Saw Justice League. it was much better than Man of Steel or Batman vs Superman. I thought it strange that a lot of the scenes in the trailers did not make it into the final cut. I guess that happens when you have a different director finish the movie. Things get changed. It had a much lighter tone than Man of Steel or BvS. Not as good as Wonder Woman but I would say its the second best of the DC movies.

Murder on the Orient Express: I really enjoyed this one. I admit I had never seen the previous versions of the movie nor read any of Agatha Christie's books so I went in completely unaware of the material. I thought they did a fantastic job. The actors were all top notch. Definitely worth seeing

Saw Black Panther and thought it very good. I've had a couple of people I know complain about the political undertones in a super hero movie, but I thought they gave it a more grounded tone (if that can be said of an over the top super hero movie) in terms of motivations.

I also saw Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle. I didnt go in expecting much but it was a lot of fun to watch.

It's political, to be sure, but it's fairly balanced in the final analysis. I really enjoyed it, though I didn't find it quite as good as it was hyped up to be. I can think of a half dozen Marvel movies (and by that, I mean the official Disney/Marvel Studios MCU films) I enjoyed more.

Also saw DEATH WISH this past week and thought it stunk. I have nothing against remakes, reboots, etc. Indeed, the idea of a new Death Wish franchise starring Bruce Willis sounded pretty appealing. But the movie is very slow and takes itself far too seriously. Eli Roth isn't the sort of director who should attempt a "serious" movie about the topic of vigilante justice. Unfortunately, he tries to play it straight, and the result is as dull as paint drying.

2 movies not to be missed by anyone who goes to the movies to see things other than police chases and bank robberies are "I Tonya" and "3 Billboards"

Allison Janney is amazing as the mother of Tonya Harding in "I Tonya" . Sam Rockwell and Francis McDormand knock it out of the park in "3 Billboards"

So here's a challenge guys - the last film I saw at the cinema was "Naked Gun 2&1/2" which I have just looked up and it came out in 1991!
Can anyone beat that?
Sorry Walt , black and white films with the guy playing an organ don't count!!

I dont know why this thread died out but maybe we can get it going again.
Just saw Halloween. Im not big on horror movies but enjoyed this. If you liked the original Halloween it is worth seeing. It completely ignores all the other sequels so according to this there were the events of the original movie and this with nothing in between.

Venom: Best description I heard was a great 90's superhero movie lol. You could tell that the director and cast looked like they were going for an R rating but the studio wanted PG13. Venom's origin is so intricately tied to Spiderman that I wondered how they were going to do it without being able to use anything from spiderman but they did a good job of it. I'd give it a 3 out of 5.

Depending on who you talk to, this movie is either a masterpiece or a disturbing piece of film. Personally I loved this movie. It's not for everyone, but I highly recommend seeing it.

Early prediction: Joaquin Phoenix will take home an Oscar for this performance

Went and saw Ghostbusters Afterlife tonight. I liked it a lot. If you enjoyed the original this is a very good continuation of the story. Definitely worth seeing

It seems like I have been seeing trailers for a while now. Maybe I am just losing track of time.

Anyway, the theater experience is not for me anymore. I haven't gone in a long time. I am not willing to sit near a bunch of strangers, and I hear there are advertisements for products other than other movies. You can't get away from those jerks, even after paying a ridiculous ticket price.

I will wait and hope that it comes to DVD.

Now a days I just go to a matinee during the week so there isnt anyone sitting near me. For about 30 minutes before the movie starts they show tons of commercials.

I do really want to go and see the new Spider-Man movie but with the cinema being 40 minutes away (and under re-introduced covid restrictions) and only having two days off between now and Christmas I think my first real chance to get down there to see it will be Boxing Day... so head in the sand avoiding spoilers until then I guess!

Went to see Spiderman today. caught the first show at 11:20 in the morning so there werent a lot of people in the theater. It was very good. Definitely worth seeing. I am glad I was able to avoid reading any spoilers before I got to see it. I just dont get why people want to know everything about a movie before they see it. I have one friend who will try to find out everything he can about a movie before its released. . If he can find a script leaked on line he will read it. I prefer to be surprised. It makes it more fun

Last place I worked had a PA system. We had a supervisor who would always get on the PA and announce the Bronco's final score. More than one parson taped the games and asked him not to do it. But, He was a supervisor, you know....

I finally got to see Spider-Man on Monday morning - first showing of the day so few people there thankfully, and had to wear a face covering throughout the film (unless drinking or eating) - but really happy I managed, for the most part, to avoid all the spoilers too.

So you recommend it then? I've been trying to convince Rokkerr to go see it with me!

I don't watch a lot of movies, mostly 3 or 4 1/2 hour sitcom comedies, a couple older Westerns (Wanted Dead or Alive and sometimes The Lone Ranger), stuff like that. I like Nash Bridges and The Black Sheep Squadron.

So I'm just wandering thru the Guide this morning and ran across the description of an older movie from 1947, "The Bachelor and the Bobby Soxer." The description tells my life story.

"A judge orders a playboy to date her infatuated teenage sister to cure the girls crush on him."

Story of my life - "Date Walt a couple times. That'll cure your hot ways." :lmao:
