This is nice., Have you ever heard "Paint it Black" played on a harp?

phpBB [media]

.
I like the Surfrajettes, too. Man, that Surf Music sound really brings back more memories. Mid '60's, Beach Boys, Jan and Dean and others quickly followed. The title of this on FB says "Paint it Black." But the song is actually Pipeline, by the Chantays.

And here are the Surfrajettes.

I've seen those girls live. They were at the Perth kilt run a few years ago. They played quite a bit of AC/DC on their harps and they were good!

Hey, onegreengoat, good to see you posting. I've just recently been listening to this song again recently. Great music. I got reminded of it when I ran across this short (I HATE these damn shorts., lol.) Melanie Celine does some great work. Look her up.

You can use the "newmedia: link on the Full Editor page and your YouTube post will show up like this:

WOW! Just WOW!

I have been following The Rolling Stones from the start. I saw them during their very first American tour in 1966 at Olympic Stadium (gone now) in Detroit, Michigan. They recently released their first album in 18 years. If this song is any example, this is gonna be another great album (Another Brick in the Wall? lol.) I think the video was done pretty fantastic, too. And, Having Vicky on the back seat of the car was sheer genius. (Yes, I know it's not Vicky. But if it had been? Can you imagine this video going through the roof?) Respect and happy memories to Charlie Watts, as well. I also miss Bill Wyman, who was their original bassist. He's still with us, he just left the group years ago to spend more time with his family.

I'm sorry. These guys are truly the top. Ladies and Gentlemen, I present to you

In the early days, I much preferred the Beatles to the Rolling Stones. But over the years, the Stones have definitely grown on me. Can't wait to hear the new album.

I hadn't heard that one. When I saw the South Park banner, I was expecting this one:

I hadn't heard this one before, either. It's nice! And the thumbnail reminds me of Sunny Lane.

WalterB wrote: September 7th, 2023, 12:38 pm We all have whatever music we like. I grew up with '50's, then '60's, then '70's rock. Seventies rock developed into groups like Pink Floyd. Then people liked some of the music so much they started playing it.

I am kind of a purist. That means, that, while I can handle the occasional personal touch to a favorite song, I pretty much want to hear the songs like as I learned them all those years ago.

Comes Melanie. Melaine seems to be a purist. She does this song exactly like the original. See if you agree. This was another of those cool "stoner" songs. You loved to get a load on, put on this record, light the candles, turn down the lights, then lie back in your pillow chair with your honey and just let the pleasure wash over you.

David Gilmour would be proud.

Remember when comedy/novelty songs were big? Mostly from the 70's . Other than Weird Al this genre seems to have died out. Heard several while driving lately and thought I would share a couple here

First up Ray Stevens with The Streak

Next Larry Groce with Junk Food Junkie.

Yeah, there were a number of those. I think they go back to the '50's, maybe even earlier. This is the type I was thinking of. A silly story punctuated with short music clips from songs of the day. You'll probably have to be a hundred to recognize any of the songs, lol. There were several of these in the late '50's - early '60's.

Yep! I remember Dickie Goodman, too. Total silliness.

Ever heard of "Chickenman?" This was a radio show from back in the '70's. I first heard Chickenman on the Armen Forces Radio Network (AFRN) out in remote Alaska. I thought it was absolutely hilarious. If you like these clips, YouTube has a bunch. If your sense of humor is as warped as mine, you might like them, too.
.
Here is the first episode. "Baak-baak-baak-baaaaaak CHICKENMAAAAANNNNN! He's everywhere, he's everywhere!"

.
And the third, How Benton Harbor settled on the visage of a chicken for his Crime-Fighting disguise.
I swear, I laugh at this stuff every time I listen to it.

This is one I wanted to post along with The Surfrajettes above. This one is by The Chantays as well. This is a true representation of the "Surf Music" of the day. It's called "Move It."

Remember when instrumentals would regularly show up in the top 40? There were some great music that was just instrumentals. Even instrumental TV theme songs would make it up the charts such as the themes from The Rockford Files ( really liked James Garner), Hill Street Blues, SWAT, and Miami Vice (which made it to number 1). Then about early to mid 80's it just seemed to stop.

Hawaii 5-0. And movies - Pink Panther, The Good The Bad and the Ugly, The Sting.

I like instrumental music. I have a playlist of just instrumental music.

Question: Should Isaac Hayes' Theme from Shaft be categorized as instrumental or not? Its in my instrumental playlist, but there is a fair bit of chatter in it. I'd like to hear what others think.

I don't know if there's a definition for how much vocal can be on the music. But, if I were voting, I'd say it's instrumental. Not a lot of words and singing, but, to me, enough to disqualify it.

I liked a lot of those old themes mentioned here nd even a few more.

Name some more please. I can expand my instrumental play list.
