The Official Where are You From/Introduce Yourself Thread

I figured since we were getting so many members from all over the world that it might be nice to see where everyone is from. Vicky just got a new member today from Karachi Pakistan. We had a member from Saba, a small island in the Carribean. I am going to mark down the locations on a map just out of interest. It is getting tough to remember where everyone is located. So.............. I will get the ball rolling.....

Born in Lafayette, Louisiana, raised and still resides just north of there in the city of Opelousas, deep in the heart of what is called "Acadiana" (aka, "Cajun Country") in South Central Louisiana. Mostly, because of the food.

Clifton Chenier, who is renowned as the Father of Zydeco, was raised here, and Jim Bowie, who invented the Bowie Knife and was one of the casulties at the Battle of the Alamo, was also born and raised here..but if we had any R&R legends in my home town, they must have been real silent.

I'm from a farm near Millet Alberta, moved to Surrey (yes Stiffy that Surrey) hated it.

Moved to Edmonton that didn't work, now I'm back on the farm believe it I'm happy

Yes Jimi Hendrix was top of the bill at the infamous 1970 festival,where 600,000 fans turned up,as the islands population was about 100,000 chaos resulted.Mind you as it was sited in a valley by camping on the hillsides as opposed to enetering the site it was probably the biggest free show ever.
This was the third island festival and because of it the last for 32 years.It was revived in 2002 with a better site and a limited attendance and is going strong,this years is on June 12,13 and 14th
