Blazing Saddles was great. One of Mel Brooks best. Followed by Young Frankenstein.

Finished Picard season two on Amazon Prime at the weekend and can openly admit the build to the ending got me quite welled up!

I did start to watch The Pentaverate on Netflix, which is Mike Myer's new project for them but I have to say I gave up before the end of the first episode. I get what he's trying to do and can identify the "comedy" but it just wasn't funny to me at all.

Watched Stranger Things season four part one. I thought it was better than season 3. Part 2 which consists of the last 2 episodes air on July 1st but are 1 hour and 2 and a half hours respectively.

Season 3 of the Orville started today on Hulu. The first episode was very good though much darker in tone than the first 2 seasons. One of the best Sci Fi programs our there in my opinion. All episodes available on Hulu

on Amazon The Boys season three started today.

Final episode of Obi-Wan Kenobi on Disney+ tomorrow and I can't wait. I still haven't started season four of Stranger Things - and by the end of this month Only Murders In The Building is back!

Need to watch the new season. I really like the new Star Trek Strange New Worlds with Capt Pike.

I enjoyed Picard quite a bit. I do think that Strange New Worlds is one of the best Star Trek shows they have done. I also highly recommend Star Trek lower decks. It is hilarious.

I highly recommend How To Change Your Mind, a docuseries of four 50-minute episodes on Netflix about the history, early research, criminalization and recent research into psychedelics and the potential each has for healing. The series is one episode each exploring LSD, psilocybin, MDMA, and mescaline. The episode on MDMA, which is apparently close to FDA approval, was particularly uplifting.

Well, I can't tell a short story. Every time I try, it turns into a book. But I guess I feel that I have a story to tell. Vicky told a story here once. and that is what led me to go meet her. She had been having problems, and she shared alI of that with us on the forum. I only expected to meet her, and let her know that people cared, and that she shouldn't lose faith, as better times were ahead. And then I figured I'd head on back home and that would be the end of it. Who knew it would lead to this? I have to say it here, in front of you all. Thank you, Vicky, for being MY friend, and helping me, as well, as you help so many other people yourself. You put others first, and there's no greater gift than that. I feel so sorry for those who can't see that, including models. You can only try so hard before people need to wake up, step up and take charge of their own lives.

I'm no innocent. I went through a period in the late 60's where, thanks to letting myself be led along by friends, I did a small bit of experimenting, mostly LSD and mushrooms (psilocybin.) When visiting friends near Seattle, we'd go out and gather mushrooms. They lived in a nice house on the side of a mountain above probably Puget Sound. So they taught me which ones were the 'good' ones and we'd go collecting.

I did a little LSD in Detroit. We called it Acid, which was what LSD was - Lysergic acid diethylamide. It used to come in small rectangular pieces called "window panes." I don't think I ever took a whole one. A quarter pane, or a half at the most, was always enough to send me off. (There is so much more dangerous crap out there now.)

For a while, I lived in a hotel in Detroit. I was pretty much on the bum in those days, the late 60's, hippie days, lol, It was maybe 15 stories or so, and I was on the 10th floor. It was no luxury place, but was nice enough (I never encountered roaches, lol.) Back then, you could still open hotel windows. So I liked to sit on the window sill and just look over downtown Detroit.

One afternoon I took a 'hit.' I remember there were storms coming in from the west, while my room faced east. Clouds were rolling in, and the wind was breezy. So I watched the breeze blowing trash around on the street below and watching the birds (pigeons) flying around on the wind currents. They were so cool, just kind of floating around. Suddenly I found myself thinking, "Gee, that would be so cool to be able to just fly around like that above the ground, just riding the wind." I seemed to be getting more into that. You know, "I wonder if I could do that." But suddenly I came to my senses. I still remember thinking, "Walt, get the hell inside. You're crazy." So I got up off of the sill (I was straddling it, one leg inside, one outside,) got inside, closed the window, then went over and laid down. The one thing I remember was I could see myself suddenly as a very large giant. I mean LARGE! So large, I saw myself moving through the solar system, stepping from planet to planet. I finally went to sleep, and I think that was the last time I did acid.

