I finally got it working again. It appears that even though I resized the pics to a smaller size, it was trying to upload with the original dimensions. best discription I can come up with is it was like the smaller pic (which properties showed as being 200x200) had an invisible frame around it making up the rest of the original size. I used a snipping tool, highlighted the reduced pic, saved it under a different name. and now the forum uploaded it.
Keep smiling. It makes people wonder what you are up to :-)

Glad you fingered something out. I've all ready forgotten how I got my current avatar up. I got tired of fiddling with it, :lmao: It seems like somehow that, if the original is too large, you have to somehow disassociate it from that original.

Having trouble getting my profile pic on here. It keeps telling me that it needs to be a specific size. Any suggestions?

Maverick, read thru this topic and see if it helps. If you are still lost, post a little more info about the troubles you are seeing, such as picture sizes you are using, etc, and I will try to help you further.

Thanks

Walt is there any way you can help me resize a photo for a profile pic? I'm not sure how to do it, not very techno savvy lol

Do you have Paint on your computer, Scotty? If you're not sure, you should have a search function. I think that most all PCs have it. Macs and others, I'm not sure.
1. Right-click the picture you want. My choice would be one where the vertical length is more than the horizontal length, but you choose whatever you like. A pop-up menu will appear. Look for "Open with...." Click that.
2. Look for Paint on that menu. Click that to open your picture.
3. On the "Home" menu, you will see "Resize" among the selections at the upper left. Click that.
4. On the right will be a selection box for "Pixels." Click that. Make sure that the "Maintain aspect ratio" box is checked.
5. Enter maybe 200 or 250 or so for your longest dimension. (Hor. or Vert.) Those would be ideal for an avatar. Then click "File," "Save as..." and then JPEG. If you don't do this step, it will save it as a ".png" file (a Paint format,) which the forum won't take.

If you want to post a picture in a post, see my post on page two of this topic. You can be much freer with your size. The forum will adjust it if the size is bigger than the forum will accept.

Let me know how it works out, Scotty.

there are some free services online also like Pic Monkey etc, pretty much work like Paint does.

Yes, Andrew. But, if you use Paint, you don't have to download and install anything. It's all ready there for you to use.

Oh, I have a much more capable program for advanced ops. But, for something as simple as resizing, or cropping, or several very basic ops. Paint works just fine. It's all ready installed, it starts up fast and gets the job done quickly. I use it a lot for those basic operations.

I would like to help folks make posts on the forum. Nothing really wrong with how folks are posting, but hopefully this helps.

If you are answering someone's post, you do not need to quote them if you are answering right after them. Their post is right there. You only have to quote them if their post has already been followed by one or more other. The purpose of the quote is to reference people back to the post you are answering, so that they can see what you are talking about. If the post you are answering is right there, there's no need to quote it.

Do it as you wish. I'm just making a suggestion.

Hahaha, I'm working on that one. Some of mine do, too. And a lot of Shanda's posts on Twitter do that. Hers are cell phone, too. Maybe that's a hint. I think mine that rotated is a cell pic. When I finger it out, I'll post it here.

Will I get a hug?????????? :lmao:

In reading a lot of sites, it appears that there's no easy way to correct them. The easiest I found was the one mentioned. Download them to your laptop and rotate them there. There are many apps talked about, some free and some paid. But I'm not buying something to correct a problem that Apple knows about, but refuses to remedy.

It would be nice if it's a picture of you, but it doesn't absolutely have to be? You could put a picture of some shiny beautiful mag wheels since your name is Mr. Wheels, and you can change it later. You can change it once a month like Mike from Calgary does haha.... He swaps out his favourite naked pictures..... If you were addicted to Coca-Cola you could put a picture of a Coke logo it doesn't really matter what is, it's just so people can identify the post quickly as being you.
