We had tough murder this past weekend, it starts at 7:30am, it was 2C. I thought about wearing a long sleeved top and sweats to keep warm, but it won't help, so a tank top and shorts, cold is cold. After our warm up I felt good, the first thing we hit was the ice bath. You walk on a balance beam above a pit of ice water and mud. I took about 4 steps and down I went. We went as a team your only as fast as the slowest person, we had 2 new people who went ahead cause we were going to slow, I thought, good luck. It's 18kms of pure hell, by the early afternoon it had warmed up, so the sun felt good, but I was still so cold. Towards the end there's a mud pit, it's deep and gross, well there's the couple that took off ahead of us, stuck in the mud, they couldn't help each other. When they saw us, they say, so good to see you, we need help. I said, not likely, we're a team that you didn't want to be a part of, and we helped each other through. We ran through the electrified hanging wires to end, most of us had lost at least one shoe. When the couple that left us finished and she finished screaming at me, I told her, we leave as a team and finish as a team, you chose to go it on your own. A little while later she apologized to all of us, so we hugged and all went for a shower and supper. There was a water truck there to spray the mud off, if you wanted, I did it, but that water was freezing. When I fell in the ice water, I screamed, I'm never doing this again, but now a few days later, I'm looking forward to next years
