I have to imagine that everyone can sing the intro to "Gilligan's Island." Who remembers "Andy Griffith?" "Hawaii 5-0" was distinctive. Wanna reach waaaayyy back? The WIlliam Tell Overture Finale? The Lone Ranger theme? How about "The Twi;ight Zone?" "Star Trek?"

Good one!

Also, the original Battlestar Galactica (1970's), The A-Team, and Airwolf.

And, although not TV shows, the orchestral majesty of the original Star Wars theme and The Imperial March are pretty recognizable: I was amazed at the number of different remixes of The Imperial March that were available when I did a YouTube search.

phpBB [media]

The only clip I could find of the original Imperial March at full speed was at the beginning of this remix, which turns to synthetic garbage at the 30 second mark.

Epic Heroic Remix of The Imperial March (slower pace)

Funny "It's a Trap" remix of The Imperial March

The Four Peters perform The Imperial March:

And I loved the oiriginal Star Wars Gansta Rap, and the Special Edition with improved graphics and a cameo at the end by Metal Bikini Leia:

The first sequel started strong but kinda fell apart pretty quickly:

The second sequel (Gangsta Rap 3) is just o.k., but some of the imagery is great.

Always liked the William Tell Overture but as with most people now a days I knew it as the theme to the Lone Ranger and not that it was actually written in 1829 for an opera. Here is a bit of a different take on it and why Glen Campbell is considered one of the greatest guitarists..

Yeah, I've seen Glen's clip before. He was good.

There was a cartoon once, a mom obviously trying to educate her son. The WIlliam Tell Overture comes on and she is saying that this is a quiet and introspective composition, written my a man named Rossini, something like that. Just about then dad walks by in his undershirt, suspenders hanging down, belly hanging out and a beer in his hand, yelling, "Hi-Yo, Silver, AWAYYYYYYYYY!"

The intro part just before the "charge" (whatever they call it, lol,) was used in a couple of Warners Bros cartoons back in the '60's.

We played it in high school. Slower than accomplished orchestras, but we still did a good job of it. That's how/where I learned to "triple-tongue." Interested in knowing more about that, girls???? :rotffl:

Well, here's another version. I've said before that The Rolling Stones are by far my favorite band. The Rolling Stones. 1965 - 2023. Fifty eight years of the best Rock and Roll out there. So here's another version of "Paint it Black" that I really like. It's even more moving now, as I like to watch Charlie Watts. In case you didn't know, Charlie died in August of 2021 and will always be missed. The original Stones are down to two now, Mick and Keith.

BIll Wyman was the original bass player. He left in 1993.

Brian Jones was their original rhythm guitarist. Brian died in July of '69. He didn't get along with the band's manager. I don't know if it was that, or just the general attitude of the day or whatever, but he turned to drugs. He got so deep that the band let him go in June of '69, and he died in July, drowned in his own pool. So the supposition is that he was stoned, jumped or fell into the pool, amd couldn't get out due to his befuddled state.

And now, Charlie. When you get to this age, you start getting scared. You don't know where the end is, but you start realizing what it means. 80 years old and in pretty decent health is, to me, VERY lucky. If I can still do a cross-country road trip at 80, I think I'm doing pretty damn good. The problem is that you see these folks you have known for years leaving before you. They always bring back such warm and happy memories. I've mentioned, for example, that I first saw the Stones in 1966 in Detroit at Olympia Stadium. Fifty-seven friggin years ago. A certain dear friend of mine was one year old, lol. Then, I was in Spain when Elvis died in 1977.

At the site we were working at, we took our morning break over at the Spanish coffee-bar. (It was a Spanish Army installation.) There was a newspaper on the counter. I turned it over and saw a picture of Elvis and the large headline "Ha muerto Elvis Presley." I knew what it said, but that is such a momentous event, that you just have a hard time believing what you're seeing. So I asked the server, "Does this mean what I think it means?" He replied, "Elvis Presley has died." I just stood there. Almost cried. I said to him, "Es de verdad?" (is it true?) He replied, "Lo dice aqui." (It says so here.) I really loved Elvis. He was pretty close to my introduction to music and Rock and Roll. As a kind of rebellious figure, parents hated him and kids loved him. His music just chills me, and I pretty much have to get up and dance once I hear some of that fantastic Rock and Roll.

