Wine
Do we have any wine connoisseurs here? Or even anyone who just likes wine? I was wondering if you had any suggestions for me, I'm interested in trying something new. I will admit I tend to lean more towards the whites, because the reds pretty much hurt me. A lot.
Any suggestions?
Hehe, I love this emoticon.

Gosh Julia...
I do prefer whites over reds. There's a NC vineyard that makes a white wine called Scuppernong. It's one of my favorites because it's not too strong, but has a hint of sweetness. You can feel the roundness of the grape in your mouth as you drink this wine. This particular wine leaves your mouth moist with an awesome after taste. 1.5 glasses of this wine always gets me feeling like this lol!!!!!!. I'm really joking Julia. It is perfect, very relaxing, and is great for get togethers, romantic dinners and such.
That's as far as my wine experience goes Julia .

At my age, red wine is best for me. They say that one glass of wine a day will contribute to your longevity. Considering my history, I should be living to around 140.
I can resist everything except temptation.

Shoot, you're laughing. I'm thinking about doing this . Well, ahhhh, I'm sorta , too ....now Uncle Walt, find a red wine that you like & stock up. We need you to hang around for a long period of time! The VNA will NOT be the same w/out you!
Or shall I say... continue to drink your red wine Uncle Walt?

I like a glass of red wine, never really drank white by the way.
I remember once in italy where i was in a restaurant on a trip from work. We had to pay for beer but the Vino Rosso was free and the bottles were on the table. I remember waking up in my bed in the hotel but still haven't a clue how i got there. :-)

Lol, that sounds like the first time I drank Damm beer in Spain. 12% it was - nothing like what you get here in the colonies. The bar was serving it in those large schooners, at least a pint. At 12% I couldn't finish 2 of them before I was out like a light.

My first serious experience of wine came when I was in the Navy and my ship visited Naples,we found a bar serving red wine at 1000lira/ litre(about 75cents US),I found out about hurt from red wine the hard way.JuliaAnn wrote:Do we have any wine connoisseurs here? After a gap or 20years I did get back to drinking red wine and have a glass or two every day.
Here in England a top selling wine is Blossom Hill a Californian wine, red and white,it's an easy drinking wine and fairly cheap.
However a better wine, and currently popular is any Chilean product, if you can find some you might like to try it.
No beer, no wine, no alcoholic drinks for me, at all. It's ice tea and lemonade I mostly drink, but to all the wine lovers ...
Couple years ago I saw a movie called "Bottle Shock", with Alan Rickman. Pretty good, even made me thirsty. It's all about wine and the business. Maybe that could give you some guidance in what's good to try out and what not..?

Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.
I know nothing about wine. I'll take a Beer any time and when I feel like something stronger it's American Honey (Burbon with a touch of honey, goes down smooooooth)

well, i'm not attached to one wine in particular,i don't have it often except special occasions, but once in a while i like to try new things.
But i do have my favs
i like a good Chardonnay or Beaujolais Nouveau, of course the old standard we make here "Notre vin maison" goes down with anything.
i also like "nuit de la saint-jean" a french wine, but it has special meaning to us here.
all in all, i like trying different wines, but i find the reds go better with meats and whites go great with cheeses and deserts.
i also enjoy a beer now and then, Rickard's Red is my fav, but also Labbatt's Blue i like and whatever's on tap. again with steak, very nice.

Julia Ann, one of my wives and I will be wine tasting in Temecula in December for two days. You are welcome to come tasting with us, all expenses paid.
Ah, well you have great taste, Walt. That's a classic!WalterB wrote:Sorry, my experience kinda stops at Boones' Farm Strawberry Hill.

That sounds delicious, Kisha. And the way you described it was very sensual...you were still talking about wine, right? Lol, I can't wait to try it!

Here, here, Walt. May you live long and prosper!
That's awesome...so, did you wake up naked and find peanut butter in your hair? Or lipstick on your hoo-ha? Did you take pictures? If you did, post them!rua1972 wrote:I like a glass of red wine, never really drank white by the way.

Good to know, Vectis. I'll stay away from the red, though, just in case...or maybe I'll risk it and try a glass anyway. Thank you!vectis wrote:My first serious experience of wine came when I was in the Navy and my ship visited Naples,we found a bar serving red wine at 1000lira/ litre(about 75cents US),I found out about hurt from red wine the hard way.JuliaAnn wrote:Do we have any wine connoisseurs here? Ah yes, good idea Gert-Jan! Gina said she'd seen the movie (because her crush Eliza Dushku had a bit role in it), and I believe it's available on Netfilx on demand. I may get her to fire up her laptop so we can see it!Gert-Jan wrote:No beer, no wine, no alcoholic drinks for me, at all. It's ice tea and lemonade I mostly drink, but to all the wine lovers ...

PS: what about beer with honey? No? Not so much?
mmm, cheese and desserts. Maybe that's why I like whites better, lol. Not much of a meat eater these days (you know what I mean, you naughty perverts). I appreciate your input, h0rnytoad, your knowledge is golden!h0rnytoad1 wrote:well, i'm not attached to one wine in particular,i don't have it often except special occasions, but once in a while i like to try new things.
