We just had to fix the ball joints on our van (not fun when your balls don't work) and replace two tires, today. Nice $1600 repair bill. Our van is 12 years old now, lol... has 180,000 miles on it, but we still love it!

I'm basically happy with mine, even tho it's quite old (1990 Plym Voyager, 3.0 L engine, 217,000 on it.) This problem is mainly my fault. The temp gauge was indicating hot, but there was water in the bottle and the engine felt cool. It stayed cool on the way home, but got warm again when I got off the freeway, and was near pegging by the time I got parked at home. By letting it get so hot, I blew a head gasket. Turns out the radiator is pretty clogged up and that was causing it to get hot. I have free towing, but we always think, "if I can just make it home...." It would have been a radiator flush, maybe $150 max. Now it's also a head job for around $1100.

I'm so intelligent! I just HATE having $1000 lying around gathering dust.
