Onions on hamburger send Oregon man into ‘McFury’

The unexpected inclusion of onions on a hamburger sent one Oregon man into what police called a McFury, which could not be alleviated even after he was offered a free replacement burger.

The Oregonian reports that Jayme John Leon, 50, reportedly threw a soda in a McDonald's manager's face and smashed a cash register over the dispute.

Leon walked into a local McDonald's on September 23 and ordered a quarter pounder burger without onions. But when he returned home, Leon discovered the burger was in fact topped with onions.

When he called the restaurant to complain, Leon was told he was entitled not only to a refund but also to a free replacement burger.

Leon reportedly ate the offending burger anyway but still showed up at the McDonald's demanding a refund and fresh burger.

"Since he ate the quarter pounder, McDonald's would not refund his money, sending Mr. Leon into a McFury," Sgt. Claudio Grandjean, Gresham Police spokesman, told the paper.

After tossing the drink and breaking the register, Leon then left the restaurant and headed back home.

He was intercepted by police and has been charged with first-degree criminal mischief, second-degree disorderly conduct, and harassment.

Caution: Graphic :1106: ahead.

Just watched some idiot blow his brains out on live TV. Cool! No need to waste money locking him up.

Was surfing and ran across the Fox news channel, where they were following a car speeding down a dirt road. Turns out it was live, they were following a car-jacker outside Tonopah, Nevada, video from a following police chopper. The guy went down several roads, and finally turned off into a field. He stopped, got out and took off running. He fell once, went a bit further and I saw what looked like a gun. He stopped, turned his back to the chopper, put the gun to his head, then fell forward. At that point, they killed the feed. The announcer was yelling, "Cut it! Cut it! Cut it!" But it was too late.

They went to commercial. When they came back, the announcer was all somber and apologetic. He explained that there was a 5 second delay so they could cut it in case something weird happened. But apparently someone forgot to cut the feed. So, we got to see it. It wasn't graphic or anything, no blood and guts. Remember, it was from a helicopter some distance away. They don't get too close in case the guy starts shooting at them.

Anyway, the announcer was all apologetic, but all I could think was "Why? There's worse crap than that on national TV every freaking night." Some of these programs relish showing a guy getting shot, with blood and guts splattering everywhere. I'm only sorry I didn't start my recorder. Hell, I'd post it on YouTube. I got no sympathy with criminals. They get what they ask for. And this guy decided to take the cowards way out. Sorry if that bothers you, but that's my opinion. We mollycoddle criminals of serious crime much too much. Don't violate his rights? He has the right to not commit the crime, and I have the right to be free from fear that some ignorant son-of-a-bitch is going to come up to my car, put a gun to my head, and either get me out or shoot me dead.

:1106:

Sorry, off of soap box. But that's my opinion.

That commercial, was it something for headache's.
Punishing criminals, there's a world of difference between europe and the USA. Glad i don't see too much guncrimes overhere. Although the criminal underworld, mostly drugrelated, in Dublin seem to have no mercy or respect for lives. Just a few days ago a man was shoot while his kid was in the same room.
Lot's of movies these days are more graphic than the news will ever be. At least with movies you have a choice to watch it.

Here's the news story and the video. Of course, in this "sanitized" version, they cut off the good part at the end.

.
Man fatally shoots self on TV after Ariz. chase
By BOB CHRISTIE and DAVID BAUDER | Associated Press – 12 hrs ago.

PHOENIX (AP) — A man fatally shot himself in the head Friday on live national television at the end of a high-speed carjacking chase that began in Phoenix and ended about 90 minutes later within 80 miles of the California border.

Fox News was covering the chase that began about midday using a live helicopter shot from Phoenix affiliate KSAZ-TV. The man driving a copper-colored four-door sedan stopped, ran into the desert and placed a handgun to his head and fired.

The man was declared dead at the scene and hasn't yet been identified, according to Sgt. Tommy Thompson, a Phoenix police spokesman.

Fox News anchor Shepard Smith told viewers that the video was supposed to be on a 10-second delay so it could be cut off from airing if something went awry. (Walt - The announcer very clearly said "five second delay.")

"We really messed up, and we're all very sorry," Smith said.

Fox apologized for showing the violence on air.

"We took every precaution to avoid any such live incident by putting the helicopter pictures on a five second delay," said Michael Clemente, executive vice president of news editorial. "Unfortunately, this mistake was the result of a severe human error and we apologize for what viewers ultimately saw on the screen."

More frequently than its rivals, Fox News Channel picks up car chases from its local affiliates and airs them live. It's gripping television, a live mystery with no clear resolution, and often provides a short-term ratings boost as viewers tune in to see how it ends. Critics say the chases themselves rarely rise to the level of national news. The Phoenix station was not airing the chase live when it ended.

Thompson said the man allegedly stole a car from a couple at gunpoint outside a Phoenix restaurant just before 11 a.m. MST.

Police officers located the vehicle and began a pursuit and the man fired several shots, Thompson said. He said the shots hit the police vehicle and the officers escaped injury.

The suspect headed west on Interstate 10, then pulled onto a dirt road that Thompson said was "70 to 80 miles east of the California line."

"He got out of the car and shot himself," Thompson said. "Efforts to revive him were not successful and he was dead at the scene. We don't have an ID yet."

Fox returned repeatedly to shots showing the car passing big-rig trucks that typically travel at about 70 mph as if they were standing still.

Police cars did not appear to be immediately behind the car during most of the chase.

Shepard Smith was narrating the video and clearly had his doubts about what was being shown from the moment the man stopped the car. "This scares me," he said.

