How do you make the great gifs?

I always enjoy the gifs that get made for each scene and how they have that "jumpy" look to them almost. Who makes them and how do they do it? Is there special software involved?

I have a couple iPhone apps that allow me to make them out of pictures, video, etc.

I used this tutorial to learn how to make them (excuse the abuse filled throughout the tutorial haha)! And I use Photoshop CS3 if that's of any help.

They don't turn out as fast as I'd like them (if that makes sense) so I usually only end up using a few frames which is fine but I haven't been able to find a way to speed them up faster than the option that Photoshop gives.

That looks like a good start, Cellardoor. I bought some morphing software a while back, and was going to make some morphing pics for the forum. But the files were too big and I couldn't upload them.

The attachment limit is 10 megs, are they bigger than that?

I think they were. I'll have to go back and check it. I want to say closer to 20 meg.

It's quite easy to make gif's I just put some togther for ShandaFay, which i hope you be able to see once Shanda's new site is up.

I currently working on a Gif's for the February VNN covers. The biggest problem I had is the pc runs out of memory and Scratch file space while trying to process such a big file.
I'v reduced the file size and have now go this to work.

If any one need a hand let me know.

I use photoscape to make all my gifs. I open Sony Vegas which is what I use to edit my videos. I find a spot I want to make a gif of and save a picture. pull the video forward about 3 clicks and save the next then the next then the next. my average gif has at least 50 pics. many up to 100. Its a little time consuming but once you get the hang of it, you can do it while having a conversation and eating T the same time lol.

Then I open photoscape which is a free program. ... copy and paste the pics I just pulled and choose my size thrn hit save. simple as that! Hope that helps!
