I apologize in advance if this thread has been done before, but I was wondering what some of our members passions were.

Porn, obviously, but what else? Books, movies, theater, television, animals, Star Trek, Star Wars, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, charities, monster truck rallies, NASCAR, gardening, clubbing, cooking, knitting (hi Walt!), hiking, camping, writing, music, sports, watching sports, conspiracy theories, politics, religion, spirituality, coins, stamps, guns, wine, beer, exercise, etc etc.

The list can go on and on and on...

A lot of you know that my passions include rescuing animals, cooking, horseback riding, and scuba diving. But I also love watching movies (old movies and new, but I do have a soft spot for some of the old ones). I love throwing dinner parties (where the cooking comes in) for friends, and I love getting my head and feet rubbed. Not sure if those are actually passions, but I sure love getting them!

Anyway, you get the idea.

So...

What are your passions?

Well, I'm a traveler, so I've always loved traveling and camping. I love to camp out and many times still do when traveling cross country. Tent and sleeping bag kind of stuff. Not so much in the woods anymore, but still like to build my own fire and cook over it. I take pride in starting a fire with one match, no paper. But never started one rubbing sticks like you did. That was cool.

Rode motorcycles for many years, and miss it terribly, so that's a passion. My last two were Honda 1100 Shadows. When riding cross country, had my tent across the handle bars, and sleeping bag and backpack strapped to the rear seat. Loved to stop in the woods or a farmers field and roll my bag out, sleeping under the stars when I could, or in the tent. Wore a helmet around town, but loved to take it off on the open road. You ever get a chance, watch "Then Came Bronson." Or I'll send you an copy if you're interested.

Other than that, I'm a radio electronics tech by trade. Worked several great places, Spain, Alaska, Greenland, then in Aerospece in LA and Denver for 22 years. Right now I'm building a little trinket thing for my sis for her birthday, then am gonna start on an Oscilloscope kit. I love fixing electronic things, and have a stereo amp and a power supply to fix.

Still like building model things, cars and airplanes (plastic models.) Working on a B-24 right now. Spent too much time drinking and drugging and partying to settle down and get some real hobbies, but I guess what I do keeps me busy.

Nothing cool, like the things you listed, but those are pretty much what I like. Kind of a simple life, really.

Oh, and NASCAR. You mentioned NASCAR. Mark Martin is my man - the last of the old generation. Current fireballs? I guess, Dale Jr. (Loved Dale Sr,) Jeff Gordon and Tony Stewart are favorites. Love to see Danica Patrick making her mark, too. I love it when women step into things that were once traditionally male. Women are now flying jets, riding their own motorcycles (Hogs,) and driving Mack Trucks. So, when a female driver comes into NASCAR, I always wish her great luck.

Oh, and one more. Knitting sweaters for beautiful women. :lmao:

(Edit:) Adding one more - my music. Of course 50's Rock and Roll (Elvis, Chuck Berry, little Richard, Jerry Lee Lewis, etc.,) and DooWop, 60's various 'motif's' (cars, surfing, The British Invasion etc.,) and the classic rock of the 70's - Rolling Stones, Led Zepplin, Bob Seger (who started in the 60's,) Aerosmith, etc. etc. Many dances in the late 50's - The Stroll, The Mashed Potatoes, The Monkey, the Frug, The Boog-a-Loo, The Twist, The Fly, man, we knew how to live, lol. I still listen mostly to the 50's and early 60's music.

Huhmmmm. Pretty good topic Julia... Well I love to:

