When I was doing my training in Gynae way back when (bet it was before you DrDave), we started of practising pelvic exams on specially made plastic dummy pelvises. Then the next step was on ladies who were having Gynae operations and who were aneasthetised (they gave consent before hand).
After the first theatre list I went to and had tried doing an exam, I came out and said to my colleagues "Its much better in a real woman than one of those plastic dolls!" - OK I was young then!
This , of course became the quote credited to em in our "Final Year Book" at graduation.
My mother actually laughed out loud!
However, I do stick by what I said - it is much better in a real woman than one of those plastic dolls - and ALWAYS will be!
