Just to let you know, that where I live, in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia and other southern states, daylight savings is on, again. Not a fan of it, as espesially in summer, means 1 more hour of heat. The only advantage is tha I can see, Vicky's camshow, an hour later in the morning at 8am, Tuesday.

We don't change here in the states for another month - Nov 6th (DST going OFF, for us, lol.) I think most of us Yanks wish they'd leave it alone, too.

The U.S. Department of Transportation is responsible for overseeing DST and the country's time zones. All states but Hawaii and Arizona (except the Navajo Nation) observe DST. The territories of American Samoa, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands also do not observe DST.

I believe we do this upcoming fall back then the next Spring forward and then DST is officially over.

But they're trying to make DST permanent, instead of going with the hours/time of the universe. Noon is calculated as the time the sun is at the mid-point of the sky - straight overhead. So, on DST, the sun isn't overhead until 1 P.M.? That's insane.

Interesting article last hurricane 22000 people went to shelters, this time only 5000 went. (Out of 350 000 in the evacuation zone)

Irma was a potential Cat 5 that could have absolutely destroyed Tampa Bay and the southwest Florida coast were it not for it dragging through the north coast of Cuba.

Ian was forecasted to be a mere Cat 3 and weakening as it approached Tampa on north up the Florida coast, but it blew up into near Cat 5 and went in further south (Naples/Cape Coral). I suppose they thought that the blow would be weaker than it ended up being.

Wayament....weren't there some counties in Indiana which straddled the Central and Eastern time zones that didn't follow DST? Did they switch back on their own, or were they forced to by the Feds?

I could care less whether they keep DST all year or eliminate it or keep it as is. They do need to standardize the length world wide. First Sunday in March to first Sunday in November. C'est finis.

Mexico is heading toward abolishing DST. Not sure if they'll keep it on or off. But the border cities, (Juarez, Tijuana, etc.) will keep it active (on/off twice a year) because of their cross-border business dealings.

Well the clocks went back an hour here this morning. I am actually looking forward to getting up tomorrow for work NOT in the pitch black. It's been like the middle of the night at 6:30am here the last couple of weeks! lol

Our clocks don't go back until Sunday November 6th, so for the next 2 weeks we have to remember that when we call London it's now 4 hours time difference and when I call Norway it's 5 hours. What a pain in the ass!

Girls and guys will be missing camshows all over the place and showing up for things at the wrong times.

I agree with you greggl it works out great for us here, but apparently in some places it means that it wouldn't get light until 9:30 in the morning so that it would be driving to work in the dark.
