My condolences to you Steve and your family as well. I am so very very sorry.

I don't know... but I'm on a Michael Stipe and R.E.M. kick tonight for some reason:

Everybody Hurts

When your day is long and the night
The night is yours alone
When you're sure you've had enough
Of this life, well hang on

Don't let yourself go, 'cause everybody cries
and everybody hurts sometimes

Sometimes everything is wrong,
Now it's time to sing along
When your day is night alone
(Hold on, hold on)
If you feel like letting go
(Hold on)
When you think you've had too much
Of this life, well hang on

'Cause everybody hurts, take comfort in your friends
Everybody hurts

Don't throw your hand, oh no, don't throw your hand
If you feel like you're alone, no, no, no, you're not alone

If you're on your own in this life
The days and nights are long
When you think you've had too much
Of this life to hang on

Well everybody hurts, sometimes everybody cries
And everybody hurts, sometimes

And everybody hurts sometimes so hold on, hold on
Hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on,
Everybody hurts
No, no, no, no, you are not alone

Thank you everyone for your kind thoughts at this difficult time for me. I was quite emotional at the funeral as my grandma holds a special place in my heart. I'm feeling OK now; great being back with the VNA again and looking forward to Vicky's cam2cam chat today.

i've learned years ago, that there are 5 stages of the grieving process. Yes, its gone scientific!

And it really helps alot to know them and follow them at your own pace. After a few times, heartbreak included, you will recognise wich stage you're in, and it will give you solace, a light at the end of the tunnel, so to speak.

Five Stages Of Grief
1) Denial and Isolation.
At first, we tend to deny the loss has taken place, and may withdraw from our usual social contacts. This stage may last a few moments, or longer.

2) Anger.
The grieving person may then be furious at the person who inflicted the hurt (even if she's dead), or at the world, for letting it happen. He may be angry with himself for letting the event take place, even if, realistically, nothing could have stopped it.

3) Bargaining.
Now the grieving person may make bargains with God, asking, "If I do this, will you take away the loss?"

4) Depression.
The person feels numb, although anger and sadness may remain underneath.

5) Acceptance.
This is when the anger, sadness and mourning have tapered off. The person simply accepts the reality of the loss.

its hard being guys sometimes eh? everyone expects you to be strong right out of the gate, someone to lean on during hardship, yet offers no real constructive support to get there. They say life will take care of it. But in this individualistic world we live in, life is not always enough.

Strenght comes from within, but nobody is born confident or not confident, its like a bank account. Sometimes you are rich, sometimes you're in the red. Its necessary to learn to manage your self confidence.

As young children the amount of parental interaction is directly proportional to our feelings of love and confidence because they are our world. As we grow older, other things beggin to affect us as we mature and learn more about the world. There comes a point when your parents aren't enough and you need more, perhaps friends or later a (soul)mate, not only for physical needs but emotional ones aswell.

Sometimes its a matter of luck, like you get a job, they have you do things you're familiar with so you get used to it, to ease you in. Then they ask you to do something you're not familiar with, you get a bit nervous, you try, and if you succeed be proud, look at how you've managed so well.

Thats +1 for confidence.

Doing something difficult will often have such a reward.

Or another example, learn to drive, you pass the exam and you are free to drive were you want, anywhere you choose. That is a good self confidence booster.

Learn to dance, another one. And both of these will actually help meeting someone.

If you're one of those lucky ones to have found your soulmate, you will live on to have a good life.

And for others, what you can do is realize that you are in charge of your own life, i know it sounds like a big thing, that you are in charge of how you feel, but at your own pace you've been slowly taking control of that part of your life , doing little things to make yourself feel better. shopping, eating, its ok, just don't over do it, too much of a good thing eh ?

And you'll see that even if some big thing jostles us to the core, we have the capacity to make ourselves feel better. it may take time or it may be quick. it all depends on the event and how we deal with things. There is always help.

if you feel comfortable with people around you while you are sad, you can talk to them
you can lean on them, and offer your support aswell.

Family and friends but also online friends.

i myself like to find a nice calm spot were i can be comfortable and if need be, shed a few tears.

