the webair tools don't work if you have java 8.

they will if you remove java 8 and install java 7 from the java site in older downloads.

Submitted a new debug today. I was having a tough time with the archives earlier so I went ahead and dump all my java8 and stuck java7 back in to get the debug in.

Mini speedtest:

That looks awful! So you did the debug and clicked yes to submit to Webair?

the little bit of the debug log I remember the download speeds were horrendous. 18-25KB where the baselines were in the 1.5-3MB range. The download tests took so long I almost quit thinking it wasn't doing anything. It was just awful slow. Uploads were all under 1MB for the debug. The speedtest screenshot I did a few minutes after sending the debug report.

Is it possible for you to try that again from a starbucks or something? Or even just connect via your cell phone and see what it does?

Those are the same rates I get, Vicky. But I never get any sort of link to "report results to Webair."

Weird i did the debug link, got excellent results and got the submit to webair popup box.
It has to be location related. Can you try it from somewhere else? A chickfilla? Anywhere else that has different internet? Or your phone?

Sometimes it takes a bit of time for the popup to show up.

Yeah, when some of us are having problems, others say they're getting a great link. I'm going to talk to my ISP tomorrow.

But then, if bobklv is having the same issues, then it's certainly not El Paso local. On the other hand, when I run a speed test from Ookla, or ATT or Time Warner, I get 14 - 15mb download speeds. So that tells me it's not my ISP. I am really lost on this one. It is just so frustrating.

I can't seem to get the links to work on either computer. On this laptop, it tells me the program needs Java to run. So I enable Java and get a whole other series of issues.

Desktop is no better, but different problems.

Tomorrow I am going to try to work on both computers and keep a detailed log. I will also go out somewhere and see if I can find a hotspot to try during a cam show. I'll let you know in 2 or 3 days how I'm doing.

Monica's show today no better. Maybe 5% - 10% of the show got thru. Same with Hot Rio this AM. The chat flows fairly well, but sometimes even that doesn't go. I post a comment and it might not show up for a couple minutes. It's like the chat window is on scroll-lock or something.

I HATE this, lol. Talk to you soon.

The internet is made up of segments. The idea behind these tests is to determine which segment is causing the slowdown.

Testing between your house and your isp or the big city next to you will help you determine if the problem is on your segment. that's an isp issue.

The next step is to determine if between yourself and webair. that will help webair to know if the link between them and your isp's servers in your city is strong.

if you're getting low speeds when testing directly to webair but strong between you and isp, it just means that the link between your isp and webair isn't working well.

The internet is made up of many paths, all roads lead to Rome, some are just more rocky than smooth.

Weather, materials used in wires, older/newer wires, fiber optics, switches and servers used, each of these things play a part in link quality.

There is nothing we can do ourselves from home, but letting your isp and webair know is a start.

They might be able to redirect the path between each other and give us a good strong link.

well, I managed to get 2 reports sent in yesterday (took a few times to get to the point where I could submit them). The one I did on the phone with a 1-2 bars (out of 5) from Verizon Wireless was pretty good. The second which was better than the one I sent in a couple days ago was still on the bad side (AT&T U-verse 1Gb fiber).

The worst part right now is that I'm unable to enjoy the archives. Normally, if it's a bit on the slow side, I can start it, pause it, wait a while for it to load more the show, then continue to enjoy the show. Right now, it buffers, multiple times, very slowly. Anywhere between a few seconds to a little after the first minute in show time, the show ends. Check the screenshot.

As for the live shows, I really haven't noticed any issues (chat typing for me can be slow, not sure if that's flash related or not). Sometimes the forum is slow on loading the GIF videos. Haven't really tried to download any videos from the VNA sites lately so I think I'll give that a shot this week.

I'm really working hard to figure this out.... there are 3 members in total having this issue, Walt from TX, you from Louisianna I think, and Vern from NY... not even close to each other, lol...

These are the real time maps for the biggest "backbone internet providers" that affect us
https://downdetector.com/status/att/map/
https://downdetector.com/status/time-warner-cable/map/
Comcast and RCN have had issues recently too but think resolved...
There is a lot of hacking going on with the middle east right now... when areas are down you get rerouted automatically but it's much slower..

Louisianna routes through Texas as well... Webair said they got the test results from bobklv and they show it's super super slow just getting out of your own city.....

there are outages even in NY too that could be affecting Vern... apparently this has been going on for a few days, and getting worse each day... but that's why it could be fine for someone from Germany and bad for someone from NY!

This is what I'm being told, but I"m still investigating it!

Last night I did a speed test of my own: I got pretty much normal values, but I did send a report to WebAir just for safety's sake.

Yes, Louisiana's web traffic will usually be rerouted through Texas; at least, that's how Charter Communications (my ISP) routes mine.

It may be because of Mardi Gras weekend blowing out the servers.

well, things have gotten much better over the last couple of nights. Archives are working for me now and my download tests of some videos worked just fine. The connection seems to be screaming now.

Yeah Walt said his is better too... thing is we didn't change anything.... so it must have been that outage in Texas that was messing things up. Appaently it was at least a week, and it got worse and worse every day.

Was getting multiple errors "503 Service Unavailable" trying to access carmen&puma's site today around 3pm

tried a download and it failed midway, tried again and only 400KB/s download speeds

i ran the test and sent the report to webair.

But- why is it so slow ?

To paraphrase 'barrellorgan', he's using broadband via Charlies site, then on to the vnalive. he can't seem t grasp that the bandwidth is shared with possibly thousands of other users from where her site is to where the VNA servers are, I spent nearly 40 minutes talking to him after Adrian today explaining the facts of the internet to him, and though he may not have someone sitting next to him on his computur, he does indeed share the connection with others, both headed to / from the vna, and other broadband users such as movie offerings, and gamers. I suggested as a test he drop back to Charlies site and try to watch a movie, if it's slow then he needs to talk to his ISP and that the chat window was not beam me up scottie every time, there were other functions of the system that took priority over him telling the model "put yur fingers in ur ass', he seemed to have a hard time grasping that he was required to share, I suspect he doesn't play well with others from the comments.
