Everyone should, it's gonna destroy twitter. It's just a lie. For example if a club wants to hire you and you have 100K followers, they'll be happy cause you can tweet and reach a lot of people and be a "draw". If you have 200K even better. People may ask you to endorse their products. But if you have 150K followers, but only 10K of them are real, that is the maximum amount of people you can reach. So if the club hires you or even pays you more to feature dance because they think you have 150K or 200K followers you are basically ripping them off.

Nope don't tweet or retweet, 0 interaction. They are only there to artificially bump up the numbers. Twitter eventually finds them and closes them down, but they never find all of them.

For every person who does something good, there is at least one who will do his best to ridicule/debase/ruin that idea.

Not sure why this sticks in my head, but I remember "Baby on Board" signs. Remember them? Small rectangular signs that you hung in your car window. Did they ever make anyone more cautious around a car sporting the sign? Probably not. But I still thought it was a "cute" idea. Well, it didn't take long for the "funsters" to get on board. Next thing you know, there were "copy" signs all over - things like "Monkey on Board" or other such silliness. I remember thinking then - how sad that someone tries to do a good thing and theres always some nitwit who thinks it's cool to belittle it.

If I knew more about Nina Mercedez, I had thought about posting something to her page about the stupidity of buying followers, or how pathetic it made her look that she had to "buy" followers. But I don't know her or even who she is, so, I'll just leave her alone. Besides, I'm betting she's not the only one. Kinda makes a mockery of the system, doesn't it?

I do remember all of the "Baby on Board Signs" - they were big in the late 80's - right around the time I started to drive....

The messed up thing about Twitter, it that most people now (and this goes for Facebook too) are using their mobile phones to access their accounts. So it makes it very easy to interact and follow people - just not a large number of people clicking over and buying services $$......

I wonder what the ratio is for true followers vs. bots, spam, fake accounts etc. It seems that most of my followers are just accounts set up by spammers. I bet out of 1600 or so followers - I'd be lucky if 400 were real human beings....

This snippet from that article sums it up for me.

Followers only add value if they 1) are human, 2) have chosen to follow you, and 3) are interested in what you have to say and sharing it with their peers.

Followers/likes/views/pluses that are purchased through scams like those mentioned here have absolutely no interest in who you are or what you do.

They will never visit your website, they won’t buy your products, they won’t share anything with friends, and they won’t read your content.
