Since I go to the movies - A LOT - I figured I may as well start a Movie thread.

Today I went to the movies to watch Captain America 2 (bear in mind I have Captain America 1 on my box and haven't had a chance to watch it yet lol) ... but the movie was BAD ASS!!! I don't EVER give spoilers on movies - so there's no threat of reading any - unless posted by someone else. I found it to be predictable - maybe I watch too many movies in general or simply too many Marvel movies, but I guessed all the "shockers" in advance .... but would still go watch it again. Definitely worth checking out in the theater - if you like Marvel movies!!!

Another movie I saw recently was "Noah" ... the story about Noah's Arc. I also thoroughly enjoyed that movie as well. Many were concerned that it would be a "bible beating" kind of movie considering the story line .... but it wasn't. It wasn't "believable" by any stretch of the imagination - unless you believe in walking, talking rocks, but it was still very entertaining nonetheless. I'd see it in the theater again.

I gave my mom the choice of movie not too long ago ... and she chose for us to see "Single Mother's Club". It was, as expected, a typical chick flick. Some sad moments. Some funny moments. Some seriously funny moments I must admit - and if you stay a little bit into the credits ... some absolutely hysterical outtakes. I love when movies do that ... I wish more of them did. I don't think I'd have been able to get through the "wood" scene without cracking up at least a few times - and I'm usually pretty good at putting on a straight face when it comes to some ridiculous analogies - I am, after all, a porn star LMAO. My entire work life revolves around exactly that! All in all, a good movie. Could have waited until it was out of the theater, but out of the choices playing (crossing off anything else I'd already seen) , my personal choice would have been "Need for Speed" which I still haven't seen and I believe is no longer in the theater. But, this was decent.

Another movie I've seen is "Nonstop" with Liam Neeson on an airplane. Pretty much the entire movie takes place on an airplane during a long international flight. I thought it was good. Some good twists here and there. Definitely some suspense throughout. Not bad. Could have waited until out of the theater, but not a bad way to spend a couple hours.

"Ride Along" had been given great reviews. I'm not a big "comedy" kind of girl. I prefer to be entertained in other ways when it comes to movies unless I'm REALLY in the mood for some laughs. I let me mom pick the movie and she chose this. There was nothing else either of us had interest in that week that we hadn't already seen and since it had been in theaters for a LONG time already - we decided it must be at least decent. It was FUNNY. They didn't spoil it by playing all the funny parts in the previews like so many movies do (that's how I felt about Anchorman 2 - I could have saved 2 hours of my life by missing that - but went with a huge groups of people who chose that over a movie I wanted to see). All in all ... could have waited for it to leave the theater. Not a "believable" movie by any means, but had some great laughs.

So far, this year, my favorite movie is BY FAR "Wolf of Wall Street" ... I actually DID see this in the theater twice and would have gone to see it a third time. Maybe it's Leo (yeah I've got a major crush on him) ... but I don't think that was what drew me to it. The movie was not only based on a true story, but believable - in a bigger than life kind of way. It was entertaining. It was HYSTERICAL at times - almost choked my soda onto other watchers at one point because I couldn't hold back my laughter any longer. This is one I'd own and watch over and over again.

Yeah, Charlee, but have you been to the movies lately? :rotffl: (yes, I know I'm an idiot. My ex-wife made sure I knew. :lmao: )

I don't go to many movies anymore. I was going to see Noah, but fiddled around and didn't make it. I think the last I saw was "Wicked," a story about the Wizard of Oz, in 3D. Or maybe Titanic in 3D. I'd go if I had Charlee as a movie-mate, lol.

:) I haven't seen Wicked yet though I want to .... Malificent looks good - that's coming soon. I wish I saw Titanic in the theater. Had I know how good of a movie it was I would have lol!

Hubby goes to work out and play basketball usually on Thursdays or Fridays when we're not working ... so I'll often hit a matinee by myself to kill time while he's doing his thing ... it's cheaper and I love the rewards programs. Today I could have chosen a free movie or a free large popcorn and large soda ... I paid for my ticket and took the free food (and since it's a large - I ALWAYS get it refilled before I leave - so we've all got an awesome snack for the rest of the week!)

I'm a big time movie guy too but I haven't gone much over the past year or so…I'm getting to be more selective at the shows that I want to see.

I'm with you Charlee, I loved The Wolf of Wall Street…my son HATED it…not sure why. Just saw Captn. America over the weekend. It was an OK show…didn't do much for me.

I'm really looking forward to seeing Angela Jolie in Malificent…she looks magnificent :)…and the new Amazing Spiderman movie in May looks impressive as well :)

You missed a lot missing Titanic in 3D, Charlee. If you liked the movie, I thought the 3D made it just fantastic. I wish they'd bring it around again. I wonder what they do with all those movies. They come around once, then disappear. I don't think you can show a 3D DVD at home unless you have a 3D player and a 3D TV.

Sadly, I can't handle 3D movies ... they mess with my brain and just make me want to get sick ... I'd like to try the D box someday ... but for all that extra money afraid it'll do the same as the 3D does

Today I saw "Draft Day" ... this is one I've been excited about watching since i first saw the previews for it months ago.
All in all, it was a good movie. BUT .... one of those movies where the better parts of it were in the previews .... and I also found it VERY predictable (as in I guess EVERY single thing that was going to happen - straight from the beginning) ...

I saw A Haunted House 2 today for Sophie Dee.

Can't figure out how to embed a tweet or I'd put up the one I sent her she favorited and replied to.
I'll type it out:

me: back from Haunted House 2. Sophie Dee + big screen = perfection. Someone give her more screen time :)
Sophie: thank you !! Sooo sweet xx

I'm very excited to see Spiderman ... there are a LOT of previews ... but nothing looks overly fantastic in my opinion that isn't a Marvel movie (there are several coming out this year it looks like) ... but there's one movie that just looks FUNNY ... and a chick flick it looks like as well but I'll probably go see it for some laughs ... Cameron Diaz and others ... guy is cheating on his wife with Cameron. They become friends. They find out there's another woman too ... they become friends ... then they try to plot revenge against him ... while it looks like there's even another woman in the picture too.

Today I enjoyed a massage then got dropped off at the mall. With no other plans and not feeling like ruining my massage by walking around for hours, I opted to see a movie. I saw "Transcendence" - the new Johnny Depp movie. It was OK. Seen better, seen worse. It could wait til out of the theater to be watched in my opinion, but hey, it was the only movie starting as soon as I got there, ate up the amount of time I'd be entertaining myself and I got to ogle Depp - so all in all ... I'd say it was a good day :)