"You wait for the end of these things and you worry about how they may end up," he said. "This makes me a little nervous, I got to tell you. A little nervous."

The video showed the man running erratically in a field before putting the gun to his head and firing. He fell to the ground.

Fox's picture quickly cut to Smith, who was shouting "get off, get off, get off, get off."

After the commercial break, Smith apologized repeatedly.

"That didn't belong on TV. We took every precaution we knew how to take to keep that from being on TV and I personally apologize to you that that happened," he said.

Men, we love our women dearly, don't we? However, therein lies a hidden danger. You will only be successful with your woman if you understand the words that are coming out of her mouth. To that end, I provide the following language tutoral in "Woman."

(1) Fine: (Spoken forcefully, as in, "Fine!") This is the word women use to end an argument when they are right and you need to shut up.

(2) Five Minutes: If she is getting dressed, this means a half an hour. Five minutes is only five minutes if you have just been given five more minutes to watch the game before helping around the house.

(3) Nothing: (As in, "What's the matter, dear?") This is the calm before the storm. This means something, and you should be on your toes. Arguments that begin with "nothing" usually end in "fine."

(4) Go Ahead: This is a dare, not permission. Don't do it!

(5) Loud Sigh: This is actually a word, but is a non-verbal statement often misunderstood by men. A loud sigh means she thinks you are an idiot and wonders why she is wasting her time standing here and arguing with you about "nothing." (Refer back to # 3 for the meaning of nothing.)

(6) That's Okay: This is one of the most dangerous statements a women can make to a man. "That's okay," means she wants to think long and hard before deciding how and when you will pay for your mistake.

(7) Thanks: A woman is thanking you, do not question, or faint. Just say "You're welcome." (I want to add in a clause here - This is true, unless she says 'Thanks a lot' - that is PURE sarcasm and she is not thanking you at all. DO NOT say "You're welcome." That will bring on a 'whatever').

(8) Whatever : Is a woman's way of saying..."Go to Hell, you idiot."

(9) Don't worry about it, I'll do it: Another dangerous statement, meaning this is something that a woman has told a man to do several times, but is now doing it herself. This will later result in a man asking 'What's wrong?' For the woman's response refer to # 3.

Good luck, guys. If yu want to keep your woman happy, learn her language and you won't have to sleep out in the doghouse with Rokkerr. :lmao:

Even smart people can be dumb. I'm not professing innocence, but there's a reason they call it "dope."

NEW ORLEANS (Reuters) - A New Orleans city attorney was arrested for possession of marijuana and suspended from his job after a :weed: joint tumbled from his pocket in front of police in court.

Jason Cantrell, 43, assistant city attorney, was issued a summons for simple possession of marijuana on Monday afternoon after a marijuana cigarette fell to the floor in Orleans Parish magistrate court, New Orleans Police spokesman Frank Robertson said.

"Jason Cantrell is suspended without pay pending further investigation," Ryan Berni, a spokesman for New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu, said on Wednesday. "He was not acting in his capacity as assistant city attorney when the incident occurred."

Cantrell's wife, a candidate for New Orleans City Council, said on her Facebook page that she was "angry, embarrassed and disappointed," with her husband's actions.

"I absolutely do not condone his actions," LaToya Cantrell wrote. "He will accept the legal consequences as the judicial process takes its course."

She said Jason Cantrell had submitted his resignation, but Berni said no resignation letter had been received.

Cantrell has practiced law in Louisiana for more than 16 years, according to Louisiana State Bar Association. He ran unsuccessfully for juvenile court judge in 2009. He has been with the city since 2009.

Jason Cantrell could not be reached for comment on Wednesday.
(he was at home, :icon_stoned: ) LaToya Cantrell said she will remain in the race for city council.

Hard to believe that his wife didn't know that he smoked, tho. :icon_redface:

Keep an eye on this link. This is the link to the coverage of the free-fall flight of Felix Baumgartner. He is attempting to be the first human to break the sound barrier without a vehicle. He will ascend to 120,000 feet (~22.7 miles) in a pressurized suit in a pressurized capsule, then jump and rocket toward the earth in free-fall in an attempt to reach 700mph. He would then somehow slow, deploy a chute and land in the New Mexico desert. They are hoping to collect a massive amount of data to aid in future space exploration.

They "may" try again tomorrow, but the forecast seems to be for winds, and they cannot launch if there any winds. Hell, I may need to drive up there and try to get some personal video. But, this link is giving excellent coverage.

Well, it basically stands for "love/like". And the more 3's you add, the more you love/like it. That's what I've been told when I was 15, lol. Image

:reading: Skeleton of French man found in bed after 15 years

LILLE, France (Reuters) - Police in France said on Friday they were trying to identify the skeleton of a man believed to have lain undiscovered in bed for more than 15 years.

The body, found in an abandoned house in the northern city of Lille, is thought to be that of the elderly owner of the property, who lived alone and appeared to have no relatives.

Police said they had found piles of unopened mail at the house dating back to 1996.

Vicky, if you haven't heard from me in, oh, I don't know, 3 or 4 years, you think you might just give the El Paso police dept a jingle? You know, maybe just ask them if any noxious odors have been reported around the Northeast part of town? :lmao:  :noway!

"The victim was identified only as Jane Doe in court." But we plastered her picture all over the news. That way, people who know her will say, "Gee, I thought her name was Donna Rogers." And all her co-workers won't know that it's the girl at that desk over by the window. And the perverts will all say, "Hey, that girl on the third floor that we see in the break room? Her name is Jane, and she swallows." :lmao:
