The smoke was just hanging in the air, you could see the cloud about head high, was quite funny to see all the people standing in there with all that smoke. You didn't even need to light up, just going in there would give you the nicotine fix.
Vicky, at my University the smokers are not allowed to smoke inside the building
What are they doing?
They are smoking infront of the entrance where all people go through.
It stinks like hell & if you look down to the ground, you can see hundreds of used cigarettes laying around, inspite of a big ashtray which is standing 5 meters away.
It anit easy to remove all those smoked cigarettes & additional waste from between the paved stone ground.
It looks like crap.
If you ask those smokers you only earn ignorant smiles, useless comments like: "It wasn't me" or a "fuck off"... etc...

They are a plague! :shake:

Carl, over here one of the laws in the 'non-smoking in buildings' code is a provision that you also can't smoke within 20 feet of the entrance (or more.) It's pretty sad when the smokers want to have some rights, but, instead of working to be good mates, they rebel by being slobs. I'm sure there are a lot of courteous smokers, but they are overshadowed by the slobs.

i hear you carl, it's same here, poor bastards sucking on those cancer sticks outisde in -25c cold, lol

i almost feel sorry for them. i didn't check the law but i don't think many places hold them to 20feet, tho its a better idea than huddling around the door.

rokkerr, yep change is good, now if only they'd do something about those damn lavatory in the planes.

they're so small, you're lucky if the girl can get her legs up high enough to take her underwear off
they're so small, can't kneel so she'd have to do 69 for a bj (wait is that a bad thing?)
they're so small, the cockroaches are hunchbacked.
We’re talking small. When I pulled my dick out, I broke the window!
they're so small, i'd be affraid she'd gag before its fully in her twat (think about it ;)
they're so small, you can hardly tie your belt after the girl goes out
They're so small, they renamed the mile high club to the half mile club !

and finally they're so small, you'd have to go outside to change your mind !

Hell, smoking anywhere was acceptable. In fact, smoking was acceptable. Not sure what it was that got me to quit 27 years ago, after 22 yrs of smoking, but just glad I did.

In the past smoking was not only acceptable but de rigueur the pubs were totally smoke filled but no one noticed because we all smoked ( the government liked it as well ,because every budget included a small rise on tobbaco tax.
I can't rail against smokers as I only gave up 2 years agoafter 57 years of doing so,my best previous time of abstinence was 3 months ,which I managed several times .
In my time in the Navy I always had access to duty free cigarettes so much cheaper than civilian prices so it became a hard core habit.
However I've got 2 years in and counting but there are times when I'd love a smoke.

I'm staying up late tonight probably because I won't be able to get much sleep. I am grateful that there is a place I can go to just type and touch base with friends from all over the world. This is a great place to share a laugh, vent about what you want, post a pic, or talk about the weather...how great is that? I'd say we are pretty lucky to have a place like this.

Tonight I lost my mother to respiratory disease most likely caused from a lifetime of smoking. I wish this is the last time someone will lose a loved one due to smoking but I can't say that, but I can encourage anyone who might be considering quitting to hang in there and keep trying. I don't want to lose another soul to this disease as long as I have a breath on this earth. God Bless

My thoughts are with you, Mike. I'm so sorry for you.

You mentioned a point, I want to add something..."caused from a lifetime of smoking" ...when did it began?
In the time when your Mom was young...a teen, maybe?
We have to protect our young people. They are thinking: Oh, it doesn't matter, I'm young, strong & it will not affect me...
They don't have the experiences we have and they might regret when their life is ending too early & they can imagine the years they threw away...& thinking it would have been better to get old in respect, though.

I'm so sorry baby, it's been a long hard road for all of you. It's not easy, she's gone to a better place now and she is not suffering any more. I hope you can all take solace in each other and reach out to all your family and draw them closer. It sucks that it takes something like this to bring all the family together and all of a sudden you realize how important you all are to each other. It's hard for us outsiders to know what to say, we can't make you feel better but please know that we care deeply for you and we are here for you should you need anything at all. Hug Connie and Taz really hard ok?

Thanks to each and every one of you for taking a few minutes out of your day to say a few kind words. It is extremely comforting and I can't say enough about this community and the members who are in it..truly remarkable people :)

Carl asked when my Mom began smoking. As many people in the 20's 30' 40' 50's smoking was just what everyone did. If you were not a smoker you were not part of the group...everybody smoked. My Mom and even my Dad were one of the many. My Dad was fortunate enough to recognize the dangers and quit smoking over 35 years ago. It wasn't until the 60's when doctors and the Surgeon General began to make the medical connections between smoking and lung disease. Of course the big tobacco companies fired back with their own experts disputing the Surgeon General's findings.

Since then and over the past 50 years I'm glad to say that less and less people are smoking. With education and awareness I hope that the trend continues its downward path in the years to come.

Thanks to all of you once again
