabet are you using? Damn, boy! Has Julie's body got you that confused? Calm down, think about one those gorgeous nipples in your mouth. Remember, B is after A. That's it. Concentrate on the nipple. B after A. There you go. Now, give me a 'B'.

We'll need some rules here - maybe some limits here as well... Do we have to name a song or album along with the artist? Alphabetically? That is a good start.
Any type of music? - singers; such as Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Perry Como or Sammy Davis Jr., Rosemary Clooney, Connie Francis, or Ella Fitzgerald, or big band swing era; Benny Goodman, Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey, Hoagy Carmichael? American, English, Australian, and Canadian straight rock and roll? Early rock and roll - Elvis Presley, Buddy Holly, Bill Haley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Chuck Berry, Fats Domino, Little Richard? On-the-sidewalk ocapella groups, aka doo-wop? Or groups that came out of it - Dion and the Belmonts? How about early Ska? What about American deep Mississippi Delta blues? Blues from Memphis? Folk music too? Then nicknames are allowed too? - McKinley Morganfield aka Muddy Waters? Chester Burnett aka Howlin Wolf? How about the dual persons Sunny Boy Wlliamson - the real Sunny Boy Williamson or the more famous Rice Miller? - Miller was the one Robert Plant imitated on "Bring It Back Home" off Led Zeppelin II? Then Pre-Beatles surf music - Jan and Dean, the Beach Boys? .. [The Beatles by themselves, in the Beatles Forum or in combination with i.e., The Beatles vs. Rolling Stones Forum done already] .. Then English invasion music besides the Beatles? Motown? The English groups making the blues of the late 1960s, i.e., John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers, Alexis Corner and Blues Incorporated, Cream, Led Zeppelin, Fleetwood Mac, Savoy Brown, and the American counter; Taj Mahal, Jimi Hendrix, Canned Heat, Ry Cooder, Johnny Winter and Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top? Country music too? And lastly, from disco to new wave - the Village People, Donna Summer and the Bee Gees to Devo to the Cars to the Talking Heads? The list goes on and on and on.. With duplicates too? - This will truly will never end!
America was the first.
You need a "B" Okay here goes. I'll be the second - Buddy Guy. Legendary blues guitarist

I have to admit I have no defense against Walt, although alphabetically would make it easier to keep up with. Unfortunately, that's probably an even better incentive for Walt to rebel. As far as the type of music, that's part of the objective: to expand your tastes. I have at least one song from every of the artists you mentioned on my computer if not dozens. (Love Frank Sinatra). The only problem I see is that the limitation of uploading is 2 Mb and most of the songs are 3.5 - 4 Mb. So I won't be able to give you the song, just the name and artist. Regardless, party on, dudes!

Well that's true. There is no defense against Walt. Haha. I'm glad we got the ground rules out of the way, so anything goes. That's good. This will also be a popular post!!

Well, since we're going out of order, I'll throw in 'These Dreams' by Heart. I actually used that as the inspiration to write a book. Lot of good it did me, but I satisfied one of my life goals.

If you guys want, I can increase the upload limit to 5 meg for a month or so just while this thread is going on, that way we can all share the music, I would love those songs, I'll use them in camshows and stuff.... At some point afterwards I'd remove them if necessary because of bandwidth or storage issues, but we can see how it goes...
Perfection is not attainable, but if we chase perfection we can catch excellence.

About Heart - I'm just wondering is Mark Andes still alive? I know that his bandmate in Spirit, Randy California has been gone for over ten years in January - since his tragic drowning in Hawaii in 1997.
C'mon people ... A... B... C...
Canned Heat - "The Bear" Bob Hite is gone as well as "Blind Owl" Alan Wilson. I think Larry Taylor and Harry Vestine still play together in small venues. But what a harmonica player Al was... His bumble bee vocals on "On the Road Again" and "Going Up the Country". Then Bob's vocals on "Let's Work Together" - the Wilbert Harrison song. Good stuff.

"Bits and Pieces" was good too.
So Bat ... we've "retired" your Bands Listed Alphabetically. Oh well. It was good while it lasted.
Allright "E"...
The Eagles... Hotel California. Joe Walsh's first album with them, after leaving the James Gang.

K'man, alphabetically is just fine. And, in fact, may be the preferred way to make keeping track of earlier entries easier. I had started an excel file for Bats' thread, but stopped after the third round. Being as it is your thread, let me suggest that you keep track, altho there are so many (you selected quite a wide range,) that repeats will probably be few and far between.
I might suggest listing performers alphabetically, with one song as you suggested. How about repeats? If it's groups and songs, if, in round 3 I do Elvis and Jailhouse Rock, in round 4 can I do Elvis and Love Me Tender, or is that a repeat?
So, do you want to make it 1 performer, no repeats, with any song they've done? Problem with having repeats with a different song is that most every performer has done at least one album, which means 10 - 12 songs. 10 albums? 100 songs (and 100 separate entries on the list.)
I'm making this way too difficult, aren't I? OK, back in my cage.

Vicky, the 5 Mg would be great. You may have to get a 2nd 500 Gig hard drive, though.
Walt, my way of thinking would say no, that's not a repeat. I'm for as many songs as we can get.
And 'Catch Us If You Can' is another song that's on my playlist. We hear it in the ER frequently.
Damn I love this stuff!

"F" - Fleetwood Mac - off the album, Then Play On - Peter Green singing his "Rattlesnake Shake" - as it's appropriate for the website.
I'm so crazy!! Haha.