1. Play the piano (you can usually tell what kind of mood I'm in based on what I'm playing on the piano)
2. Love to listen to all kinds of music (I tend to express my thoughts/emotions through the lyrics of music)
3. Travel
4. Ride my motorcycles (Walt I have a 750 Honda Shadow...1100 is too many CCs for me hahaha! & a Yamaha FZ6), although I don't ride as much now, but that sure as heck doesn't keep me from cranking them up and keeping them clean...they're my babies. Riding my motorcycles was an opportunity to "clear my head" if you will and just be free! I also like to ride my 4-wheeler on the farm with the cows and help my dad pull in some new feed/hay for them (yes, we have a farm in the country lol!) BTW, Hondas are the best! Really, especially in terms of shifting gears...I can tell which gear (click, click, click, click, click,..you just know) I'm in while driving a Honda vs a Harley, Kawasaki, Yamaha, Suzuki...I've driven all of those branded bikes. I'm biased...Hondas Rock!!!! I'm just sayin'
5. I'm a very spiritual person, not necessarily tied to any particular denomination, although I grew up in a Baptist church
6. This should REALLY be #1, but I'm very much so a family oriented girl who is surrounded by my parents, sister/brother-in-law, & nephews pretty much on a daily basis (these people are the ones that pull my heartstrings the most) and if there's a special someone in my life
7. I love Madea movies because they make me laugh hysterically
8. "Real" reality TV shows are cool like Parking Wars & Billy the Exterminator, Dr. G
9. Let me tell you, OMG, I absolutely love for my back, arms, and shoulders to be rubbed as well as for the arch of someone's foot to rub my legs...I love to cuddle...and am generally an affectionate person
10.I love Broadway musicals (The Lion King, Elton John & Tim Rice's AIDA, The Color Purple, RENT)
11. One of my favorite musical artists is Josh Groban. I've seen him in concert numerous times. I just can't get enough of that man! You see, it's the live orchestra that I love!!! AHHH...well,..I guess it would help to know that in addition to playing the piano, I also play the guitar, saxophone & clarinet..so, yeah..I LOVE music
12. I prefer to cut my own grass because I like to see the end result..like a crisp edged driveway and I love planting my own flowers and have them color coordinated neatly..
13. I love to talk to my closest friends and just hang out
14. Watching tennis, but it's certain players that I love to watch..also basketball and my undergraduate college's football team
15. I love fishing as long as someone baits my hook lol! hahahaha...Kisha cannot stand to touch live worms or minnows or even take the fish off of the hook (not unless I have gloves on), but I can cast out the line and reel the fish in very well :) I don't even need a bobber to tell if a fish is on the line...

ok..this list is getting way too long, but this gives you lots of insight into most of my passions...

Hmmmmmmmmm.

With the shape my health is in I don't have to many passions left to me that I can partisapate in. I'll tell you the one's I can still partisapate in then the one's I cant.

1. My Family, I love sitting Visiting with my boys, my wife ( god knows we have had our trouble the past few years, she don't like porn, her problem not mine, I love it) I don't want to think about spending the rest of my life without her. Ya I still love her in my own way.

2. Shooting- I can't hunt anymore so I go out in the yard and shoot the .22, only 25 and just about 50 yrd. targert's. When we can my son DJ, (yes David Jr.) and my self go shoot prairie dogs. I hope I dont make anyone sick now but have you ever seen a prairie dog pup blow up ofter it has been hit with a 55 gr Hornady Vmax bullet? Let me tell you they blow up like you have shoved a M80 up there ass and and lit the fuse.

3. I LIKE BEER

4. PORN

With the shape my lungs are in there isn't much I can do without losing my breath so I spend a lot of watching a lot of tv.

1. WORKING

2. My horse's, I've got one hell of a good dunn mare that I can't use anymore.

3. Cattle. Damn I miss the heard I use to have.

OK that's enough from me. I'll just go have another beer and try to be happy.

Dave

Ok now some of the things I use to enjoy

Okay, this will probably not come as a big surprise, but one of my passions is music. It started at a very young age to the point now that I can't take silences anymore. There has also been a time in which I combined the love of listening to music with dancing. There are probably some old VHS tapes of me performing choreography to songs of Britney Spears & Backstreet Boys, in the late 90s and early 00s. The love evolved to DJ-ing. Ultimate dream would be working at a radio station, so if you have contacts at KiisFM, let me know. Image

I'm managing one of approximately 150 entertainment stores where we sell CD/DVD/Games/Ipad/Headphones, etc. So you could say my work is some sort of hobby too. Don't prefer a specific kind of music, like it all. From pop (Carly Rae Jepsen), rock (Linkin Park), urban (Kanye West/Rihanna, to name just two of a long list, lol), dance (Tiesto/Armin/Avicii) to classics from the 70s or 80s. Love movies too; action, thrillers, romantic comedies ...

Moving on, more passions. Following sports. Football is a sport I can literally watch 24/7. It's the kind of Football we call soccer. Image Another one is tennis with majors like Wimbledon (my favorite) and US Open in second place. Formula 1, which I follow for about a decade now. From the time Michael Schumacher won all races to this exciting year where many drivers can still win the Championship with only a few races to go, yay. Since two years I also keep track of the NBA Basketball. I can see matches live here, but due to the time difference it's usually at 2 or 3am Dutch time ...

Besides hanging out with friends at their place or mine, going out to dance or just have a drink, I also love visiting the theater. Most of the times only female friends want to go there with me though, lol. Classics are Tarzan (Phil Collins' songs <333), Beauty And The Beast and Wicked. So there you have it, some more Gert-Jan! me passion? Star Trek, Star Wars, sure, i never miss clone wars and even have part of my Halloween costume.

foodie, steak, pizza, chocolate, wine to some extent and beer is better than sodas.

actually thats just stuff i like to indulge from time to time.

my passion is to create something, i've always in the back of my mind had the yearning to learn more, about a great many things.

My artistic side wants to do clay modeling/molding, i've always liked drawing even try my hand at painting or just building like when i was a kid, an arty side i guess.

but most of all, Love. it keeps me young and energetic.

