He was kite-boarding, and fell off..... experts say it was because of the murky water and lots of waves stirring things up. Once one shark bit him, the blood attracted several more. A lifeguard, actually rescued him (what a brave soul!) but it was too late. He died at the hospital. They still say its rare, and the water is safe but a couple of times a year you hear about this happening! Yikes! Makes us afraid to go in the water!

Life is full of danger. It's really hard when someone dies just trying to have fun.

well if you watch documentary on sharks and stuff they don't usually attack unless provoked!

...and I haven't heard of too many that will jump into the boat. heehee. Altho, I know if I saw a boat load of beauty like Vicky and Ember, I'd damn sure want to jump on board and eat something! :walt: :lmao: :lmao:

If you go out in a boat, be sure there are life preservers for everyone on board, or don't go. (Not a request, a directive.)

Well I was planning on swimming! You don't have to provoke them, if they mistake you for food! They say sharks are very myopic (poor distance vision). They mistake surfers and swimmers for seals that they eat.

Sharks are common in the tropical waters here down under, the lifeguards and beach patrollers have a good alert system that tells beachgoers of any sharks in the vicinity and the beaches get closed for swimming and surfing.

On the bright side, Vicky Vette didn't fall victim to that shark attack

We used to go to the beach all the time when living in Vero Beach. I was terrified of sharks. I wouldn't go out past my waist. I saw Jaws as a kid and that was it.
My wife would laugh at me until a German tourist had a big chunk of her leg but off at the exact same beach spot we would go too.

I used to say I'd rather tangle with a gator. I watched Tarzan movies, it's possible to fight one but not a shark 😂
...and she said " Let's go for it, the rooms already paid for!"

Funny how those are bigger things in the British tabloids than they are here? Each time I tell relatives in Norway about something that happened in Florida, they already know!
