Members Birthdays
I know we don't celebrate it here, though it really should be an international holiday, but today is my 61st birthday. I celebrated by spending Tuesday evening through this morning at a state park campsite with about 40 friends playing board games, one-shot RPG scenarios, and talking around a campfire all week. There were a couple problems, but it was an awesome week. For many of the folks, this is the only time I'll get to see them all year.

That looks amazing Davest! That is exactly what I would like to do for my birthday! I'm so happy for you!

And Rokker - take note...
Happy birthday Davest I used to do model/miniature painting and RPGs too but… things got in the way. I do sometimes really want to get back to it. I used to camp too and it really looks beautiful there. Have a awesome day

Am I right in understanding that Charlee Chase just had a birthday too? I can’t believe I missed saying happy birthday to her and anyone else that I may have missed.

I remembered that our birthdays were close, but I forgot we're the same age (you're two days older than I am).
As my favorite tee shirt says, "It's so weird being the same age as old people."

Thank you! We rent the same campsite every year. It can accommodate up to 80 people, I think, or maybe 120. It's very economical ($600 for an entire week, so $20 each if we get 30 or more people), the vast majority of our costs are food prep, but it works out to about $125 each for 4-5 days and we get to hang out 24/7.stickyvicky wrote: ↑April 30th, 2023, 9:16 pm That looks amazing Davest! There are also a couple times each year when some of us do what we call a house convention or house con. We rent a large house for the week and stuff as many of us as we can fit, usually 12 to 20. You could definitely find a nice house with a hot tub and pool for a VNA birthday week celebration. I'd be first in line to sign up. Or if you decide to go to Exxxotica, a bunch of us could rent a penthouse instead of regular hotel rooms. We found out at other cons that since the penthouse suite can hold more people, the cost works out about the same on a per person basis.

Reminds me of a joke: Patron at a boat show asks a salesman how people the boat can accommodate for sleeping. Salesman's response: "Two strangers. Or 6 people who know each other extremely well..."

Good one, Lance!
There are two sets of cabins, and we only ever use one set. So I think the part we use can accommodate 80 and the other set of cabins can up the total to 120. Or maybe it's 60 and 60, I honestly don't remember.

Well, today is an overload. We've got Zany, Greggl and Dave45. Zany and Greggl are, of course, current members and Dave45 a previous member. Dave died a couple years ago, possibly from emphysema. I know that he went on oxygen, but wouldn't stop smoking. He had to quit working and was pretty much a homeboy after that.
So, thankfully, Zany and Greggl are with us on full form.
Happy birthday, you two. Sure hope you both have really nice days, nice weather, family and friends, Cake and whatever other weight-inducing frozen liquid you might like,
