Just quickly to say I'm watching the second series of Undercover on Amazon Prime - the Bulgarian (subtitled) crime series.
It is really good, and the second series is getting more complex with characters appearing that were thought to be dead, a bent cop who is actually working for the Secret Service etc..........
The setting of Sofia is interesting (change from LA or Baltimore etc) and because the actors are Bulgarian they look the part! Did I mention the really hard guy gangster who gets diagnosed with a brain tumour.
Second series started on Sky over here today - after loads of trailers is Britannia. Its about the Roman invasion of Britain in AD 35. It has had a great start - fierce locals fighting each other, hard Romans who think they are invulnerable, and weird, mystic druids.
This looks really good. It's a sort of Vikings with weirdness (and Romans)

It was like Thelma and Louise on steroids! Lol.... I thought for sure they were gonna go out guns blazing and be riddled with bullets by the triggerhappy Aussie cops! But then there couldn't be a season 3 lol....

Just started Loudermilk on AmazonPrime - good series about a reformed alcoholic turned AA/drugs counsellor who tells it like it is!

I tried to find Loudermilk on Prime and it didn't come up. Hulu has just put the first season on A Handmaids Tale. I started watching it and I really like it although I do not like what the women are used for, but then that is part of the story!! Being a former library director you would have thought I would have read the book. Oh well, alas I can not read them all. lol I am also watching The Magicians which is really good. George, I want to watch Dark Mirrors when I get done with these. Not enough hours in the day. No wonder I don't read as much as I should!

Just watched a couple of series on my ''off'' time..
Britannia at Peter's suggestion... which really was a poor mans game of thrones... set in Britain with the druids and romans. I wasn't quite sure if the series was at time serious or not because is was kind of campy and lacked much in the way of a budget for good special effects but it was enjoyable enough in a pinch. I have to give it a C+. I'd have given it a B but with all the guts and violence and liberal use of the word ''fuck'', none of the actresses got topless (a shame because Kelly Reilly is in the series)
Also caught Absentia on a plane... on Amazon.. about at woman/wife who is kidnapped and tortured for 6 years. She escapes and comes back to find her husband remarried. Her tormentor is still on the loose so a lot of murder and police chases ensue). It was great for an hour... maybe two... but like all of these new series, after about four episodes it kind of lost it legs (for me anyway). It went from realistic to silly. By episode 10 I was fast forwarding to see the end. I'd say a C-.
Happy binging...

Black Mirror. If you find it offensive or disturbing don't say I didn't warn you...hennar2017 wrote: ↑February 8th, 2018, 4:11 pm George, I want to watch Dark Mirrors when I get done with these. Not enough hours in the day. No wonder I don't read as much as I should!
I've had a few friends go that route, moving to LA, auditioning all the time, independent movies, small roles, commercials, stuff like that. They've invited me out there before so the thought has crossed my mind.
I have been watching Altered Carbon on Netflix. Its set in the future where the human conciousness can be stored in a computer chip in the body and when the body dies or is killed can be removed and placed in a new body. Of course the rich and powerful can get any kind of body they want but the regular people have to take whatever is available or what they are given. The main story involves a man who is brought back after 250 years to solve a murder. The atmosphere is futuristic film noir. Gave me kind of a Blade Runner vibe. I am six episodes in and am enjoying it.
I have both Absentia( mostly because I like Stana Katic) and Britannia on my list. Rokkers comments might have me push them back a bit in favor of other things. Looking forward to watching season 2 of the Tick.

Altered Carbon is awesome... but confusing at times...
I found the whole sister/brother thing as well as the wife who is in a man's sleeve a bit bizarre...
It's well done, some of the acting could have been better tho...
Just clicked on The Frankenstein Chronicles with Sean Bean on Netflix... looks very promising...

Watched the movie Wind River on Netflix and thought it was very good. It stars Jeremy Renner and Elizabeth Olsen as a tracker and a novice FBI agent investigating the death of a young girl found dead in the snow on a Native American reservation. It also stars Graham Greene whom I have liked in everything I have seen him in. I"d recommend it.
BTW I just noticed this is my 100th post. Not much compared to some of you all, but woo hoo for me :-)

I had some time on my hands on a trip so I started watching Vikings on Amazon... pretty awesome. Not as graphic as I thought but still pretty violent...

Another good one on Amazon Prime - I have finished first series and second just launching - Sneaky Pete (wonder why I started that?!?
Main character is a con man who gets released from prison after three years. He owes a New York gangster (ex-cop) $100,000 after a con goes wrong and takes on the identity of a fellow prisoner. He poses as this guy and moves to Connecticut pretending to be the grandson of the people there.
If you like caper/con stories its really good and there are multiple cons happening leading up to one big one. Some humour and good plot.

Binged Jessica Jones season 2. It was good you get Jessica's origin story finally. It appears they are going in a different direction with the netflix series now as there isn't any refrences to the defenders events. Even Krysten Ritter said defenders 2 is unlikley.