And happy.

My biggest passion is Formula1, almost like a religion. The alarm clock is set for 6 am tomorrow, this morning it was 5 am. If been following F1 since the early nineties and still can't get enough of it.
And still i have only been to a race once.

Another passion is reading books, mostly thrillers and detectives. Ludlum is still one of my favorite writers, altough his books are a bit dated by now it's in the way he writes and tells the story. The jack reacher series by Lee Child is also a brilliant read.

Other than that i'm doing up a house while living in it. It's not really a passion but i like to work out how to do things. Latest thing a made was a set of stairs. Next project will be a wardrobe with sliding doors but i'm still in the thinking fase and that can take a while.

I think it's safe to say that you're a real man's man, Walt. Your passions appear to indicate a natural inclination to work with your hands and your mind (the knitting especially gave that away, lol) And I think your passions are just as cool, if not cooler, than anything I listed.

:theman:

You are a very passionate woman, Kisha, and that comes as no surprise to anyone! But I must say I'm delighted by how varied your passions are, and how many of them I can relate to. There are many, and although they may not be extreme or current passions of mine, I can definitely relate to most of them, with the exceptions of 7, 8, 11, 12, 14 and 15.

Look how much we have in common!

If you can combine your passions with your work, you're doing very well, Gert-Jan! That's an awesome place to be in for you, surrounded by what you love AND making a living out of it. And you dance? Oh, I would LOVE to see some of your moves, mister! I bet you rocked the Backstreet Boys, who I will admit I had a thing for myself. I love to go dancing (although it's been a while for me), there's nothing like the feel of a good beat when moving your feet, is there?

(I tried to think of a way to describe it where it didn't rhyme, but came up with nothing)

Look, it's Gert-Jan busting a move!

That's real passion and commitment if you've been following it since the early nineties! And I can relate to house projects (not a real "passion" of mine either, but I still love doing them), although sometimes it feels like I've bitten off more than I can chew. Good luck with the wardrobe project, and congrats on the new set of stairs!

thank you julia, that's very kind of you to say, i do love some other things, like videogames, i'm passionate about a few of them, i especially like the FPS type but i do the occasional strategy and boardgames.

reading too, i love reading i do it everyday.

right now i'm reading a book on the old Startrek show, behind the scenes stuff, how it came about , the genesis of the show, and it has pictures in the center pages.

my gf Tobie gave it to me on our trip last month, i didn't expect it but she is thoughtful like that.

What about you Julia, what's a good read for you ?
Did you read Shades of Grey? it seems to be "the new in thing" these days

Wanted to show these, Julia, from my riding days. These were taken in Denver in maybe 1998 or so, so I would have been about 55.

Forgive me for a little blatent bragging, Julia, but you asked about our passions, heehee. The OldTimers around here have put up with my bragging about my days on Magellan before. Magellan was a spacecraft we built in Denver (about 2-1/2 yrs.,) beginning in early 1987, launched aboard the Shuttle Atlantis (7 months to integrate the S/C into the shuttle and complete all testing,) in early April 1989, then flew to Venus (18 months, 1-1/2 times around the sun) and operated in orbit around Venus for 4 years.

I was originally the radio technician, responsible for the test and operation of the radio subsystem under an engineer and our Lead Engineer, along with one other tech. They asked me to stay with the project at launch, which I accepted. I supported the launch at Cape Canaveral, then the flight mission at Mission Ops Control in Denver. After launch, I was promoted to Engineering and stayed with the project until it's end in October, 1994.

This was truly the highlight of my life. I worked with the most fantastic group of people anyone could ask for. I was simply an "in the trenches" screwdriver twister who truly was in the right place at the right time. And I can actually trace getting this job to a DUI I got in California in about 1984. If I hadn't got that DUI, I most likely would never have been in position to get this job. You can NEVER tell what the future holds for you. That is why, when things seem bad, no matter how hard it may seem, you just keep plugging. Someday, somehow, things will get better.

Thanks,Julia for putting this up here. It's good to know more about someone from their likes and this way you can know more about a person based what you may have in common with them. I will say that I can get chatty when it comes to describing myself and talking,so forgive me if I get carried away, but this is who I am.

I will break things down and gives examples of some of my fave passions based on categories. Julia, you and I have to seriously talk some Buffy when I see you at Adultcon next year! Nice to see someone actually mention that on here! Anyway, here are some of my passions

Movies:Faves include Star Wars (all 6 of them!),Star Trek,Smokey and the Bandit,Clueless,Scott Pilgrim vs The World (love this movie!),Mean Girls,Valley Girl,The Fast and The Furious franchise,Lord of the Rings,Charlie's Angels (both movies)Never Been Kissed,All the James Bond movies,All the Batman movies(including the 1966 Adam West/Burt Ward version)Superman,Spider-Man,The Avengers,Captain America,The Breakfast Club,Sixteen Candles(There's a story with this one that I'll tell you how to find out more about)Weird Science,Airplane!,and so many, many more, but this is a start.

