I'm ashamed this even happened but that it happened in my home county. I was surprised to see it made tv news. On Facebook the outrage is coming from outside the county. The woman was arrested and I'm curious to see what happens to her.

This makes me cry... I hope they find who did it, but the punishment will not be severe enough, it never is. The woman who owned my Skittles, now has more dogs. (This after Skittles and 5 others were consfiscated from her due to cruelty. 4 of his mates were euthanized the same day and only skittles and one other were able to be rehabilitated and put up for adoption)

Yes she was arrested and bond out Sunday. She admitted to shooting the dog and why. She just did not dispose privately instead leaving the cage in a road. Being rural area dogs are shot or dumped it will be interesting to see what happens to her. Where I worked was a dumping ground and I ended up taking 2 home. They have since passed. Bridgit and her siblings were picked up by the sheriff along with the mom after two of the pups were run over. The owner paid to get mom back but left the pups to be killed. A local rescue got the pups knowing they would not survive the shelter. I adopted her 2 days later. She has issues but we think she has coyote or wolf a hybrid breeder is in that area.

What was the "why"?

She said she was being aggressive but the dog was malnurished (25 lb under). She shot her with a nine mil. Hopefully get her on a gun charge too. I'm tempted to drive by the house her address was released. Mostly a meth lab being that area

DALLAS (Reuters) - Police in Texas have arrested a 44-year-old woman on suspicion of shooting dead her caged dog that had just given birth to a litter of puppies because she was "growing agitated" with her pet, police said on Monday.

Tammy Douglas of Springtown, about 60 miles (100 kms) northwest of Dallas, was arrested on Sunday for suspected animal cruelty. A lawyer for Douglas, who has been freed on bond, was not immediately available for comment.

Police said Douglas told them she shot her 4-year-old shepherd mix named Aowa in the head with a handgun while it was nursing its 10 puppies. Douglas then abandoned the blood-spattered puppies by the side of a nearby road.

“To a normal, caring human, this is an incomprehensible act," Parker County Sheriff Larry Fowler said.

"I can’t imagine what the suspect thought these puppies did in order to warrant her actions. Animal cruelty can never be justified," Fowler said in a statement.

The puppies were being cared for at an area ranch.
