Some of our Florida friends are directly in harms way and I am relieved to hear that they are headed to higher ground or are in a safe place to ride out the storm.

Even in times of trouble sometimes our sense of humour gets us through. Apparently Sally has opened a swingers shelter in Naples (good for her), and Vicky has left giant Rubber Duck behind to ride out the storm.

We hope Rubber Duck makes it. He needs to make more appearances in Vicky's videos in the future.

Update: Vicky and Rokkerr are on the road headed to Alabama. The storm continues to look like it's veering toward the west side of the state, so they decided to bug out. Safe travels, y'all.

UPDATE: They've made it to Alabama all ready. Great progress. Getting out early in the AM was a good idea. They can find a good place to stay and have a nice weeks vacation. Sweet Home Alabama, where the skies are so blue.

Charlee Chase is getting out, but hasn't left yet. Hope she has a smooth trip. May have to drive to Northern Alabama or further west to find a room.

Kelley Cabbana is hunkering in place, but she is in Orlando, so no worries from water - just high winds. Safe hunkering, Kelley.

Looks like Charlee Chase waited too long and can't get out now. She says they're boarded up and sandbagged up, and are as ready as they can get. Pray for their safety.

Thanks for the update on Vicky and Rokkerr. I am sure glad they finally decided to leave to a safer place. I pray for all the people in Florida, it has to be terrible to have to leave your home and possessions behind. It is always better to be safe than sorry. Keep us posted Walt!

Charlee says their house is a "concrete bunker" lol. More people are coming over. So, sounds to me like they'll be ok. She says they're well stocked, too.

Yeah we got the update last night at 11 pm that it was coming directly over Tampa st.pete and it will still be a cat 3 or 4 by the time it gets there. We were already under mandatory evac orders that we were going to ignore along with 70% of our neighbors. We were planning hurricane party cause no one took it too seriously, but after that last shift a lot of people changed their minds. There is now only 25% of our neighbors staying if that. So we took a nap, got up at 2 left at 3 and got here at 10 ish this morning. There was no traffic at all, and 40% gas stations still hv gas. I still don't think it's too late if someone wanted to leave. (Tampa I mean, not keys or south fl) If u use waze u can see exactly where the traffic is and gas buddy can show u who still has gas. We didn't hit any traffic till Tallahassee.... Inland is fine but if u live by beach u should still go. My 2 cents.

I'm in Tampa, in a condo. I am leaving tonight and going about 70 miles east. We have a data center over there, and the building it is in is built to withstand a CAT5 hurricane. It is still 1500 miles away at this point, but it is making me a little anxious.
Last year my condo got flooded by a leak in the unit upstairs from mine(not due to storm). The person who owned it did not live there or rent it out. I was out of town, so nobody realized til it got to the unit below me. The restoration company that my insco hired sucked, and I was out of my place for 7 months(most of my stuff packed up, moved out and stored at their facility. So If I get hit again, I am going to freak out! Luckily I updated my sliding glass door on my balcony, so it is supposed to be able to withstand hurricane winds.

Besides being safe, I know that our power will be out for a long time, we considered just going inland or to a shelter, but we would still have the electricity issue. Sitting there sweating, with no internet, so no productivity, sucks for me. Yes we are workaholics! The porn must go on! lol.... So we came about 400 miles from home to totally avoid it and at least we can work! Might not stay here though, we are somewhere in bumfuck Alabama, it sure aint the Hilton! I think i hear banjos playing off in the distance lol.... don't get me wrong, I'm happy we got it, some people are sleeping in their cars, but I think we will relocate in a day or two...

Vicky they may get the power back up quickly since many of the utility companies have been pre positioning work trucks also some of the folks coming in from various spots are going to help with that
i know California sent a bunch of first responders plus folks who can help with the power grids cause we have to be goos at that for earthquakes, fires and our rainy season

This is going from bad to worse.... It moved more westward and the eye is predicted to be right over st.Pete! (Yesterday they were predicting Tampa). We will have to move again, Dothan Alabama is going to get hit by the other bands and will still be a cat 1 by the time it gets here. So we will go to mobile or gulf shores but having trouble finding a hotel/motel that will take our dogs with us. They are already running out of gas here too. Dave was lucky to find gas this morning. Do me a favor and retweet me!

Where did Tampa bay go?

Proof that you can still leave if you want to! My girlfriend Gina finally left Tampa last night and drove to south Carolina. She got a full tank of gas in Tampa and said she barely saw any other cars on the road. She said it was a piece of cake.

But I think last night was maybe your last chance. Pinellas county ordered a mandatory curfew. Not sure what that means? If u are outside u get arrested? Every single bridge is closed. If there is any good news its that it downgraded from a 4 to a 3 for my area.

I hv 1 crazy neighbor across the street from me who is still there. He is directly on the water I am across the street from the water (I couldn't afford that side of the street lol...) He sent his wife and kids up to atlanta but still insists on staying home to "take care of the house"! wtf! Who does he think he is? Superman? What is he possibly going to do to change what is going to happen? We checked with him last night and again this morning. Still being stubborn.

I was chatting with my brother who is in the national guard. They hate people like that because the firemen and Nat guard and first responders (who have their own families to protect) now have to risk losing their own lives to go rescue them.
