I did and I enjoyed it. Also saw Into the Woods. Not sure how to explain it. Definitely not what I'd consider a kid friendly Disney Movie lol. Also finally saw Interstellar.

Yesterday I watched Inherent Vice. I'd not heard anything about it, but it's what hubby wanted to see. I watched the preview and wasn't impressed but figured it's a star studded cast ... why not give it a shot. Personally hated it. Hubby enjoyed it. Anyone else see it? What's your thoughts?

I'd personally skip Inherent Vice, at least in the theater. Hubby enjoyed it. I thought it was crap. One of the worst movies I've seen in years, personally. But Unbroken was amazing. American Sniper looks good. Friends who have seen it say its very slow, so I MAY wait. I've not seen the first Hobbit movies so have to play catch up before I can see the new one.

Treated the kiddos to the movies this weekend. Spongebob Out of Water ... not bad for what it was. I enjoy the cartoon .. had no idea what to expect going into this one as I'd not really watched any previews for it. For the kids ... they loved it. I've seen better. Seen worse. For kids ... worth seeing in the theater, for adults, doesn't live up to Spongebob in my opinion. Lots of adult jokes as usual, but it gets a bit cheesy at the end.

I want to see it, but the very mixed reviews like you and the hubby had are everywhere so I'm waiting. Apparently the book's writer is hot or cold as well.

I haven't seen either yet. I still have to see the first Despicable Me ... started watching it on tv one day and the littlest one had zero interest, so I've still not seen it.

On Friday, hubby and I went to see 50 Shades of Grey. I was probably one of the last people to read the books simply because that is NOT my genre of interest when it comes to reading, however, I picked up the first book, couldn't put it down and couldn't wait to get home to the other two books which I managed to read in less than a week. Great writing in my opinion ... though not necessarily true to the lifestyle.

Hubby walked into it knowing pretty much nothing. No expectations, yet he enjoyed the movie giving it a 4 out of 5. I'd rate it the same. In reading the book, they did a fantastic job with casting. The female lead played her part to perfection, and in those types of situations, I think her reactions were dead on. The man who played Christian Grey, also portrayed the character in the book very well. I knew what was coming sine I'd read the books, but was very disappointed when it ended. ... simply because I couldn't believe 2 hours had gone by and that was it ... now I must wait for the next ...

Nice review Charlee, sounds like you had fun. Like you, i don't think its my kind of movie, but i have a friend in the uk who wanted to go see it, i'll see what she thinks of it but i think its going to be in the same vein as you.

i guess despite all appearances in the trailers, at its core, its kind of a romantic movie ?

It's definitely a "chick flick" ... it's pushing for romance where one only wants sexual control... so in the end, yes, it's basically a love story ... with a lot of nudity :)

I never saw the first one, which is why I didn't have much interest in this one, though everyone who saw the original and then saw this one said they loved it. I may have to play catch up and see both.

I've seen a few movies since my last posting in here. With the move, I've been so busy I'd completely forgotten about this thread. I saw Furious 7. Which I LOVED. I'm a fast & furious fan and then end was morbidly sad as I expected it would be. I saw Age of Adeline bc I needed to get out of the house one day and I'd seen everything else I had even the slightest interest in and that one had the best "showtimes" for my schedule that day. Also sad, though good. More of a chick flick than anything else, but worth seeing at home with a box of tissues if you're into that soft of thing. Took my kiddo to see Paul Blart Mall Cop 2 the other night. The first one was funny. Dumb, but funny. The second followed suit. Dumb, but funny. Guy in front of us jumped and squealed at one point :) Still haven't seen the new Avengers though I'm dying to go check it out. I'm a HUGE Marvel fan!

Go see the Avengers , it was kick ass !
i saw it in 3D and it rocked

Fast & Furious, i wasn't a fan of the series but my bud and i were looking for something to do Saturday night.
We saw it advertised at the Guzzo here at 11:50pm, but get this, the ticket girl didn't even know there was a midnight showing. Cute thing but not at all on her game. Too busy flirting it up with one of the ushers i guess lol

She gave us tickets but when we arrived at the show room, the credits were still rolling from the 9:30 screening but there was no one, the theater was empty. We thought she made a mistake. So we went back and they told us they'll rewind (the bluray lol) and show it again in the same theater.

So we got a private screening just for ourselves at midnight !

Then we went to Tim Hortons accross the street and spent a couple hours catching up.

lol

oh its all digital nowadays, i've even seen a few movies still out in cinemas in the last year or so that have had their blurays out on amazon ready to purchase before it was even done at the movies. Hollywood is hungry !

lol

Well with 12$ entry + 3$ 3D glasses, 10$ small popcorn & soda , can you blame us for wanting to stay home ?

There is one thing i don't like about all this digitalizing on screen: Blur. Whenever you see the camera panning left to right or up-down in a digital movie or tvshow (Arrow, Mom intro sequence), the screen gets blurry. Even at the movies. its 2 part problem: a refresh rate problem (60hz vs 120hz vs 240hz) and a framerate problem (24fps vs 60fps vs 120fps).

i hear 4k will lessen that and the new nanopixels (being worked on at Oxford University) will help tremendously with that too.

But we ain't there yet. Sometimes i miss the simplicity of film.

it also happens when the framerate is too low, 1080@60 is good but @120 will be better but huger in term of file size.

Some videos go down to 23,97fps like the old days of reel movies, yikes that's not pretty in digital.

What can i say, digital is a beast and we gotta tame it.

But i digress. Fun movie if you like fast cars, loose women (check!), big explosions (i do!), short skirts (that too!), very short skirts (mmm), barely enough to hide their modesty (and we like that ! lol)

hope you're having a good day sweetie

You hit the nail on the head! One of the things I like about reels ... are ... well ... it's REAL! If it's shot grainy, it looks grainy. If it's done well, you can tell it's done well and it's not blurry. I almost had a heart attack when we were basically forced into getting a Hi-Def camera. This is PORN. I'm not 24 years old and well ... hi-def shows ALL flaws ... crystal clear. Now everyone is talking about stepping it up even further ... oh God, please do NOT allow my zits to be in 3-D. I must draw the line somewhere lol!
