Yesterday I had heated some water for some hot chocolate in a electric kettle, I set it on the stove and noticed something in the floor that needed picked up. Not thinking I got fast and must have had it on the corner of the stove and I knocked it of to me, scalding hot water. I went to the Baptist Hospital ER but had to be transported to the Elvis Presley Burn Trauma Center at Regional One Hospital. I have 2nd degree burns to my neck and back and arms with some 1st degree burns. I got to go home last night but go back Friday to the Wound Clinic for a followup and further treatment.

Geez, Andrew, stop doing that. I know that, as I get older, I have to be very careful with most everything I do. It's those small, unrealized details that catch us most often. I'm sure you'll be hurting for awhile, so please just take care and you will be better in no time.

Notice to everyone: If you get a small burn you can help minimize it by running it under cold water (not rub it with butter.) The cold water will cool your skin and stop the burn damage. I doubt you could do that for the type of burn Andrew got, tho.

Burns are the worst type of injury...I'm feeling for you buddy.

Hopefully you are getting proper treatment and heal soon.

Cheers Mike

Thanks guys. Yeah I got my shirt while screaming. Mom said get in the shower and get cold water. Elvis Presley Burn/Trauma center is one the best, I'm happy that Elvis donated money to have a place for people to be treated. They have me wearing silver nitrate patches, and have to do lotrim(sp) to keep fungal infection down, and also taken some Aleve for pain, they did write for Oxycodone but I didn't want to take that. Also strangely have a high pain tolerance they were shocked when I said a 4 or 5.

Oxy is highly addictive and if you can help yourself, don't start taking them. I took them for a foot surgery once...made me sick as hell but I didn't have any pain. Most Dr's here avoid prescribing them and will usually recommend T3's instead.

Hope that you're starting to feel better my friend

Wasn't feeling so great this morning so I went to doctor this afternoon, and my white count was up. Wrote me an antibiotic, and gave me copy of the paper to take with me Friday, said if they don't continue antibiotic at wound care to come back in a week. He had interned at the Regional One Hospital and the burn center.

home from wound care center, most painful experience in my life, I wouldn't wish it on anyone. Had to have my hair(hairy guy) on my back and my neck into my hair shaved off to get all the dead skin, this surgeon was in there and he heard me in pain, and told the nurse let him look and that's what he did. Go back next Thursday at 11:00

Went to the Wound Care Clinic today and was dismissed/don't have to go back to it. I pretty much healed up other than the skin to blend back in. Just to have to be careful with the new skin for up to a year and wear sunscreen when outside. Feeling good. Took a selfie, so this a new pic as I had decided until I healed up not to post any pics of myself.