You feel so much better after, lighter. And yes it may come back i won't bs you, it may come back in waves, little waves, but for the time being after a good cry you feel a little bit of relief from the grief. The tide is pulling out. you feel better and you can do something productive. Don't worry about later.

its a process, one that will take some time, but you can take heart in knowing that you'll feel better one day, soon i hope.

i've dealt with my own share of grief and this has helped me to better understand how i felt and what was happening during the process.

i hope this helps someone who recently lost a loved one,
Rene

Stiffy started this as a personal tribute, I'm hoping that he won't mind if I somewhat hijack it. We've all heard that it happens in threes. I know all have heard of Ed McMahon. Today we also lost Farrah Fawcett, whom we expected, and Michael Jackson, whom we didn't expect. Whatever you thought of Michael Jackson, he was a superstar who earned his place on pop history. He is, as are all of them, a tragic loss.

May they live on thru their memories.

They said Michael's heart just stopped. He died of cardiac arrest. Yes, I remember him as a little kid, he was twelve (I was eight) with his brothers Tito, Jackie, Jermaine and Marlon in the Jackson 5 ... and the early hit songs he sang from "ABC," "I Want You Back," "The Love You Save," and "I'll Be There," then later "Rockin Robin" and "Ben" all on the Motown label. "Ben" from the Willard and Ben films, about rats.

The very successful Thriller album brought him back... Eddie Van Halen played on it as well as did Paul McCartney.

He bought into the rights of the Beatles catalog to Northern Songs Publishing Ltd outbidding Paul McCartney, Yoko Ono and the Estate of John Lennon. He later merged their entire catalog into Sony Music Entertainment. He became friends with Tony Mottola, the head of Sony Music Entertainment, then later they became bitter enemies. They stopped him from recording, and they put all sorts of restrictions from his contract and they enforced it. The lawyer representing Jackson was found to be a part of Sony so a conflict of interest occurred. Jackson later called Mottola the "devil" and a "racist" and his Sony partner Irv Gotti a "fat nigger" when the business relationship dissolved. Not good. More court proceedings. Much red tape which led to eventually postponing the release of his Invincible album. He later did release it about a year after leaving Sony Music Entertainment.

The Jackson family struggles with Janet and LaToya, his sisters and all the abuse claims they made against their father, Joe. The father was a found out to be a pervert, and they had orders of protection out against him.

Then all the self mutilation -- plastic surgeries -- Way too many facial reconstructions. That last one was really bad, as it gave him a square jaw. He was trying to look white. Maybe too much so. He became a freak to be ridiculed. Then the break up of his many marriages, Lisa Marie Presley, Deborah Jeanne Rowe and one more, who he never named publicly. He did have three children, two sons and a daughter.

Then sadly, the child molestation and child abuse allegations made against him at the Neverland Ranch that had him leaving the US for Dubai. He had just came back to the US and was renting that house in Beverly Hills when he died. His dad found him unconscious and he called the Los Angeles Fire Department. He died in the hospital. The upcoming concerts in London, of course, are cancelled.

Actually four Walter .... if you count David Carradine from three weeks ago.

You're right, John, 4. I heard a report that they waited up to two hours before they called the EMTs, trying to rescusitate him themselves. One EMT said he was cold to the touch when they got there.

If true, that means that his entourage, the people he trusted to protect him, failed him. But, as always happens, rumors abound.

Now they are are saying that a doctor was present there at the house, all along? Strange stuff. The family is in their compound in Encino not commenting on any stories. The coroner's office did release his body, so they are making funeral arrangements, should be soon. They will have a cause of death after they do the toxicology and neurological tests, within three weeks or so.

Whoever had him on their "death pool" made a fortune.

Now we heard rumors of... Jeff Goldblum, and of course, Patrick Swayze.

The Jeff Goldblum death reports were Twitter hoaxes; he is, AFAIK, very much alive and well.

Patrick Swayze is pretty damn sick, but as of this moment, he's pretty much alive.

The next domino to possibly fall, though; Walter Cronkite of CBS News fame.

Well, I'll be damned. I hadn't heard about Billy Mays. Giggled it and, sure enough, he's gone, too. 7:45 AM today (Sunday.) He was only 50, too. Should THeOldGuy worry? Not me. Loving the gorgeous and lively VNA commander and her adjutants keeps me hopping - not to mention trying to stay away from Julie trying to stick a bat up my ass. :lmao: :fighting: :iloveyou: :signhammer: :iloveyou:  :walt:

I was getting pretty sick of his loud mouth, but certainly never wanted this. May he RIP as well.

DAMN! All of a sudden we're dropping like flies. Fred wasn't my favorite, but he was good.

Meanwhile, OJ carries on, albeit in the slammer with his new cellmate Bruno. I wonder which one's the girl?
