Is it really ten pounds to see a movie in the UK now?
I went to see Avatar yesterday and it cost me £7 something for a ticket but that included a £1.50 charge for using my debit card as I booked it online the day before.

Did someone say they had to pay for the glasses? Where I went they gave you the glasses on your way in and you were asked to place them in a box on your way out but nobody was checking so you could easily walk out with them but I guess if everyone did that they would start charging you for them.

As for the film I thought it was visually stunning but the story was just like many other movies and was kind of predicatable.

They still asked us to return them in the big bin on the way out, but we still had to pay $3 extra just because it was 3D. My thoughts exactly on the movie Mike! I'd see go see part 2 and part 3 though! :D

I guess we're lucky over here then that we're not being charged extra for it, I'd probably go see a sequal too.

Personally, I'm looking forward to it. There are a few films out there I wanted to see, but "Avatar" can wait. It'll be out for a while, so I caught "2012" yesterday. I wanted to see it on the big screen before it left, and I'm REALLY glad I did, although I had to go to Simi Valley to find it! Crazy great VFX, especially the L.A. buildings coming down, L.A. tipping into the ocean, and the tsunami approaching Washington, DC. Thought I was gonna wet myself! I mean, it was just popcorn entertainment, but sometimes that's all you need, right?? "Avatar" will be this weekend. Can you believe that not only "Titanic" grossed more money that any film on the planet, but "Avatar" passed it today? And they're by the SAME director? What are the odds??? Almost $4 BILLION in ticket sales between 2 movies...CRAZY! Just can't say that word with enough inflection....BILLION! Wow.

It could have been the greed of the industrialized capitalists destroying the amazon jungle forests or the early Americans kicking the Indians out of their home territories.
VNA,
So is it just us "Dim Blonds here" or is there a HUGE amount of hypocrisy (double standards!!!) going on here? :wtf:

Propaganda message is: "3-D GREEN people," if one pays $3 extra to Cameron & Co. elites smarter than us all and are "Good" fighting capitalists destroying the amazon jungle forests? :wtf: :wtf: :wtf:

OH, they are so at a "Higher brain Level elites!" OK for Cameron and all to earn million$ off us sheep of the world? His jetting about the earth in one year burns more fuel than most of us do in a lifetime!!!

Think about this???

Clearly, there is to much deforestation of the rain forests around the equator. The truth is most is now cut by local gangs and NOT huge capitalists destroying the jungle forests!

After a while, it does get pretty boring, even in regular movies. I mean, "Terminator 7 - The Machines Get Even?" "Rambo 12 - The Fight for Social Security?" Then, after the first two or three, they change the actors, so all it is is a different movie with the same name. For example, I like Married With Children, but have no interest in watching the parody. About the only one I'm interested in is Alice with our dear Sunny.

As far as porn is concerned, I agree. A cute idea, but are they now going to parody half the movies/TV shows from the last 10 years? I would bet, tho, that there will always be folks who will buy them. I'm guessing the previous ones must be at least somewhat popular or they wouldn't make another one.
I can resist everything except temptation.

Got to see 'Avatar' yesterday, on the coach for my trip to the Colchester .v. Oldham football match, only on a small tv screen but thought it was an awesome film. And didn't have to pay for it - bargain!

I like Sci-Fi, but Avatar is one boring movie! I'm glad it didn't win the Oscar for best picture.
If you want good James Cameron movies, watch Aliens, Terminator I and II, Abyss and True Lies.
He wrote the script for Rambo III, and even that one is better than the aweful Avatar.

I'm surprised Viggo? You didn't find it the least bit entertaining?

The 3D on a big screen is simply awesome for animation.

The plot was a bit like "dances with wolves" in many sections.

Speakinig of the Oscars - the Best Picture for the Hurt Locker was not well deserved either but the academy would be hard pressed to vote for something with that much animation as it's theme.

It was a very entertaining movie or maybe my avatar gave me away :D

It was definitely better than the aweful "The New Devil In Miss Jones", but no i can't really say that i found it very entertaining.
It looked great and each frame of the movie was filled with great beautiful images, and i love movies and fx and sci.fi, but...
I just can't put my finger on one specific thing in the movie and say that that is why it wasn't very good.
Maybe it was the story and the movie as a whole, i don't know.

I actually have NOT had the chance to see it yet. I have this friend that made me promise I wouldn't see it without her, but our schedules don't seem to be working out. So, I'm gonna have to just tell her if she doesn't get it together by next Thursday, I'm going myself. I am NOT gonna miss this on the big screen!!
