Well, I'm not really traveling anywhere right now, but I went out and got my car customized today. I did a really good job, and figured you folks would want to see some pics,
I wasn't hurt at all. The girl I rear ended had some neck pain, but the EMTs checked her out, and she drove home. So I'm thankful for all that. I was distracted by a line of cars in the next lane that had stopped, and I didn't know why. When I looked ahead again, I saw that the car in front of me was stopped, a big-ass green light visible in front of her. I stomped the skids, but was too close and rammed her pretty good. Didn't seem to hurt her car much. It looked like, when I hit the skids, the nose of my car dropped down, and I pretty much drove under her rear bumper. It was a 2003 Dodge Neon, and the rear of it is kind of high. Main thing we weren't hurt, except maybe for her neck. I hope she's ok. She was a really nice girl, about 25. Oh, and, too late, I found that everyone had stopped because there was an ambulance coming the other way. This intersection is very congested, with lots of delivery and semi trucks going thru it, not to mention all the damn SUVs that you can't see thru or over. I never saw the ambulance until afterwards.
Be careful out there.

Amazing how all that plastic bumper shit just folds up and the hoods go V to prevent jamming into the winshield.

The cop picked up all the crap off the street and put it in my trunk, so I told the body shop where it was in case they wanted to just glue it all back together.

And those will be the parts that you can't see....
Gotta love auto body shops... one showed me how to use a hairdryer to meld out the scratches and some dents on a bumper... use some filler paint, spray it and it looks as good as new. Then charge for a new replacement bumper.
Always worry about front end problems that auto bodies seldomly worry about - radiators, electrical and so on...
and all this at 10mph.... but I didn't see the bags deployed in the picture

They didn't deploy. Not sure what's up with that. I did have some front end work done a year ago. Possibly something disconnected and not reconnected. This car ('99) doesn't have an air-bag check as part of the instrument panel lights.
Hers didn't either, but not sure how they act in a rear-end collision.
I know this is a good shop. I had some work done there a while back, and they impressed me with their thoroughness. Progressive has an agent right in the shop. I trust Progressive, (not my insurance Co.) so I trust the shop.
Speaking of car insurance, anyone recognise this comedienne?

Went shopping this morning. Spent 20 minutes in the parking lot looking for my damn car before I remembered I was in the van.

So no one recognises The Unknown Comedienne? Does the name Flo ring a bell?
Looks like USAA is gonna give me $5000 for my car after my deductible. They apparently went to great lengths to get me a fair value. I was expecting about $1500, so this makes me feel a lot better.
I really feel that USAA has really treated me fairly with this accident. If you are eligible, I would strongly suggest you contact them. I have been paying about $700/yr for two vehicles.
USAA is for military, retired military, and family (including children if your parents were members.) Follow this link to find out if you are eligible.

Not many companies can beat their prices OR services. Sorry, Flo.

Yep, that's why, "speaking of car insurance...." She's become quite popular.
Speaking of The Unknown Comic:
Speaking of The Gong Show, this was very close to my all time favorite TV show. Even Married With Children never made me laugh this much.
Favorite Host: Chuck Barris
Favorite Panelist: Jaye P. Morgan
Favorite Act: Gene Gene the Dancing Machine.
(Don't know why they cut this clip short.)

Yes, he was and Walt has UL'd a script. Amazing what is on the world wide web these days.....boltman wrote: BTW, wasn't the Unknown Comic a guy with a paper bag over his head?
THe reason, I commented on the Unknown as when walt originally loaded the Youtube segment it came up blank... He pulled a Torp

BTW, Sir Walt, I meant to tell you how relieved I am that you weren't hurt. As much as I'm looking forward to meeting Vicky, Rok, and whoever else shows up at Adultcon, I'm also anxious to get to know the Grand Old Man of the VNA! Glad you're safe and sound.

Thanks for the thoughts, Boltman. My thoughts, of course, are with the lady I hit. As soon as I can get the accident report, I'm going to call her and make sure she's OK.
Oh, and the same goes for me re: Adultcon. See you there. I promise I won't shave first.

You lost me on this one, Torp. I saw your earlier comment, too, but am not sure what you're talking about. Do you mean the Flo clip? It came up fine for me first time I posted it.Torp wrote: Yes, he was and Walt has UL'd a script. Amazing what is on the world wide web these days.....

Yes, the video when I first came up it was a blank screen. When I went in subsequent to that it was fine... It could be that I saw it when you were first loading it in. I've noticed that if a thread changes with two people editing it, one edit may not go in. I have lost an edit at times and on another time, send back to the point as if I was going to post it the first time. Probably a glitch in the blab software...Torp wrote: You lost me on this one, Torp. I saw your earlier comment, too, but am not sure what you're talking about. Do you mean the Flo clip? btw, on a more serious note, I would NOT contact the person you hit at all as it can be misconstrued and taken out of context every easily. Let the insurance companies deal with it first until it's settled.
I also hear that TOyota is sending out the following to it's owners;

The guy at the insurance Co is the one who said he thought it was a good idea.
I agree with you, Torp, but, in this case, we got along good at the accident scene, and I am positive my Ins Co will take good care of her.
Don't worry, if she is at all put off by it, it will be an immediate hang-up.

I'm catching up on posts and just caught this one Walt. I'm glad you're ok.
I'm with Torp though. Let the girl be and don't let her get second thoughts (about sueing you).

And I am really surprised at your agent supporting that notion.

Sometimes being nice can bite you in the ass but go with your instincts my friend. That's you Walt, always the kind soul and gentleman.
