rokkerr wrote: October 12th, 2019, 11:36 am Loved Breaking Bad... took in El Camino last night... the story of Jessie Pinkman...

Worth a look but honestly felt they could have done more with it... and it missed Walter White
The trailer is better than the movie...

Sadly Robert Forster... passed away the day this movie came out last night... (the owner of the vacuum cleaner store)

I really feel like this one missed the mark! It didn't even seem like a movie to me. It just seemed like another episode of Breaking Bad, but I really long one, with lots of filler stuff. Not having Walter White in it really sucked, and I found it was not believable at all because the character who played Jesse, had gained weight, and had very white teeth, which meth addicts would not have. If you had been held captive and tortured he would not have gained weight. I kept thinking about how odd it was.
To be honest I lost the plot with Breaking Bad a few series in.
However, I really got into Better Call Saul - I think it was the two characters Jimmy & Mike that engaged me!
Here was certainly a sin worth sinning and I applied myself with characteristic vigour to its practice

Series being shown on BBC - joint production with RAI and German producer - called "the Name of the Rose.
It's based on a book by a chap called Umberto Eco and is about a Franciscan Monk who tries to solve a murder in a Benedictine Abbey. It's set in 14th Century against the background of a war between the (French) Pope and the Emperor of France - who has appointed the monk as a negotiator.
I remember a film in ?early 70s with Sean Connery as the monk which had a creepy trailer.
So far this is excellent - think Game of Thrones meets Cadfael!!

Over here on Sky, there has just started a HBO series based on the comic book "The Watchmen".
First episode was pretty good with Don Johnson (remember Miami Vice) as one of the leads.
It will probably appeal to me as it is a little bit bizarre and has some quirky characters - they are different from the really good film version!

Interesting series over here on BBC (really - it is on BBC), called Giri/Haji (apparently Japanese for Duty/Shame).

It is about a Japanese detective who is sent from Tokyo to London to investigate a murder that appears to have been committed by a Yakuza hitman (who is actually the detective's younger brother).
It is in English, apart from when the Japanese guys are talking when there are subtitles. He is sent on a course as cover and the Scottish detective who runs the course gets involved and has a past of her own.
Really good so far - lots of samurai swords, shooting and Japanese manners!

Why do they cancel good shows? I would have happily binge watched another season of Berlin Station! I thought the acting was great!
