I don't go to McDonalds anyway, or most fast food places. If I did I'm not sure that I would watch porn there... lol... but what does bother me about it is, especially if they block it at starbucks, I won't even be able to check my email on my own laptop, because my outlook downloads my email from the vickyathome server which would be blocked. Likewise I would not be able to work in the cms to process a video or even just move the archives from the wowsa server over to the cms so that Mike can process them for you. I also wouldn't be able to post a picture on my blog. That part of it really rots my socks, cause a lot of times my cell phone signal is weak so I can't use my cell phone as a hotspot for the for my laptop to get things done while I'm traveling so I pop into a starbucks for an hour to catch up on stuff.....

The last month or so, traveling first to Arizona (twice) then to Chicago, I stopped at numerous McD's. Usually just for that reason. I needed to get online to do my moderators schedule updates. Then, on a couple or three occasions I dropped into a cam show. McD's uses ATT Wifi, so, if I am a paying ATT customer, I don't see how McD's can block my access. But I can always use it to find other hotspots, I guess.

And, no, I'm not accessing Vicky videos and beating myself to death in the parking lot (I use the bathroom for that.)

I saw this yesterday and posted about it in the stupid shit of the day thread. Talking seriously, if Starbucks were to follow suit, I'm certain a VPN (“virtual private network”) service would let you tunnel around any of their filters if it came down to it. I use one regularly to circumvent geo-restrictions to catch up on sports highlights (professional cycling and skiing in my case) from other countries which I would be unable to see in the USA otherwise. VPNs encrypt all your traffic, something to keep in mind when using public wifi, as there are always risks associated with using unsecured connections without encryption which can be exploited easily enough by unscrupulous people.

I remember a year or so ago sitting on a McDonalds outdoor patio trying to log on to your site with no luck so I thought I'd take it on the road and check out a few more neighbourhood WIFI patios. No luck at the Tim Hortons, A&W's, but the Starbucks was not a problem.

When we travel the hotels and motels we frequent are WIFI friendly to the VNA with one exception....Disney Resorts are not porn friendly and have filters in place....go figure??

I would wonder what the hell would move someone to attempt to access porn at Mickey D's...or, whether they must have caught one of their employees whacking off while on the clock.

Wouldn't you be able to beat the filters by using your personal cellphone service, or by locating another uncensored WiFi hotspot?

It's a crying shame that so many people 1) create a problem where none exists, and 2) think they have the right to control what the hell I do that does not affect them in any way, shape or form. (Whaddaya wanna bet their kids are surfing porn at home in their locked rooms, lol.) And just how many people are sitting in McDonalds surfing porn, anyway?

As if things south of the border haven't been interesting enough lately it looks like more battles and more lines are being drawn in the sand every single day. More and more people imposing their will on others in the land of the free and the home of the brave. Doesn't really seem all that American from where this Canadian is sitting.

Now I'm beginning to wonder if all those folks denied streaming porn at Mickey D's are now attempting to glam off Walmart, who recently added free WiFi to some of their stores as part of their "WalmartPay" pay-from-your-smartphone service. Yeah, that would be funny.