The point being, that shit is dangerous, and should NEVER be done unsupervised. That is why I'm glad to see the medical community developing the good things that these chemicals/medicines can do when controlled.

Yes, I still smoke a little weed. Not a lot, maybe once or twice a month. I guess I see weed as no more 'dangerous' than beer. But, people? If someone comes to you and says, "Here. Try this," BACK AWAY! You have it in you to say, No thanks! But if you know someone having mental issues, why not see if you can lead or direct them to competent help? Research for them, look around. They most likely aren't in any condition to do it themselves. If they are having those issues, what they need more than anything is a friend. A friend who won't only talk to them, but help them, guide them, if necessary. I don't mean dedicate your life to anyone, but, be a friend. Do what you can.

I was lucky. I feel I was SO lucky to get out of all that. But in the back of my mind, I always wanted to get out of that world and move forward. I had been trained as a Radio Electronics (RF) technician in the Air Force, and I liked that. So I reached a point where I looked into my military benefits, which included educational benefits. I decided that I needed to enroll in a school and refresh my memory on being a tech. The school I chose started with the most basic electronic theory. I remembered all that well, so I could even help the others. I still remember a couple of guys who, during breaks, would go out into the stairwell and smoke weed. All I could do is shake my head.

While going to that school, maybe after 3 or 4 months, I saw an ad in the paper about jobs in Alaska. The ad was asking for radio electronics techs experienced on certain types of radio equipment. I had no experience on any of it, but I decided to call the guy anyway. I asked him if he could suggest what I should study to learn those equipments. He asked me about my history and training and then said, "Why not come out and take our test." So I did (the recruiter was in a hotel somewhere in Detroit.) I went out and took his test, and he said, "I think we can offer you a position." Well, I was elated. The offer was that they would fly me to Anchorage for processing, then on to a remote site to complete my training on their system. I was so bad at that point, that, in moving along to hopefully a new life, I packed everything I owned into a cardboard box. I got to Alaska with 10 cents in my pocket. I knew my sister lived in Anchorage. Her Army husband was stationed at Ft. Richardson. If that phone had eaten my dime, I would have been dead, 5 miles from salvation, lol.

I ended up staying on the system for 7 years, 3-1/2 out on remote sites in the bush, then 3-1/2 at Project HQ (PHQ) in Anchorage. I was moved from Site Technician/Site Supervisor to Asst. Quality Assurance Manager. Once I left Alaska I traveled for a few months on my motorcycle I had bought in Anchorage. I finally ended up in Los Angeles, where I got into aerospace (TRW.) From there, I found a job in Denver (in aerospace) where I was eventually hired on to the Magellan project.

So I went from a drug-using party guy to a spacecraft technician, eventually promoted to flight engineer on a spacecraft project for 9 years. So, what if you helped someone get beyond their problems and move on to a better life? Wouldn't that feel good? None of us can save the world. But if we can be less critical of others and more understanding, we can still make a difference. Many people helped me on my journey, more than I can remember. But I thank each and every one of them every day, for the part they played in my life.

I love your stories, Walt.

Yes, the research and clinical trials with various psychedelics are all rigorously supervised and peer reviewed. They are having amazing results in treating anxiety, depression, PTSD, addiction, and other conditions. Some of the stories in the series are truly inspiring. My hope is that the next five to ten years will see these medicines removed from schedule 1 and that we'll see clinics popping up all over the US and the world that will be helping people with mental issues the same way traditional medicine is helping people with physical ailments.

Thank you, Daavest.

And, you're right. Obviously, what I experienced was uncontrolled drugs. Who knows where they came from, who made them or what was in them? But, being controlled and evaluated by the medical community makes them very useful. Hopefully, what you suggest will come to pass.

Just started the second season of Picard and already addicted. Can't wait to see how this turns out.

Then I'll finish what I've missed on Discovery.

I think the world would be a better place if everyone watched Star Trek....all of them.
