Some things that come to mind that should be inexpensive in the Caribbean are eggs, avocado, rice, dried fruit and swordfish. Nuts and cheese, but they may be pricey.

If you ever see me running, you better run too, because something's happening haha.
Having too much sex can cause memory loss. I read that on page 69 in a medical journal on the 4th of May in 2008.

I've found that the easiest way to get a girl to run away from me is to promise to marry her.

if you're running, Liz, I'll run, too. Just remember, we don't have to outrun each other. We only have to outrun all them other people back there behind us, :rotffl:

The run is done.

Its all downhill from here - shorter days, dropping temperatures, birds flying south, sleet and ice....

I really do need to get myself sorted out. I, like many others, put on weight over the last 18 months... what didn't help was I was putting it on top of what I had already gained back when I had a hernia a few years ago. Couldn't do anything too strenuous while I had it, and after the operation to fix it again couldn't do anything for around 3 months. So I am quite a bit heavier than I used to be and would like to be again... what doesn't help is I tend to end my working week with with a celebratory takeaway for making it another 5 days there lol. BUT I have, now that I have no use for one side of the double garage, set up a treadmill, punch bag, trampoline and various other little bits to hopefully help burn some of it off - or at least improve my stamina!

Do you need to control your eating a little, Stevie? I"m no nutritionist, but I know that what you eat affects that, too. And, yes, weight loss takes dedication. Good to see you see starting something. I never got into exercise. I wouldn't want to be a fanatic about it. But regular, everyday exercise for an hour or so (?) seems to be beneficial. Good luck!

Thank you - well I will admit that the last year my eating habits went all up in the air. Lots of grief and stress were leading me to comfort eat A LOT... I don't smoke or drink but I do like to eat, and that's where I was finding a lot of solace! I do need to cut out the snacking between meals for sure, but I also used to go out walking almost every evening and that's something I am finding hard to do by myself alone.

Thanks to Julia I had started to change my eating habits in December 2019 and my daughter has made the changes along with me. I have tried to add some healthy choices to what we bring into the house and not a lot of junk food. I cook a lot more and not a lot of take out food. I am doing exercises more. I have gotten back into more martial arts which is usually twice a week. (Hopefully I can keep it up after I go back to work at the school.) At 63 it is not so easy some days to want do the exercise but I know I feel better when I do. I don't have much money but I know I have a few weights I can work with and even a medicine ball. So I keep working out cause I have so much more to do!!

Zany
Enjoy each day we are not promised tomorrow!

Like I've mentioned, I do little exercise. That's primarily because I never did it earlier, so my bod isn't attuned to that sort of thing. I also don't cook much any more, mainly single items, like a ham steak or a hamburger or bacon and eggs, lol. I do miss cooking meals, or certain dishes, like Green Chili Chicken Enchiladas. Village Inn has those on their breakfast menu, so I still get my fix, lol.

But I try to keep a veggie tray in the fridge. For $10, I get a tray with 4 or 5 or 6 cut up veggies in it. Baby carrots, grape tomatoes, celery and broccoli, for example. The trays come with ranch dressing usually. But I like my Kens Honey Mustard or Thousand Island. IF you ever see it, try Kens. I think it's great. Have tried 3 varieties and liked them all.

There's also fruit trays that have apples, grapes and maybe a couple other fruits. Those are good, too. Not well-rounded meals, but hopefully, I'm getting most of the nutrients I should be getting.

I actually didn't put on any weight due to covid. But then, covid didn't really change my life style much as I always used to work from home as much as possible. Covid just meant that I could stop going in to client sites to "show the flag" so clients knew I hadn't forgotten about them.

In one respect, I'm probably fortunate in that if I do start putting on weight, I start to feel flabby and actually don't feel like eating any more. So it becomes a self regulating cycle in the right direction. I did once go on a "near keto" diet and found it, in conjunction with exercise, to be very effective for weight loss.

I think I've always been a healthy eater, though I MUST have dessert after dinner. I did start watching what I eat when I was told I was diabetic and have high cholesterol. However, I'm not convinced that diet has much impact on cholesterol. 70% of a person's cholesterol is produced internally, so diet only has a limited impact. And its even more limited, because reduced intake of high cholesterol foods simply results in the body producing more to compensate.

I've found that with a regular cardio routine and a couple of pills, I can ignore all dietary restrictions and keep both my cholesterol and sugar under control.

I hung around 140 - 145 in my younger days (6 feet tall.) I spent a couple years on the bum in the late '60's, hitch-hiking around the country, working day-labor jobs for money and being pretty active. Then, when I went to Alaska, I worked at a remote site about 200 miles west of Anchorage. There were 7 of us, and the cook was a wonder-worker. He put out great meals. The first 3 months I put on 30 pounds. My exercise level went down, too. My food intake went up as my activity dropped.

I stayed there for a few years. Later on, I started controlling my weight by watching my waistline. If my pants got too tight, I would change my eating habits and lose a few lbs. I swore I wasn't going to buy new clothes, I was going to lose the weight. But as I moved into my 60's, numerous things changed and I started slowly adding weight. I got up to 200 - 210 lbs. Wasn't happy with it at all.

Then, a couple years ago, I decided to get serious about it. No, sorry, no more exercise  but I started eating mostly veggies. Over several months I dropped 30 lbs. and I now average about 173. A few more pounds off wouldn't be bad, but I am quite happy where I am now. I seem to be maintaining it, so we'll see where it goes.
