I have always been interested in politics. With my family you have no choice lol. Its one of the topics at every family function and now we have a new lawyer and political science major both graduating in April so the future family functions will be interesting conversations!
The topic this year tonight at Easter dinner was Trump and Cruz...... I'm curious since there are so many USA fans here how do you feel about the candidates running and did you know Cruz is born in my home town Calgary....lol

Well, politics is a very dangerous area to get into, as so many people get outright crazy about it. So, just let me say this. People like Donald Trump because the people are sick and tired of the status quo. They are sick and tired of politicians getting a free ride on the coattails of the American people. They are sick and tired of the unbelievably outrageous national debt. They are sick and tired of politicians not being subject to the same rules and laws that the American people are subject to, Obamacare being a glaring example. They are sick and tired of the American government not following the rules and laws where immigration is concerned. There are rules and laws regarding how to immigrate into this country. But the government has thrown all of that out the window. No one is against legal immigrants. They are against illegal immigrants getting free access as long as they can swim across a river and set foot on dry land, while our military veterans are living on the streets, unable to get even basic health and mental care. I could go on and on and on. And I haven't even started on Hillary Clinton.

So, they see Donald Trump as a "savior" from all that. He stands up and says what he means. He agrees that, basically, enough is enough. And he stands up and says so. Ted Cruz actually represents more of the same. Personally, I like Donald Trump. Problem with that is I am not sure he would make a good president. The main thing on his side is that the President cannot just walk in and start saying "OK, we're gonna do this, and we're gonna do this, and we're gonna do this." He has an agenda, but there are 535 senators and congressmen who must agree to and pass any laws. Problem there is that Obama has done his best to dictate that he has "Executive Privilege," which apparently means, "I don't care if you don't like it, I want it and I am invoking "executive privilege" and making it law anyway."

Yes, I knew that Ted was born in Canada. But he is still considered a natural born American citizen according to the Constitution. So he is certainly eligible to be the President. Cruz was born in Canada to a Cuban father and an American mother. By virtue of his American mother, he is generally considered to be a "natural born" citizen.

Who would make the better president? I don't know. I know who I like, but I am still not sure he is the person I will end up voting for.

There you go. Let the arguing begin. :yeahbaby:

Obviously, no one an see the future. We can only speculate. We can only hope that whomever we finally elect will get in there, clean house and get control of the country, knock off the BS, and get this country back to where it used to be and where it belongs. And I'm not sure that there's anyone out there who can or will do that.
I can resist everything except temptation.

I like some of both Trump and Cruz. Yes Trump says things he shouldn't be saying but he's the only one who's not a politician. The reason a guy like Trump is running and why a lot of people are voting for him is 7 years of Obama and 7 years of the GOP not standing up to Obama for the most part. I've stopped picking who I want to be nominated and just waiting til November to vote against...the other side...

I'm watching every night I can't believe how much I'm caught up in it lol!

I think Trump has some good things and some bad things.....Cruz has some great ideas but I'm worried he won't be strong enough to make the changes needed for you all in the USA.

The question is can someone really for once take a stand for people's rights, beliefs and make a change that really happens.....this time and its not just another campaign strategy.

I think Canada just went through what you are going through. We all wanted some change ...then our new Prime Minister very young and ambitious came out promising so much. The country came together and we have a new Prime Minister new ideas but is he making them.....will see.

I wish great things for the USA I'm excited to watch what unfolds!

Well I was glued to CNN election night like never before just like millions around the world and shocked when he won. I'm still not picking sides....I think there really wasn't a lot of choices to choose from. But what's done is done by the majority and hopes that good things to come for the USA. It will only reflect on us all especially your north neighbors. So as we all watch over the next few months I wish all my best to the USA!!! We also took a chance on a new government new Prime Minister, I haven't felt the change in the west yet. "peace:
