I'm a born again Saint! - really my lifelong love and obsession is the Bluebirds (Cardiff City) but if you want an objective assessment from someone who doesn't support ANY of the so-called top 6 clubs - here goes
Chelski - Konte is great pragmatic manager and has an excellent squad. Needs to keep Costa and get Hazard back into team - will finish first or second in PL.
Man City - easily the best squad in PL, but Pepe hasn't got it right (not as easy in PL as Bundesliga or La Liga) - Jesus looks great (odd sentence to write) and Aguero still on form. Get rid of Sterling and get decent centre back and will win PL.
Man Utd - players bought to keep team "the best in the world" but not to play together. Mourinho another pragmatic manager ( if bonkers) and will probably finish about 4th.
Liverpool - vastly overrated (not famous any more) lucky against Sevilla last night, and will not finish in top 6 unless they keep Coutinho. No defence to speak of at all!
Arsenal - must do better - really rate Wegner, but probably time for a new manager. Probably team I most enjoy out of "top 6" to watch. But need to remember how to shoot. Welbeck underrated, as is Ramsey. Best all round footballer in PL Sanchez (must keep him) - followed by De Bruyne!
Spurs - lucky last night against Dortmund (who deserved to win the game) - poor referee (almost down to PL standard) who disallowed equalising goal which won game for Spurs - Probably have as much potential as other teams - but Wembley will reduce points they gain
Everton - don't try to kid me - will finish about 10th. Carrying Rooney who is totally past it. Will miss Lukaku so much.
In Europe - only Man City and Chelsea have any real hope - but when you look at Real Madrid, Barca and Bayern - it aint gonna happen for English teams!!

Well Europa League was fun last night!
Everton played off the pitch by Atlanta (not even playing at their own ground. Scouser were really awful and Rooney (yet again) showed why he retired from International football - O how we laughed!
Arsenal - tried to lose it with a second eleven, only to find that Sanchez can win games on his own - really great goal last night!

Man City look like the potential champions.
Man Utd - looking better this year, but I fancy our chances against them on Saturday
Chelsea and Arsenal - one team better than expected, the other shows that they will be difficult to beat, but not quite there yet (need Costa back).
Liverpool - Ha Ha - told you Klopp was in trouble.
Palace - really look doomed - Geriatrics don't always have the extra needed to help you survive (and he was cr@p as England manager).
Newcastle - don't be fooled - wait until they play a good side - think this is as good as it gets for them
Saints - still can't score. Virgil will start on Saturday
Bournemouth/Brighton - both looked poor on Friday - think Bournemouth slightly better so will probably stay up (just), Brighton - favourite for drop with Palace.

I have to say Manchester United look awfully good... and that was without Pogba
or was it just that Rooney was that gassed running around too much...
Quite a battle at the top of the league ... and if I do say so myself seeing my amazingly average team at 3rd in our league makes me happy...

This could be in "Rant of the Day" thread.
In the summer Southampton FC bought a player called Lemina from Juventus - a "box-to-box" midfielder - for £18 million.
No real comment, and compared to the hours and hours spent on discussing Lukaku, Rooney, Neymar etc etc, very little media coverage.
He had a superb game controlling midfield against Palace on Saturday (and has looked really good in other games too), so what happens?
Pundits on BBC & Sky - you know who you are Garth Crooks - start saying that it was a wrong move for him - he should have gone to Liverpool or Arsenal (basically one of the "big" clubs).

Even if you accept playing for Liverpool is playing for a better club (by the way when did they last actually win anything - "You're not famous any more"), if you are a relatively young player and want to step up to Premier League Saints are actually probably the best team to try. You will get game time, play with good quality team mates and then can go on to "bigger" things when you get sold for a high price. Just because we on the South Coast regard Arsenal, Tottenham and Liverpool as ATMs doesn't mean to say that it is a poor move.
To be honest, down here we are used to the media bias - last season we played Liverpool 4 times - won 2 and drew 2, and Liverpool didn't score against us once - but the pundits say that's because they had problems/played badly/ tight fixture schedules/injuries (delete inapplicable) rather than Saints were the better team.

Harry Kane the best striker in the Premier League? I dread to think where Spurs would be without him and the win against West Ham perfectly illustrated why. Sure, Alli and even more so, Eriksen were pivotal, but I wouldn't have even the slightest faith in Llorente or any other of our recent strikers to have calmly put away that second goal the way Kane did.
Having said that, the competition for best striker even in the Premier League is looking a tremendous fight this season! Lukaku appears to be on track to score a customary goal per game, whilst Aguero is finally finding out how to play play under Pep and reaping the benefits. And let's not forget Morata who is settling in very well at Chelsea. It will take a brave man to bet on who will finish as top goalscorer this season if they all stay injury free - could we see more than one striker hit 30 league goals this season?
One thing I'm not enjoying though is how on earth do we choose between them in our fantasy teams and how do we accommodate them at the expense of other players...

Kane has scored most last two seasons and always looks sharp - wonder why he can't score in August!
Aguero is really good. Lukaku is interesting - he wasn't in the game at all on Saturday, but put away his chance really well (as a Saints' fan I know how important taking chances is!)!
I thought we were really unlucky not to get at least a point on Saturday and thought Pawson (ref) missed a blatant foul on Long - think he was afraid to give it because he would have had to give a Man Utd player a red card!
On a better note for us, how good was Lemina? Awesome! He outplayed Matic & Fellaini and with Romeu he will makie an imposing midfield.
