Has anyone tried Sling TV or Cutting The Cord!?

I'm not trying to save money, I'm just tired of seeing ugly cables hanging out of my walls and in the bedroom where I want my tv, I have to run a cable to the wall... and I trip over it when I get up at 3 am to go pee.... I tried putting a carpet runner over it, but its still ugly and a pain.... so i was hoping to switch everything to wireless since all the tv's are smart tv's anyway....

The only downside I could see to this is you can't have it on in more than one room at a time.... which really sucks... cause I know i like to watch cnn politics in the kitchen while I'm cooking and Dave would want to have ESPN on in his office in the background while he is editing videos.....

I too would like to know. Netflix is getting rid off or lost the contract to my favorite tv shows and you have to wait until the end of the season for them to post. Hulu has a better TV line up but you have to deal with commercials or pay more. con they only post an episode for so long then take it down. the only shows with all seasons are those that have ended. Also still limited.
Amazon Prime is limited but I have been able to find some shows. The other options on my Roku are pay by the episode such as Google Play, MGo, ect.

Hate to break it to you but Sling TV has commercials... which is a big reason to get rid of regular cable (apart from the cables coming out of the wall)

Plus... if you are a fan of NBC Sports for stuff like the English football league.. you need basic cable...

Vicky -- get a longer cable.

Run it down the wall to the floor. Tuck it in between the baseboard and the rug, around to where your TV is. Then run it up to your TV. Last, put tape the color of your wall over the cable running up and down the wall. You will know it's there but it will be pretty well hidden.

Don't have a rug? Then just run it around the baseboard at the bottom. You can buy a cable Staple gun and staples for less that $20. Then, again, colored tape, if you wish.

Sling TV is ok PlayStation Vue is a better value gets you more TVs at a lower price. Sling is 20 bucks for each TV PlayStation Vue can be run on multiple Tv's and if you have TWC you can watch live TV from the Roku box with TWC.

Yeah but dishes? Here in florida? When it rains it really rains! I mean we get deluged... and lots of high winds too... not sure if dish would be good... I figured that's why we do everything underground.... You would think nowadays I could everything I wanted on the internet and we pretty much can, except I can't watch CNN and I live to have it on when I'm working so I know what's going on in the world and what stupid thing Trump said today... lol..

Well we finally did it! We bought a couple of Amazon firesticks and we have no more cable! We got rid of the landline too! The only time we EVER used the landline was to call our cellphones when we misplaced them lol....
We upped our internet speed from 200mb to 300 mb and ordered 3 Wi-Fi extenders so in theory the Wi-Fi should work all the way down to the hot tub. We got a 30 day trial to sling tv, that you can watch on 2 tv's at once but even without the sling tv there are lots of channels built into the firesticks.

Our spectrum bill was $195 per month now it will be $75 for internet +$20 for sling.

Its not just the saving though the tv picture quality is so much better! & No cables all over the place!

Interesting that you bring up the Firesticks, Vicky, because I have a relative (won't name names) who specializes in "jailbreaking" Firesticks to run everything the cable networks run, even including some adult pay-TV channels.

The only thing that's stopping me from making the switch is that my cable (also with Spectrum/Charter) is bundled with my Internet and voicephone, and I fear having to lose my Internet connection. I tried using satellite Internet for a while; and between the costs, the loss of access when it rained (and South Louisiana does rain quite a bit in the summer), and the throttling of bandwidth once I got above a certain limit, the limit of suckage was beyond the pale.

Anything that can drive my costs down (from $250/mo currently) will do me just fine.

Yes someone did offer us all the codes to put in for free for the firesticks, and I thought about it for less than a second. What kind of hypocrite would I be if I complained all day long about people watching my stolen videos on tube sites, and then used a jailbroken firestick myself?
