Well, since we don't have a specific (Music) forum to bring these all together, we've ended up with about 4 topics spread all over the forum. We need to come up with some sort of index idea for Vicky to incorporate so we can more easily find stuff. Sounds like a big job, tho, and we all know Vicky has way too much time on her hands. :excited: :hula: :scared: :rotffl:

O.K. i'm an old fart ,but for me music died in the late 50's early 60's and was generally replaced by 3 boys strumming guitars and a fourth banging on drums
Music including melody and orchestration simply vanished, along with lyrics.
I am aware that the music experts will highlight the exceptional cases where this is not so but for me the general trend has been noise beats music, a couple of chords and a public image means success.

You know I agree, vectis. Good music died in the 80's (some will say when Disco came out, sorry, Rap/HipHop lovers,) or shortly after that. For me? Mid 50's - mid 60's will always be the best of music. We sang about fun, about joy, about just having a damn good time. I can't hear a good 50's rock song without wanting to get up and boogie.

:goodpost:

It depends. Laura and Sue, you can take it one step further to the other deep end of the spectrum, Carrie Underwood's song:

But before we get to Randy's or Carrie's scenario, let's try Alan Jackson's situation. It may save some heartbreak and definitely lawyer's fees in a messy breakup or divorce.

Think about it.

John, is that Eric or George? Looks a lot like George to me.

And, Alan Jackson?

Walt - you, non-believer, you.

It's Eric -- about early 1969. Right after Dirty Mac on The Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus (John Lennon, Keith Richards, Eric, and Mitch Mitchell) but before Blind Faith (Steve Winwood, Eric, Ginger Baker, and Ric Grech) :D
