No Walt I meant murder, I was ready to kill, or be killed :signhammer:

Keep it up Walt, I've been using my fitness pal for a few years now, it's the best app I've found so far.

Vicky you would have loved our stair climbing yesterday, I'm at home and there's a town called Devon. They built stairs going to the river, there's 173 stairs, if I counted right. It's not one giant staircase, it's like 8 stairs then a landing, other places maybe 15 stairs, so it's broken up good. We did things like shuttle runs, up and down, hopping, sideways runs. When we left everyone's legs were burning, then I got a notice on my fit bit that I had climbed 2736 stairs in one hour, that explains my legs wanting to fall off

Not sure Julie reads the joke thread, so thought I'd put this here. It is sports related (ice fishing.)

Since Julie lives way the hell up North, in Bumfuck, Canada (about 2 deer trails over from Santa, lol,) She occasionally goes out on the ice. Sam was wandering out there one day when he came across Julie, whom he saw sprinkling green peas around a hole in the ice. Sam, of course, scratched his head, then approached Julie.

"What cha doin', Julie?"
Julie replied, "Hunting Polar bear, Sam."
"What?" Sam said, rather surprised. "Polar bear hunting? How the devil are you doing that?"
"It's easy, Sam, "Julie replied. "See my Polar bear trap?"
"No, Julie, all I see is you sprinkling veggies around a hole in the ice."
"That's my trap, Sam."
"Well, how the devil does that work."
"It's easy, Sam," Julie replied. "I just cut a hole in the ice and sprinkle all these peas around it. Then when the bear comes up to take a pea, I kick him in the ice hole."

Oh I think I found my thread. I will admit, fitness and living well is kind of my thing. I'm really into the concept of balanced living. I think as humans things like weight and fitness levels ebb and flow. It's just about having a good overall lifestyle. Know when to rest and know when to move. I've been at points where I've tormented myself to look extremely fit for certain scenes. I've also, gone the other way where I let myself put on a few pounds. These days, I'm just after what feels good for me not only physically but mentally. I'm really into the concept of Mindhacking or Lifehacking. I understand the wellness industry by and large is one big scam. Most of it is someone trying to sell a diet or a plan. People get trapped on diet treadmills. But what feels complete mind and body. That's what I am after.

I'm someone who loves exercise. If I go a day without movement. Like I'm on my computer all day. I actually ache. I have to move. I get stressed and anxious. I like having a dog because I find can kind of see my own behaviors in him. Since, we do so much together. He is a great reminder to move. It helps with stress and worry for me too.

Food.... I love it. I just love to eat. Just not too much. I hate being full. That took me a bit. Especially, since I grew up in a family that loved to eat amazing foods. My parents were really into buying from a small market or growing their own in the garden. My family growing up cooked for armies. I find portion control was key. I started kind of listening to my body. I crave good goat cheeses often and I keep goat cheese on hand. I've done the crazy low carb diets and I find I hate life. I need pasta. I grew up making our own fresh pasta. That's what I do now. It's so filling and good. I actually keep homemade pasta in my freezer.

I would think that balanced eating seems to be key. I read what Vicky and Julie post about eating and am trying to come around. My problem is I usually only have one thing for dinner. some frozen crap like I've mentioned before. But I will try and take frozen or packaged things and add my own stuff. You know, fresh veggies, for example. I am starting to realize that several small samples is much better than one large sample of one thing.

I still make my own chili, because I know the beans are good for me. So I do usually add lean hamburger, but spices (garlic, chili powder, etc,) usually a diced onion and a diced tomato, simmer it all up and portion it out and freeze what I don't eat then.

making your own frozen stuff could be an idea? ever hear of freezer cooking? there are recipes all over pinterest under the subject freezer cooking. People take a few hours once a month to brown up meats and what have you. they portion out stir fry and what not. just heat up the item, like you would the frozen junk. Homemade is normally better. I admit, I even do this. like you i keep stables. like spinach, basil, cilantro, carrots, peppers and tomato. i find it's nice to chop it up. i should share some of the recipes I invented some day. All of them are crazy easy. I only make like 2 portions. one for that day, then for the next day.

i get not wanting to be all day in a hot kitchen. I don't like air conditioning so, I tend to not use it. I just open the windows and let the ocean blow in. But I know in west texas that can be a little harder to do.

Yes, Samantha. We don't get a lot of ocean breezes here. I mean, I've got great sandy beaches right outside my window. But it's 700 friggin' miles to the water, :lmfao: :nanah:

Yeah, that's my thinking when I'm cooking up my chili. And sometimes with a few other things I can make up. But I don't have specific recipes. I'll watch for your posts. And I'll take a look at pinterest. I've also made up stir-fry beef with thin sliced onion, green and red pepper, (can not, for the life of me, remember what they call it. It's not really stir fry - or maybe it is, lol,) and frozen some. I guess I could make larger batches. It does come out pretty good.

Well one of the medicine I take for diabetes, I have to be careful on exercise, when both me and my mom told the doctor, we both take the same medicine, that we thought about working out, he goes I wouldn't advise it as the medicine can lower your sugar fast if you do anything overexerting and when I over did some chores my sugar has dropped low a couple times, but I also knew what to do to get it back up.

One of the members (I'm guessing) hung a flag outside of the gym and it says.

The beatings will continue, till moral improves!

Sounds about right. We've been doing some ladders lately, yesterdays was;

Lengths of turf 10-1
Push ups 1-10

Box Jumps 10-1
Plank Jacks 1-10

Jump Squats 10-1
Jumping Jacks 1-10

Laterial Lunges 10-1
Mountian Climbers 1-10
How it works is you pick one to start ie: running the turf 10 lengthes, followed by 1 push up, then 9 lengthes of tuff, then 2 push ups, till your done. I gave everyone 30 minutes to finish, I thought was lots of time, but some didn't think so. Then we had a nice finisher of 30-10, so 30 seconds of work with a 10 second break
V-sit sprawls
Plank
band pull aparts
running the turf
Goblet Squats
Bear Crawl
There's always some complaining from people, but I do the workout the night before, to make sure it can be done in 40 minutes, then with the warm ups and streaching it's the 1 hour class :benchpress: :nichon: :rooster: :strong: :situps:

Every Friday is games day at the gym, snakes & ladders, battleship, this last Friday was trouble. It's always so relaxing, to watch. We have 4 teams, you start out by running the turf to a table with go fish cards on it, you needed to get a match to start playing, if you never matched, run back and try again. The last team to get a match gets to run an extra 6 lengths. When you got your match you went to the trouble game, there's 4 colours on the game. You rolled the die and whatever colour you were on at the time you picked a matching piece of paper, there was a fun thing to do, like 10 lengths of the turf, 8 hanging ring pull ups, 6 chin ups. Every colour had 15 different fun filled things to do. The winning team got to pick what the losers did for a finisher, most picked bear crawls, of course i had the winners show the losers how to do them. Always so much fun :yeahbaby:
