I got off the plane last night and the humidity slapped me in the face like a 2x4. A soaking wet 2x4, lol... It's kind of a love hate relationship with florida. It was 6:30 pm and the humidity was 89%. It's not even July or August yet, lol...

I was in LA area for a week, I really can't find one good thing to say about LA. I know a lot of people love it, but to me, all I see is traffic jams (even at 4 in the morning), fake people, lots of pollution and sooo so crazy expensive! I can live in a palace for the same price my girlfriends pay for a one or two bedroom apartment in LA.

I do like the San Diego area. One thing that was really nice, was running every morning, it was always nice and cool, and there are actually some hills, so it makes it a lot more interesting to run. In florida it is completely flat so running is boring unless you can run the bridges, and of course running by the water is nice too.

There is talent and local shooting here in Florida, why do you think Fetishcon is in Tampa? I hate the fact that "florida girls" are considered to be of a lesser quality than "LA Girls", that's just not right. They get paid less here too, which sucks if you are talent, but great if you are the one doing the hiring...

Anyway.... just some musings and ramblings upon coming home.... I did actually miss it and I'm glad to be home! What I missed more than anything of course was my dogs!

I feel like I'm about to enter a High School Debate with the sexy cheerleader.

Speaking as a guy who is suffering through 35 degrees this week and who works outside on blistering hot asphalt, I'll take a dry heat and drink lots of water over a punch in the face 89% humidity...yikes !!

So if I had to choose although I LOVE Florida, if push came to shove I'd choose California. Not so much L.A., but maybe San Diego or Bakersfield :)

Now someone remind me why I bought a timeshare in Florida??? hahahaha

I kinda understand Vicky, I went to Florida several years ago in Feburary for a meeting, they looked at me like I was crazy (and who knows...) when I insisted I had to have AC in the car, and the hotel said I wouldn't need it, it was a balmy 80 with 90% humidity, I changed hotels until i found one that would let the AC be turned on in my room, the meeting room was another story, but I made sure I was the first one there every morning, found the AC controls for the meeting hall, and with a skinny screwdriver managed to turn it to a point where the AC would come on at 75, and of course the next morning it was turned off again. They never caught me, but at least I managed to survive for a week.

I was born in the high mountain country (well what they called high mountains) of Arizona, in the Prescott area, and spent part of my childhood in Tuscon, so I know what dry heat is like, and I much prefer it to moist heat. I took some schooling in San Diego, and I might be able to tolerate that again. I have a sister who lives in Ontario California and your right, smog smog, and more smog, and traffic like I hope to never see again. If I have to move again, it's going to be to the West Coast, though Mich has some calling. I know people think I'm crazy for liking Alaska, but I've lived here for nearly 60 years now,and it's grown on me. It's 11 oclock at night,it's still sunny, and it's still in the mid 70's, with humidity in the mid 40's. The heat I can undress for, but only down to a certain point, then your living in Hedo conditions....lol. The cold you can adapt to, especially a dry cold, but a moist heat or cold just cuts through you, I'd just as soon not take my bath in my own body fluids thank you very much, and that's what Florida weather reminds me of, stewing in my own juices!

And unfortunatly I didn't know the fine ladies of the VNA at the time I visited Florida, all I saw outside of the meeting was 'old biddies', in their 70-90's and not well preserved at all. The ladies on the West coast even with their over exposure to the harsh sun seemed at the time to be much easier on the eyes. And I've been to Texas Walt, I married my first wife in Houston, :scared: only place I've ever been where the cops won't get out of their AC cars for ANYTHING! LOL. The weather was HOT, and dry, and I suppose if I was forced to I could get used to living in such a 'small state'. :nanah:

As for wages, I know that plastic surgeons (body modification specialists) in Florida get a pretty penny (wad of money) for trying to make 80+ year old's look like they are 40, but that's true on the West Coast also. I suspect that politics has a lot to do with the higher wages and prices in California. I find the VNA ladies from anywhere well above the average lady on the beach's of either coast N,S,E,W of the U.S.A. , and of course not to slight the VNA ladies not living in the U.S.A, your all lovely women. Bias'd opinion I'm sure. But it's my bias!

I was in Florida for 2 years while attending Florida State & the humidity was just awful until mid September & this past January while I was in Vegas for AVN, I drove a friend of mine (Ashlee Graham) from Vegas to SoCal so she could do a shoot. Her friend who was supposed to take her car conveniently had it's battery die while sitting in the parking garage of the Hard Rock Hotel, so being the great friend that I am, drove her 4 hours there for her to do her thing. The weather was awesome wherever the hell I was at in SoCal lol. Although, I still prefer Vegas' weather over anywhere else I've been.

I was on the east coast of Fla for 6 - 8 months back in the late 80's. When I would go out in the morning to go to work, I would have to take a towel. My motorcycle would be just dripping with moisture. I don't remember the days being terribly bad, though. It was in the winter (Sept - April or so,) so maybe that had something to do with it, I don't know.

I'm really interested in this thread b/c I lived in California for 5 years and now I am back in Michigan and we are seriously considering moving down to Florida.

I lived in the South Bay..which consists of Redondo, Hermosa and Manhattan Beach. Discovered it after 1 year in Hollywood and for me, that was the place in LA. However, it's so crowded and expensive and I was out growing the party aspects. And to drive anywhere outside of that little realm was very time consuming given the horrific traffic. There were plenty of other circumstances that led me back to Michigan but I never saw myself living in CA for the rest of my life or anything.

Michigan is great, the cost of living is low compared to some other places, I have a lovely house and a nice yard for my dogs which costs a fraction of the rent of my small beach apartment in LA. Summers can be fantastic, there are lakes everywhere, and part of me does enjoy the change of seasons. But the winters have been terrible, not only that but very cold springs so basically from end of Oct to end of April was total shit this year. That's about 5 months out of the year that unless you enjoy the freezing cold and snow, you don't want to spend a lot of time outside. I've been very outdoorsy and I just love to play with my dogs in the yard and sit on my patio and relax. Can't do that for a large portion of the year in MI. Even now, most of June was rainy and cloudy and that isn't normal in the summer here.

There are other factors besides the weather obviously but I have family in south east Florida, I like it down there, and my house is now worth way more than is owed on it. The idea is to sell it and come down to FL and rent for awhile and decide if we want to stay and if so, what area we might want to purchase a home in.

I know the summers are very hot and humid, but it gets super hot and humid here...a lot of people don't know that about MI but we get up into the 90s with very high humidity. Not as much or as consistent as FL does obviously. But I miss the sunshine and being able to wear a hoodie outside in February. And not getting snowed in and horrible driving conditions. So not sure what's happening yet but it does look like Florida might be my next adventure : )

They really believe this?? People are fucking terrible.

I will be headed out to CA/LA for the first time ever in August, but being a Northeast boy who hates winter, I've been to Florida several times and could easily see myself there. I will take humidity over frost anyday.

I hope you move to Florida Maggie! We can shoot so much more! In all honesty, there are 3 months of the year here that are uncomfortable. Jun/Jul/Aug. The humidity is very high, but if you live by the beach you still have a nice breeze and you don't mind at all if you can jump in the water. You just go from AC house, to AC office, to AC car, to AC shopping.... yes our electricity bills are up in the summer months... You walk or run with the dogs very early in the morning or later at night when its cooler.

The other 9 months are an absolute paradise. It's 70 - 75 average which more than makes up for the 3 months that are so sticky. In my opinion!

I've been to California and I do like the dry heat. I haven't been to Florida, sure want to, but we were in Southern Ontario last summer for a few days. I found it hot and uncomfortable with how humid it was, I just couldn't get used to it. We don't have a lot of hot days here, but it is right now, but it's a dry heat.

They are giving up lawns in California. That's aweful oh well at least they can make nice designs with different colored stones and stuff and it's pretty much maintenance free...

El Paso used to be so pretty and green. But a certain element moved in, stopped taking care of lawns, and all the grass died, and the yards all went to hell. If they are properly zeriscaped, yes, they can look great. But most places just stopped watering and let their yards turn into dirty, weedy messes. Then, to top it off, 2 or 3 years ago, the feds ripped all of the grass out of the Ft. Bliss National Cemetery and replaced it with this horrific looking red pea gravel. it just looks like, 'scuse my expression, shit!

But you can bet all of their cute little golf courses are all green and lush and great looking

I'm turning our backyard into a lawn-free zone this summer. The garden is still there and it will be a nice looking area despite the absence of a lawn (in the near future). The front yard still remains lawn friendly and blends in with the rest of the neighbourhood.

I guess I'm a California boy at heart
