The Moderators Thread

Hey guys we talked about having a specific thread for moderators a few times and I never got around to doing it so here it is. First off I just want to thank the members here who go to the trouble of moderating! We certainly can't get to every show, so Rokkerr and I are extremely grateful to you.

So if you have any questions or comments, post them here. If someone is an ass and you kick them out, post the reason and their ip address here, so when they write to me later and ask to come back I'll know the story.

Just a couple of things I noticed over the past few weeks/months. Most of the non VNA girls do have their own webmasters or husbands moderating their shows, so there is no need for additional moderators. Just relax and enjoy the show! One mod is plenty, and the girl and her webmaster may feel like we are stepping on their toes when they already have it covered. Do feel free to whisper to them if they look like they need help or they are confused about something, especially the newbies, you can always step in if you are needed or if they ask you to, but each non VNA website is it's own separate entity and they may have their own way of running their own business.

So if you get to a show as a mod, and there is already a mod in the room, just press F5 on your keyboard to refresh and re-log in as a member. If that mod leaves, then press F5 again and relog as a mod. That way there is always just one mod, i think it makes for less confusion, you know... too many cooks....

We have models from all around the world, so don't be surprised if someone speaks a different language. To me personally this is not a problem, but it should be up to the model. Take your cues from her. This is not camZ (camworld) the moderators over there were ridiculed and hated, a lot of people here remember them. I don't want to scare viewers away by being overbearing. Bobbi is dutch and I'm sure from time to time her members will speak to her in dutch, likewise for Gabby, hell some of her members couldn't speak english if their lives depended on it. So I don't think we can have a blanket rule like they did at camworld, that you were not allowed anything but English. If the model tells the room, "please speak english" then enforce what she says, but let her be the first one to say it.

I want this to be a happy relaxed place and the viewers to be comfortable. I think overall it is, and we are all doing great. It's still new and we are still working out all the little kinks, and I do mean little, because these are very minor issues. So please don't take it as a criticism, I love you guys, you are awesome and I don't know what I would do without you!

Either way, it's a swell idea, since it's always good for everyone to get on the same page.

Thank you Vicky. I have wondered many times about the language issue. The other day some one was speaking Spanish in caps, me being a dumb American (who only speaks one language) I whispered to him "no caps" , didn't work then I gagged him for a bit. After about 5 min I ungagged him and whispered no caps and English only. hehe he learned to speak English without the caps. But I got it now.

We have to remember that a lot of people are brand new to the computer,they would never know that it was considered rude to be typing in caps, so yes, lets tell them, but tell them nicely, and politely and tell them why. They are not trying to be rude, so they don't need to be "reprimanded", they just need to be "informed". It's so easy to hurt someone's feelings with text and typing, that's why we have emoticons. I know cause I've done it. The person on the other end can't see your face or know that you are smiling as you write something, so it's easy to put someone off, and they will think, "boy they are a bunch of nazi's over there, I'm never going back."

I think I mentioned before, when moderating (and sometimes not,) I like to Whisper to an offender first. If that doesn't work, then a more direct statement on the open chat. And we, as moderators, need to be nice, too. I like to start a comment to an offender with a "please" as well. Like you said, Vicky, we don't want to anger them, we want to simply ask them to be nice and to explain the rules.

Sometimes we tend to forget that this is still a sex chat, and that men and women under the spell of extreme horniness do tend to become a tad overzealous. Being polite and playing it cool is the best strategy for a mod; usually, it goes away.

Now, if someone is truly being a trollish bootyhole, I always use the Three Strike rule: tap on the shoulder via Whisper first offense; public warnng on Strike Two, kick him out on third strike. But, even with that, I'd still allow him back in after a "time out" to see if he got the message.

The point is to be professional about it and not act like you have a hammer in your hand and want to nail everybody. (Uhhh...not THAT hammer, Rokkerr. Heh.)

I don't know if you are or not, Dave, but we do have to be nice to them. You have to be able to judge the "sin." Obviously, an obvious real baddie, "Spread your legs, you stupid bitch!" would bring up an immediate muting. Then a whisper to the individual like, "You have been muted. We play nice here. Any more like that will get you banned." Then, once he is unmuted, watch closely.

If it is only using caps, that warrants a whisper. If they ignore that, a comment on the open chat. More, and a mute. More after that, a ban.

Vivky, when we ban someone, 1) can they be "unbanned?" and 2) does it last only for the show or forever?

I'd like to get on there and practice the settings with a couple of the guys sometime, but don't want to be banned and can't get back in

I noticed that CherrieV had a moderator her last show, but I stayed logged in as Admin. I tried to whisper to that Admin that it was her show and I was there only as back-up, but she never replied. Finally, I said "If you ever want to whisper to anyone, left-click their name, then select Whisper from the menu. Then that comment will go only to that person." She replied, "Thanks. I was looking for that."

I will generally log in to a non-VNA girls show if it is her first show, and AdminScot or some other admin is not there. If an Admin is there, I will generally whisper that it is their show, but we are available for backup. If they don't reply, I'll explain how Whisper works, then leave it alone unless they ask a question. Vicky stated early on that we are only at the non-VNA shows as back-up or when requested. Sometimes I will whisper to the model right after she starts if there is no other Admin in the house. But other than that, I'll leave it alone. I have seen some guys make questionable comments, but then have seen the model react to it. So, we have to stand back and, as always, let her do her show the way she wishes.

I think you were maybe a little quick on the draw, I think he was trying to be funny. The part about $10 and a sandwich is kinda funny, the thing is it's hard to see someone's face or tone of voice, when they are saying something, so it's hard to know if they are trying to be funny, or disrespectful.

But then he totally went off on you. You are a mod and he should have respected you, so I still feel the same way. If he was smart he would have apologized and said, I wasn't trying to be disrespectful, I'm sorry if it came across that way. That would have been the right thing to do. But he did the opposite and threatened you. Someone threatening to hack my site and hand out free passwords is enough for me to ban him for life. That is a direct attack on me and on all of us.

Rokkerr or I will write to him and give him a chance to apologize. Anyone else want to share their thoughts?

I'm sitten hear thinking how to say all this without sounding like a nut case. Now this is coming strait from the heart.
I'm not the smartest guy in the world, and never said I was. I like to think of my self as a strait up kind of guy, if I'm joken I'll throw in LOL or hehe. But I'll never ask someone what they make, that's none of my busness. I could have let damn near all of it pass untill he came up with that BIG statement he made. I'd had it them, my mind was made up for me then. I don't want to drive customers away but I don't want to sit and watch somebody ask ?'s that is none of there busness. Or make rude coments. I may drop the hammer a lil to quick if I do and get over ruled thats fine, I'll not hold a grudge. I did not get all of what was said copy and pasted, just what I thought was the important stuff at the time.

There is a button you can press in the controls to get the chat transcript, you guys may not have noticed it.... just click it and the chat transcript comes up in it's own box, might make it easier for you to copy/paste the whole chat.....
