Rokkerr and I fly to Boston tomorrow to go to a family reunion in New England. It will be the first time I see my mom since 2007 and my brother since 2009. I'm really looking forward to it, he has adopted a second baby, a boy, and it's the first time I will see him ever. He is a year old now. He has a little girl too, she is 6 now, I'm going to spoil those kids rotten! I'm just trying to get well, taking lots of meds, it sucks flying (well landing and takeoff) when you have head/sinus/ears congestion. We have horrible flights as usual with connections, so gotta do it all twice. But nothing is gonna get me down, I'm really excited to see my family. On the way back, I'm gonna stop and say hello to Housewife Kelly too, cause she's in that area. Yay! Goodtimes!

Buy a pack of chewing gum, Vicky. It helps a ton with takeoffs and landings. I always start chewing when they get close to the runway, so that it's fresh (better tasting and more chewable) during takeoff and the climb out.

I don't have trouble during landing, because the descent slope is much shallower than during take-off, and my head easily adjusts to the pressure change. But if you need it, chew another piece when you notice them starting descent.

And buy it now, not at the airport, haha.

Have a great time with family and friends

Sure you can, Mike. Why do you think I said buy it before you get to the airport? It's like $3.50 - $5.00 at the airport - right in line with those $1.25 beers you can buy for $6.

At least you can down here in the states.

Have a good time Vicky and I either have some ice or cough drop in my mouth to ease the flying tension...

lol..I was pretty sure that the airlines didn't want people buying gum at the airport because they know that we like to stick it in the damnedest of places after the flavour has worn off :)

Have fun Vicky and Rokkerr

Take some Starbursts with you...that'll do the trick :) strawberry flavour ...yummy

Have a great time Vicky and Dave, spoil those kids so they always want to spent time with Auntie Vicky!

So Walt when you fly your head gets bigger when you take off, then it does when you land. Well that does explain a lot. Maybe you should fly from Denver to Death Valley so your head has a chance to shrink a bit :nanah: :noway! :signhammer: :moonwave: :iloveyou:

I hope you're feeling a bit better and the flight went well. Sounds like an exciting reunion.... are you feeling a bit nervous about it too?

Mollie & Bollie jump rope, friendship stamp set, BFF nail kit, books, dolls...

Fisher-Price stuff, bumpy ball, Sesame Street "Let's Rock Elmo", Lego Duplo...

Have fun Aunt Vicky & Uncle Dave, lol.

New England is downright beautiful, the fall colors have arrived, everything is red, orange and golden, where my brother lives, everyone is next to a lake there are so many of them. It's nice and hilly here, not flat and boring like Florida. I ran yesterday and today, by 8 am it's a perfect 53, ideal for running. I ran by the lake each time. I love this weather it's so refreshing and invigorating! I love the New England style houses, with the big porches and white picket fences, it's very fairy tale like.

So the little boy is 18 months, he's running around like a maniac and just starting to speak a few words. He goes to "tumbling" class every monday morning. I took them out shopping for clothes, I had no idea they made jeans for 18 month old boys! Soooooooo cute! All the little Tshirts, adorable, I couldn't help myself.... The little girl is 5 and she's in kindergarten every day but she does karate once a week and plays soccer twice a week! What a busy schedule they have. We went to a soccer game with them last night, not at all what I expected, lol... sometimes the ball would go by and they would just stare, or they'd run the wrong way on the field, or they'd try to kick the ball and fall down instead... So comical, the parents and coaches all yelling at them, trying to tell them what to do. I can't believe they start so early...

It was very strange to be with family, I haven't seen any of them since 2007, when they came to Rokkerr and I's wedding. My mother looks like she's aged 20 years, even though it's only been 6. She had 2 strokes since I saw her last and she still smokes like a chimney even though she has walking pneumonia most of the time. My stepfather (a two time cancer survivor) cornered me at breakfast yesterday and told me his doctor found some lumps that did not look promising, and he wasn't going to tell my mom about them, because he didn't want her to worry. He said if it's cancer again, he will not get treatment this time, he will let it take it's course. He is 70 and chemo is too horrible to ever go through again. He asked me if he were to die, would I take care of my mother? I told him yes of course, without question.

There was a lot of talking over coffee, a lot of touching moments, and some frustrating ones, like getting my parents moving. Everything takes so much longer than normal, plus they don't remember anything, have to repeat over and over. When I went to pick them up for lunch yesterday they had forgotten we were going out, so they weren't ready. They were sitting there watching tv and were surprised to see me. Then when I went to pick them up to go over to my brothers house at the prescribed time, they had completely forgotten and were both asleep! I had to knock on the door really loud 5 times!

My mom brought me a jean skirt I had left at her house in 2006 and to my surprise, it still fit me, haha! Then my stepfather complained all night that it was too short and my heels were too high. He kept asking where the other half of the skirt was lol...
We took everyone out for chinese tonight and the little girl was amazing using the chopsticks... It has been a lot of fun but I'm ready to go home. Tomorrow my parents leave and we head back to boston and will have dinner with housewife kelly tomorrow night. Our flight back is 7 am saturday morning.

Thanks from be as well Vicky for the update.

There are always interesting things when family gets together. Everyone is usually pretty civil and get along but there is always one or two people who you would never pick to hang out with but because they are family you are forced to put a smile on your face and put up with them.... For me that's my brother in law.. A major pain in my ass but I put up with his crap because I usually don't have to put up with him for another 6 months.

Thanks again Vicky. It sounds like you are having a nice visit. Your stepfather sounds exactly like he is supposed to... Reminds me of my father when I showed him a few pics of you with Connie. He said your skirt was too short but I never saw him look away from the screen. Then he saw a pic of you in a bikini. From what I could tell I'd say that you have a new senior citizen fan in my father. :)

ciao babe
