Just finished the reboot of Lost in Space on Netflix. I thought it was good. Quite a bit different from the original 60's show. More straight science fiction and less campy. I'd say much better than the movie that came out in the 90's I think. It is certainly worth a look if you like sci-fi

agreed. I wonder if they will explain more about the robot and it origins in the next season. I also thought the bad guy was very good.

I haven't bothered - the synopsis showed they had changed too much to make it worth watching!!

On TV here - Channel 4 - we have a great sic-fi series from France (believe it or not) called "Missions".
It's about a commercial (European) mission to Mars which runs into problems. They are just beaten to Mars by an American mission which crashes, so they go to the American's rescue. The first episode starts with a sequence about an early (1967) Soyuz mission that gets lost.
So when the French lot find a missing astronaut on Mars and he turns out to be a 90+ yr old cosmonaut things get weird!!!!!

I dont think the changes they made took anything away from the original. just made it more contemporary. Maureen Robinson is the leader of the ship instead of her husband as in the original. Doctor Smith is a woman instead of a man. Things like that.

Those are exactly the things that put me off - the original series was made by Dr Smith (and the robot). Who says PC changes equates with contemporary??

So I started watching Lost in Space - I made the first 14 mins and 30 secs!
Sorry guys, I have enjoyed visits to the dentist more!!
Initial impressions were that it was a vehicle for effects and CGI - certainly not acting! Even those (effects) were underwhelming - at least in the original they were so bad they were good!
Sorry, I have better things to do with my time!

I think that was the longest thread on a single show we have had. If everyone liked the all the same things we wouldnt discover something new. PeterL22 did you check out La Mante yet? wondering what you thought.

This show isn't on either Netflix or Amazon, but is really good and very topical with the World Cup being on at present - its called "Son of a Bitch", and is a Brazilian show about a football referee.
He has just split up from his wife after giving her some form of STD and its about his life, his work and all the sh1t that life throws at him. He has everything to deal with from one of his linesmen (male) trying to kiss him, a hot female linesman that he ends up in bed with, his favourite team being relegated after he avoids refereeing their game by getting his linesman to knock him out, seeing his estranged wife giving her divorce lawyer a blowjob in the car on her drive etc! I almost forgot his mother's love life and stud boyfriend!
No wonder each episode ends with the dialogue "Son of a Bitch!" spoken by one of the characters. Great, even if you are not a football fan.
For you Brits, its on All4 under the "Walter Presents" section

I don't know if this is available on Netflix or Amazon, but Brit readers will recognise the best ever political sitcom with Sir Humphrey in all his glory!
US readers should use this as a guide to British Politics - a textbook!!

I do agree with you Peter! The acting was bad, but I got past it and still enjoyed it.

I am totally hooked on "Animal Kingdom" now.... I'm on season 3! A lot of those characters are very familiar to me! From my past life... My husband before Dave came from a crime family just like that, probably even worse, so I totally understood the control and manipulation exercised by all of them in their different ways, especially the women. It also reminded me of "Sons of Anarchy" just on the beach instead of on motorcycles. Great show!

I just started watching "Good Girls" ...three housewives turning to a life of crime with some pretty funny stuff going on along the way. Kind of reminds me of Desperate Housewives :)
