That's so true, Travis. Do you remember the guy who went out and ate nothing but McD's for a month or so? Like to killed him. (YouTube - search for "Supersize me.")

I remember an EM I got - had a picture of a college in Japan and one in the USA.

In the Japanese picture, all the students were in nice clothes, nice hair, standing respectfully with their books in their arms.

In the USA picture, the closest thing I can describe is "Animal House."

It may have been meant as a 'funny,' but I think it's way too close to the truth.

The Book is by Morgan Spurlock The book and movie are a total eye opener to anyone!

Most nutritionists recommend not eating fast food more then once a month!

It takes 7 hours of straight walking to burn off a supersized Coke, fries and Big Mac!

Obesity-related illnesses will kill around 400,000 Americans in 2005 (40,000 Canadains) in 2005-almost as many as smoking!

The young generation today is said to have a shorter life expectancy then there parents that's so sad.

It's not just Mcd's it's all of them, they just are the biggest and makes them a bigger target. There's 14 of us in this county trying to get all the pop and junk food machines removed from the schools. We want them to have healthy choices and juices and water. School superintendents are so against us all they look at is the bottom line and not the fact there killing the kids they care so much for??? Lays and Dorritos are owned by Philip Morris. :1106:

Its not McDonald's or other fastfood restaurants decision to make people eat there. It's their own choice to eat that food. I don't understand how those people get to be like 600+ lbs. Sure its an eating "disorder" which I think is bogus if you want to stop eating so much you can. I'd be pissed off if they took the cafeteria out of my school and only had salads and stuff.

If the parent doesn't want their kid to be obese then put them in some sports.

Julie,

I "flirt" with you a lot but I actually would want to have you help me lose a lot of weight and get back into shape.

How much truth is there to this line: "I eat badly because I get depressed, and I get depressed because I eat badly"?

True, but then there's the whole free will thing and willpower. Humans can be finiky that way.

check this out, how many calories are there in a BIGMAC? 560calories, add 400-500 more for fries, and supersized Coke 410

So its like 1500 calories for just 1 meal. Supposed to be 2000 for the whole day for an average man.

Add breakfast and diner and no excercise, lets just say your pants aren't gonna fit ya anymore in about a week! lol

Stiffy & Julie,

But did you know this?

Thursday, November 20, 2008

Canada's two largest airlines must give disabled and morbidly obese passengers an extra free seat on domestic flights, beginning in January, after the Supreme Court refused yesterday to consider the carriers' appeal of a federal order. Air Canada and WestJet failed in their pitch for the court to consider a January 2008 decision from the Canadian Transportation Agency that gave them one year to implement new policies.

There must be lots of Big Mac eating somewhere in Canada too!

Pete that statement is so true, and it's true with so many things. Then see a doctor and get him to run all his tests, tell him or her you want to loose weight, but you want to do it right! Then listen to him and I would join a gym and hire a personal trainer (you really only need to see them about once a month, but don't tell that to the ones that see me weekly). The reason you want a trainer is they'll teach you how to use everything proper and you won't hurt yourself. The reason most people join a gym is for great reasons, but quit because they get frustrated. Remember how long it took to get to where your at and don't expect to get ripped in a month! There will be loads of cardio it gets boring so chance a lot. I'll change machines after 15 minutes if I get bored why not! Drink so much water at least 8 glasses a day. We were told to take your body weight and divide it by 2 and drink that much. You'll only pee buckets for the first while

LJS yeah they wanted the ones that take 2 seats to pay for 2 seats. Our courts siad that's not right so that's where that is. The one's that have a real medical problem I agree, but most have a I can eat anything problem.

Stiffy it's not as easy as just saying no, but that's another rant I have to go outside and work.

Julie,

If I could hire you as my personal trainer I would. My main addiction is to Coca-Cola. I started drinking it in earnest to keep awake at work (I work midnight to 8:30 AM two days a week, but very different hours other days). Scrap that and switch to water or milk and it would help a good bit. But I would also like to just build up a lot of things such as blood pressure and cholesterol reduction, increased oxygenation, and not being tired all the time. I would like to be stronger in some areas and I don't want my washtub gut sticking out.

Other things I would like to change are not as easy. I want to buy a wardrobe of dress-up clothes and workout clothes (no chance of that unless I get those for Christmas) and I want to ease chronic depression. I take a lot of medications which don't help my weight or a lot of other things. I can't quit them, but I'd like to counteract them.

How was Madagascar 2? I have not gone to a movie since my last breakup. It is not only women who don't like to go to a cinema or a performance on their own!

Don't answer this last if you don't want to, but how should we behave around Vanessa if she appears on this board? (Assuming she does.) It sounds very much like you are physically attracted to Vicky, but you have something more with Vanessa. If I date you, I would want Vanessa's approval or at least some agreement for her not to dislike me.

Pete go see a doctor and get a total check up first. Cut out the coke, water is your first choice if you want milk drink skim or 1% nothing more. By what your saying your going to be doing lots of cardio, you can do wieghts but keep the weight low and do lots of reps.

As far as Vanessa goes, she's my best friend. I tell her everything, she's always there to pick me up when I fall on my face. Of course I'm attracted to Vicky, isn't that the reason people join, and they stay because she is such a wonderful person. :cheerleader: :bigjump:

Good advice.

I do have a doctor's appointment in about 12 days and I can talk to the Physician Assistant.

One big problem I have is trying to stay awake and alert while I am taking phone calls. My work schedule is like so totally screwed up. I teach during the day and take phone calls at night, and on Saturday and Sunday mornings I come in at high midnight and work until 8:30 A.M. And they will be damned if they're gonna let me out of THAT schedule. I am also finding out I am going to have a lot of expenses during Christmas and the new year, so I am working many extra hours at the call center. So ... I become a caffeine freak. I sleep at odd hours and often come home from work so pumped up with all I have done that going to sleep is very difficult. (The caffeine is a big part of it, but I don't think it's all.)

I am also going through a bit of culture shock as I find out that too much money is still not enough. I have a whole bunch of people I would like to help out financially (with gifts). I'm helping one of them by moving into her apartment. Actually, I want to move out and I'm not at all sure about having a roommate, but the deal was pretty cheap rent. Maybe I will eat healthier in spite of myself.

Thanks a lot, Julie, for your support. Have the doctors prescribed medications to fend off further heart troubles? I admire your commitment to good health and hope it works out.

Anyone who is going to be attracted to a woman, and doesn't have a specific woman to love, is going to be attracted to Vicky. But would YOU try to tempt a woman who is happily married, especially on a second-chance romance? I wouldn't. They spend about 30 post-puberty years hoping to find each other and let 'em have 30 more together, more if they're healthy. :kissass:

I got away from soda several years ago. Not sure why, it just got too sticky sweet for me. I still have a Sierra Mist once in awhile, but now stick more with V8 Fusion and water, or drinks with little or no sugar (or saccarine.)

Good choices Walt, anything low in sugar that's why water is your best choice. I buy water cause the water in this town really sucks. I also don't drink Poweraide or gaterade unless I'm sick then I have it for the electrolytes that your body needs at that time ask Kman. I wonder if he gets tired of me :kissass:

Keep your salt down low I don't use it on anything. Just about everything you buy has salt in it. I don't know why some people cover there food in salt before they even try it. I read a book by Henry Ford and when he was going to hire someone he would take then for dinner. If they put anything on they're food before they tried it he wouldn't hire them. In his mind they were changing something before they knew what it was. Just use it wisely is all I'm saying, there's lots of salt subsitutes out there.