Music:Duran Duran(yes,I'm a huge fan and more about this later)Taylor Swift,Evanescence,Ke$ha,Avril Lavinge,Katy Perry,KISS,Linkin Park,Madonna,Demi Lovato,Christina Aguilera,Donny Hathaway(Personal and Musical),The Police,Berlin,Missing Persons,Kelly Clarkson,Prince,Tori Amos,Debbie Gibson,Depeche Mode,Def Leppard,Eminem,Public Enemy,Shania Twain,Power Station,Bon Jovi,Judas Priest,Type O Negative,Nirvana,Hole/Courtney Love,Ratt and I can go on and on. But I listen to all types of music.

Sports: I am a die-hard Chicago White Sox fan! Born and raised on the South Side of Chicago,I used to live near Comiskey Park and have attended many games. I used to be a Cubs fan when I was younger and it was okay to like both teams, now it's one or the other. I also love the Bulls and the Blackhawks. Used to be a Bears fan,but not anymore. Tampa Bay Buccaneers,Oakland Raiders,Baltimore Ravens are now my teams. I also like the Tampa Bay Lightning and Carolina Hurricanes hockey teams.

I also write when the inspiration strikes. I have written poetry and short stories as well as the naughty fantasies. Carmen has complimented me on the ones I've written for her,and I enjoy doing it. I also have a Tumblr page where I have written several blogs. I mentioned earlier that there was a story about Sixteen Candles, and you can find that on my page. If any of you are curious to take a peek, and I encourage that you do and please give me feedback,my page is under injusticeleagueofdoom. Just type it in the search engine or look up my name (Byron Wozgen). One of those should do the trick.

I also love comic books, and reading. I enjoy Biographies and fantasy novels. I have caught on to Hunger Games and it is a good read. I need to get the 3rd book to finish the series and I understood the movie even though I hadn't read the books before. Another of my faves is the Star Wars series of books. There are a ton of them out there,I recommend 2 that are a must read,in my opinion. The first,is "Shadows Of The Empire". This book is a mid-point story that takes place after events in "The Empire Strikes Back" and before "Return of the Jedi". It has new characters, and they actually did a musical score for this! I own it and it is just like you were watching the movie and hearing the iconic music of John Williams. The second,is actually a trilogy, but I still say it's worth it,is the "Heir to Empire:The Thrawn Trilogy" by Timothy Zahn. An excellent writer,he captures the essence of the Star Wars universe and makes you feel right at home with everything going on. If there was to be another movie trilogy made,it needs to be these 3 books! Dark Force Rising, and The Last Command are the other 2 books in the trilogy. I'm a visual person,so when I was reading these books,I had the full on experience of music, sound fx and everything as if it were a movie.

Fave tv shows:Pretty Little Liars,The Lying Game,Switched at Birth,Nashville,Attack of The Show,The Voice,Revolution,Impact Wrestling,Monday Night Raw,NCIS,Smallville,Charmed,Buffy the Vampire Slayer,The Hills,X-Play(video games,not porn related,sorry),Heroes,Veronica Mars,The Simple Life,Chelsea Lately,Batman,Angel,Voltron,Speed Racer,Battle of The Planets,Wonder Woman,Starsky and Hutch. (Yes,I am about the retro!)

And of course, porn! Which is the reason I'm here in the VNA! If you have managed to get through my chattiness, thank you. Once I get excited talking about my fave topics,I'm off and running. I hope you have enjoyed finding out more about me and what I'm all about. Thanks again, and please visit my tumblr and leave feedback!

There were a few things I forgot to mention in my chatfest. Other fave tv shows include Glee and The Vampire Diaries. Another thing I'm passionate about is the world famous HOLLYWOOD sign. I have had a strong childhood fascination with seeing those letters on Mt.Lee,and it has been my lifelong dream to see it up close and personal one day. I am planning to make it out to Adultcon in LA next year, and with any luck, and with someone to make the journey with me,I plan on getting legally close to the sign and looking at it. Also,I want to see the Batcave in Bronson Canyon, which isn't that far from the Hollywood sign. I have had drams in the past about the sign,in various forms and different ways. I even dreamt of flying over it,kind of like an out-of-body experience. And the letters were glowing bright in my dream. I have always tried to figure out what it means, but never have.

Another thing I'm passion about,is wanting to create things visually and have music accompanying it. I don't really have the type of computer for this, but if I could do it,I would. I have wanted to do something based around the VNA ladies here. I'm sure I'll figure out something.