So I read the article. I'm not fluent in Spanish. I can carry on a fairly decent general conversation, but couldn't, for example, talk about business in Spanish. So, anyway, I could read and understand enough to know that he died on his bathroom floor, that his GF called in help. An ambulance took him to the hospital, but he was long gone by then. I still have the paper, buried somewhere in my stuff. I should go look it up. Wonder if it's worth anything, lol.

I like Chubby Checker. Remember the Twist? First time I heard a DJ intro the song, when he said "Here's a new one by Chubby Checker." Well, I also like Fats Domino, and I didn't think it was funny for the DJ to be making fun of his name. But then he started the song. "Wow! That ain't no Fats Domino!" lol

I've seen numerous videos of Chubby doing The Hucklebuck at clubs and shows. He always invites a pretty girl up on stage to sing and do "The Hucklebuck" with him. After a short bit of fun, he would grab her and pull her close, crushing her chest against his. I quickly realized that he was just another dirty old man, lol

So I ran across this clip.I watched it to see which girls he picked this time. I was surprised as hell. Why? He grabbed a couple of oldies. I thought "Oh, crap! Someone must have lodged a complaint or something, because it looks like he's sworn off of the pretty ones," lol.

But, then I was surprised. Man, these old ladies can DANCE! They were GREAT! Move the pointer ahead to 3:30 to start the song. The sound quality isn't there, but I"m guessing this is a cell phone clip. If you want to skip ahead, he brings the ladies up one at a time, starting at 8:10.

But, you'll notice that he grabs these two from behind. No squeezing them against his chest. Don't know why he changed. Maybe it's an old folks home, :lmao:

OK, I just HAD to post this one. This one is only about the person who is in it. (No, not Guess Who, lol.) It looks like I'm going to be teaching a pretty little thing how to dance to good old Rock and Roll. So I was looking for '50's dance clips. Not choreographed movie stuff - I am looking for things like American Bandstand, where it was just kids dancing the way they danced.

So I ran across this one. It's not what I'm looking for, but there's someone in it. First song is the Twist. Second in The Watusi. At 0:55, a fellow walks in front of the camera, his back to it. Light colored suit. I immediately recognized him, which made me feel good, because he's near the top of my favorites. See if you can spot him, see if you can identify him before he turns around (use your pause button.) Then check out the brunette dancing to his left. I'd swear that is Natalie Wood.

Good luck. Winner gets a kiss from me.

No, you horny bastards. Girls ONLY!!!  Guys get a handshake and a 'thanks for playing', LOL.
To me there's nothing beyond the part I'm talking about to listen to. . I post it only for the person dancing..

Those two are funny. They've both been on "The Big Bang Theory" at different times. Kate Micucci was even asked once if she knew what her name meant. Her reply was, "Yes, I know what my name means," lol.

I might even like to try on "an unshucked ear of corn," :rotffl:

I remember Kate's first appearance on Big Bang Theory. I was bummed that it didn't work out for Raj. I don't know what happened to that particular story arc. I also saw an interview on Conan where she says she knows what her name sounds like. I suppose she should be glad her name isn't "Pat".

Even though she's gorgeous, I don't remember noticing Rikki Lindhome on The Big Bang Theory.

Rikki played a young woman who got infatuated with Sheldon on 3 or 4 episodes.

Poor ole Raj has had tons of trouble trying to get a GF. Remember the episode where his new GF left him alone in her apartment while she went somewhere? I forget why, but he went into the bedroom and opened her nightstand drawer. The whole front panel came off and he couldn't fix it. So, she was upset. But, instead of throwing him out, she got even. As they went to bed, she asked him, "You didn't look in the closet, did you?" He replied, "No, what's in there?"

She said, "Oh, don't worry about it. You'll be fine." Then she turned over with a big smile on her face, while he laid there with fear in his eyes, lol.
